One word summarizes my experience with Brent Griffith: RUDE!I had left a detailed voice message explaining my problem (bad work done by another contractor that left us with three compromised roof trusses) and when he called me back, he was one of the rudest men I've had to ever deal with. When I started to explain the work (starting with an attic access stairway that needed to be reinstalled), he interrupted me and said, "What does that have to do with us??" I said that his Angie's list entry said he did roofing and since they did carpentry and besides, I had some roof trusses that needed to be repaired. His response to that was he was already innundated with leaks, etc. and pretty much didn't have time for us. It's one thing to communicate that you can't get to the work right now or that the job is too small for him to take on, it's another to be rude to the individual trying to connect with him.His lack of professionalism does not deserve the high marks he's getting on Angie's List. I guess he's figuring he's got enough work right now, he doesn't have to offer common courtesy to people anymore.

We called other companies, we had a deadline due to the house closing. He came out right away to fix it. The people buying the house thought there was a problem and he assured them there was not not. We were able to sell our house because of him.

From start to finish this is a "high class operation". The work is very high quality. I was a building contractor for 25 years before retirement and feel like I know quality work when I see it. I inspected the job each day and saw expert and efficient work with great attention to detail. The crews were all friendly, hard working and did a great job keeping the job site clean thru the entire process. The removal of the old roof (and haul away), replacing the damaged wood, renailing the entire roof and installation of the two layers of water proof membrane were completed in one day. Then one day to move all the new tiles to the roof and two days to install the tiles. We are totally satisfied and feel like we got a great deal with the price of the job, the quality of the work done and the overall experience. The owner, Brent was friendly, honest, hard working, responsive and easy to deal with. I would highly recommend this company. I think you would have a hard time finding anyone better then these guys for a roofing job.

The job went well and so far the roof is hold up. They got it done in one day which was good. It took a while to get started because they had to get the matching tile. The price was a little lower than some other quotes that I got. It took a few calls to get hold of them. They were professional.

B Griffith Roofing did an outstanding job on our roof replacement. We had gotten several estimates already and had seen his work on a few others homes in our development...our neighbors were very happy overall with theid results. Brent Griffith was very professional from the start...explaining everything before the work began. He gave us options on new tile and underlayment materials. Brent's workers were very courteous and efficient...they would clean up our yard every day before leaving. Brent became more of a friend than just a roofing contractor...very honest and always available to answer questions. Our new tile roof is beautiful...wish everyone could just drive by and look! The gentleman was fairly thorough. He took his time and explained exactly what the problem was, how he would fix it and how long it would take. I was pretty pleased with the time he took with me. He was half an hour late because he had a prior commitment that came up in the morning. He was very professional.

I think that I liked the fact that he got back with me promptly. He was the first guy to get in here and actually give me an estimate, which is why I used him. He did everything else according to schedule. He met my needs in terms of when I wanted it done. He did it at those times and he did it quite efficiently. I would use his services again in the future.

Called left a message that we needed a proposal on a new roof on May 25th 2011. Brett called back that afternoon and we set up an appointment for after 4:00pm the following day, May 26th. Brett picked that day, I told him any afternoon after 4 would be great, as my husband gets home at the time. Brett was a no show no call for our appointment. In this day of text and cell phones I see no excuse for the lack some sort of communication as to the reason for this. We took it to mean he did not need or want our business.

We had about six roofing companies come out and give us quotes. B.Griffith Roofing was not the most expensive but not the least. Sometimes you really get what you pay for. The price was still very good and we couldn't be happier with our experience with this company. Brent the owner was professional and prompt. Robbie and Chris were great to deal with. Cleaned up everything and kept in touch with the progress of our roof. Would definitively recommend this company. Like I said we had six companies come out for estimates.

