 + 1 moreBrent came out the week before the 4th and walked around the roof with me pointing out what needed fixing and gave me the estimate right there. His guys came out and worked all day on july 3rd and didn't finish but actually came back on the holiday and worked half a day to finish on the 4th.I was impressed they worked the holiday. Tough job in the heat right now, but everything is fixed now. I'm very happy with the job they did. Brent seemed very knowledgeable. I believe that I will hire him to do my roof when it needs to be redone.
Description of Work: I had roof damage after Tropical Storm Debby. The siding came off of my chimney. The wood behind had rotted and was letting water in the attic. They redid my chimney with a new stainless steel lid under the chimney cap. The put new wood on all sides that won't rot and redid the siding. They also re-shingled the chimney area, another spot near a skylight and fixed some buckled shingles. They also fixed some facia on the edge of the roof where the previous roofing company did a poor job. I had spare shingles in my garage that they used.

 + -1 moreI called B Giffith Roofing and got the owner. I explain that I needed a repair urgency and sent him infomation and pictures. I had to follow up with numerous call and spoke to a lady in his office. Two weeks later, they haven't return my call, not even to say they cannot do the work at this time or that they are not interested. They are very unresponsive. If I provided that level of service to my customers, I would be out of a job. I guess when you own your company, you can be arrogant. Anyway, I will not be doing any business with them when I go to replace my roof next year..

As I had an ongoing leak, I accepted the quote and asked only that repairs be done as soon as possible. B. Griffith Roofing sent a work crew to my home a week later than promised. The work crew did nothing. They say outside my home for hours and then just left without making any repairs.I have made numerous phone calls to B Griffith Roofing. I offered to pay far more than their guaranteed quoted amount if they would fix my roof. I spoke with the owner, Brent Griffith who told me he would inspect my roof the very next day and then he would call me. It's been well over a week and Mr. Griffith has not called. Today, my ceiling fell down into my daughter's bedroom because of the ongoing leak.What good is getting a binding quote, if the company will not honor it. What does an Angie's List A rating mean.This is the very first time that Angie's List has given me a misleading grade for a company. I am certain B Griffith Roofing once was an A rated company. Based on my experience, the B. Griffith Roofing Company should have an F rating.

 + 0 moreBrent came out promptly and provided an estimate to replace our roof. I called him back a few days later and booked the job. His crew showed up right when they said they would, and on the first day removed the old roof and replaced a number of boards that were starting to rot. They also installed the hurricane straps, taking numerous photos along the way. On the second day another crew began laying the new shingles and doing some carpentry work on the structure of a porch roof that had received some water damage. They also removed an old chimney that was no longer used and installed ridge vents. The new roof looks great - we're very pleased with the quality of work that was performed. As a note to their professionalism: after the roof had passed inspection one of the carpenters stopped back by. He was concerned that there might not be the proper number of supports for the gutter in the front. So he pulled out his ladder and added a couple more just to be sure. We appreciated his attention to detail, and for taking the time to make sure it was all 100%. We highly recommend B Griffith Roofing.
Description of Work: Replaced roof on 1,800 square foot home. Removed kerosene chimney, installed hurricane straps, and replaced underlying wood where necessary.

 + 0 moreThis group performed very well and I believe the value received for the price paid to be an excellent match.They did what they said they would do and did it when they said they would do it.Every day they cleaned up and gave me a progress report. There was some hidden wood damage and they repaired the damages quickly and with a reasonable cost for the carpentry and wood.In less than a week they pulled the permit, called in the inspections and had the final ok completed. They were not the low bidder. The lowest bidder did not have a current good rating on Angies List so I check on a house they did near me and they did not recommend them. The second lowest bidder