The crew that took off the old roof was terrific- they were very neat and didn't leave any debris in my yard. The installers did a good job, everything looks good. It has rained since the work was done, so I know it doesn't leak. My issues: It was difficult to get them on the phone- mailbox of several different phone lines were full. They were spread too thin in trying to do 4 roof jobs at once- the owner was exhausted- but eventually he addressed all the areas that needed repair. I got the impression that this was an unusual situation and that he didn't normally have so many jobs going at once. Price was $1,200 more than quoted- this was unexpected. I didn't know until the job was nearly complete- poor communication. I tried to get a bill and they never showed up with it or my warranty. I finally sent in a check for most of the $ amount and explained I will have to pay some money when I am paid. This is apparently acceptable as I finally got a bill and a warranty. The work performed is excellent, but they need a compenent office staff. I would recommend them with the caveat that the homeowner should be around to address any concerns as they come up. ASK how many jobs are scheduled at the same time so that you are able to get any concerns addressed in a timely manner. I was not able to be home, and this was stressful- not knowing what they were doing. (I was able to have a relative come over and talk to Brent and he assured me that they were doing a good job.)

The job was completed in half a day. It was all wonderfully completed. Brad, an employee of B Griffith Roofing was a worker who knew what he was doing.

Summary: The roof looks great and we are extremely satisfied. The 1st crew removed the old material and put down the new plywood and underlayment. They were very professional and polite and they spread huge tarps around the house perimeter which helped with clean up. The 2nd crew (different day) installed the drip-edge, cut openings and installed the vents (3 off-ridge), installed new boots and installed shingles. Excellent work! They were also a very professional and polite team. After a 4-point inspection (for insurance) the inspector said the roofers did a great job; one of the best she has ever seen. The final evaluation is that we would recommend B. Griffith Roofing to everyone. Narrative: We were set for non-renewal by our insurance pending a new roof. They notified us of this about one and one-half months prior to the termination of the policy. We had to move quickly and got two roofing estimates ($7100 & $8300). Then we signed up for Angie’s List to check them out. The first only had one review but the second, more expensive, had about 10 and carried an ‘F’ rating!!! Thank You Angie’s List! We sorted by the number of reviews and found B. Griffith had the greatest number of reviews (103) AND the highest rating (92% -A) of any Tampa area roofers. They gave us an estimate for $6995 but there was also a coupon for $100 off from Angie’s List. The salesman met with us within a day or two of calling and gave us lots of information and choices. He gave us an estimate and about 4-5 days to finalize the color choice. He recommended going to Home Depot to view large samples of the shingles, which really helped. He said it would be about a week to 10 days before they would start, however, this did not happen. On the tenth day I called to see when the start day would be and just happened to speak with Brent, the owner. He said they could start in about 2 weeks. I explained the expectation we had been given and he then said “how about Friday?” and this was on Wednesday of the same week we had been initially expecting. So we felt this was still reasonable for our needs and expectations. The crews showed up when they said they would and got to work right away and were a very coordinated group. Each person knew exactly what they were supposed to do and did it. To the critical side, there were a couple of hitches that should be mentioned but are not large enough issues to diminish the quality of their workmanship or our recommendation. First, the estimate included three sheets of plywood and any other plywood would cost $58/sheet (cost of the wood + labor of cutting/installing). The crew that replaces the plywood indicated to us that they were probably going to use about another 12-13 sheets. We asked what the “per sheet” cost would be if we bought it and were told $20/sheet for the labor. We purchased 13 sheets of 3/8” 4-ply plywood at $12.38/sheet. This would have made our cost $32/sheet vs. $58 and would have saved us about $340. When the final bill came we were told the extra plywood cost was $40/sheet! If we had known this we would not have purchased it ourselves since we only saved about $73. Itemized savings is 13 sheets @ $5.62/sheet or gross per sheet cost: $40+$12.38=$52.38/sheet instead of $58.00. The other expectation was that we were told “we’ll paint the vents to match the shingles.” We took this to mean that GAF (shingle manufacturer) had paint colors to coordinate with their shingles and that the roofers take care of painting the vents. The vents are silver aluminum and our shingles are Weathered Wood. On the payment day we asked our salesman (who came by to get the cash) about the vents being painted and he said to just go to Home Depot and buy the spray paint. Though this turned out to be better because we were able to match very closely (Rust-Oleum Dark Bronze) we felt it was not in keeping with the expectation we had been given. As it turned out, the cost was $140 above the estimate and the workmanship is excellent. They completed the work on time and there were no “surprises” to speak of. Great crews, very professional and clean. If you have to have roofing done, call B. Griffith roofing. And thanks again Angie’s List otherwise we would not have known about B. Griffith and could have made a very costly wrong decision. We definitely would contract with B. Griffith again if ever there is a need.

They have been very courteous and done a good job.

They came when they said they would and completed it on time. They cleaned up everything and we are very happy with the service. They didn't even require any money before the service.

WORK WAS DONE QUICKLY AND PROFFESIONALLY. THE WORKMANSHIP IS EXCELLENT. VERY PLEASED WITH THE JOB PERFORMED BY GRIFFITH ROOFING. HE ALSO INSTALLED A FLAT ROOF ABOUT 3 YEARS AGO. VERY PLEASED WITH THAT JOB ALSO. I WILL RECOMMEND THEM TO ANY ONE THAT WANTS QUALITY WORKMANSHIP AND WORK THAT SHOWS PRIDE IN A JOB WELL DONE. THANKS FOR A GREAT NEW ROOF.

Brent Griffith explained to me that the source of the leak was around the chimney and the lack of quality work that was previously done. The roof shingles were not aligned correctly and the flashing was too low. In addition, Brent suggested that the wood should be redone around that part of the chimney to insure no leaks. Brent was patient, not pushy in any manner, professional and I could tell from my conversation with him that he was quality. I knew this because the said that we should use roof type screws rather than nails and tar to cover holes. John Lelekis Palm Harbor, Florida

Guys are professional, punctual, and reasonable. Bobby took the time to show me areas where there were serious issues in development but a little Preventative actions would derail some huge expenses. I felt confident with the work done and would hire them again in an instant, hopefully I don't need them though! Highly recommend them and they took the Angie's List coupon as well.

Our roofer left town, so we couldn't get him back to check it out. B Griffith did our son's roof, so we gave him a call. They were excellent. They came out immediately to check it. They said it was fine, it was an old leak that probably happened before the new roof was put on. He said the roof was fabulous. They didn't try to make up any repairs or anything. They are just great.

They took way longer than they said it was going to, but it doesn't leak and everything is fine with it. It also cost more than I had been quoted, but I was aware that there could be more rotted sheathing underneath that had to be replaced so they can't really know that until they start ripping it off. I was pleased with their work. He didn't call to tell me that there would be these delays, but he was nice and explained the job well, except that if he would have told me that this would have to sit for a certain amount of time and then we could come back and finish because of course I didn't know that.

Very prompt response to initial call for quote for flat roof repair. While working on the flat roof at the joint between flat roof and clay tile on the major part of home, found evidence of problems under clay tile. Home is 31 years old and clay tile was showing signs of age due to Florida's sun and rain. The materials under the tiles was cracking and many tiles were cracked too. Discussed costs of clay tile versus shingles with Brent Griffith. He was very honest that clay tile was going to be much more than shingles, and gave me a verbal quote of both. I decided on shingles. He provided us with several manufacturers' product descriptions booklets. All met the Florida Building Code 130 mph wind requirements. All the work was performed as quoted, especially the cleanup. Brent's crew left nothing on the ground. I noticed one of the crew cleaning my rain gutters, to get pieces of clay tile out. I looked around for nails the house after the job, but only found two. The magnetic collector used by Brent does the job. I recommend B. Griffith Roofing, Inc. to my neighbors.

I've used him both for a whole new roof on one house & a couple of leaks on this house. He's very professional, always calls promptly & does the work promptly! As far as the cost--I don't feel the need to shop around because I love doing business with him! I did learn 2 lessons. First, keep the roof free of debris & secondly, don't ignore a leak, it WILL get worse!

The price charged for the last job seemed to be okay. They show up when they say they are going to show up. They also finish the job when they say they are going to finish it. I didn?t have any problems with their work. They were great. Brent is the owner of the company. He paid the initial visit and the inspection was done as per his recommendations. His price was reasonable. I would definitely use his services in the future too.

Missed our first appt for quote but when he came out he took his time reviewing and explaining the problem. His quote was higher than the others but when we told him that, he matched the best quote. On day of service, they were prompt, polite, and cleaned up after themselves. Looks great and am confident they did a great job.

They were very good. They showed up on time and cleaned up upon completing the job.
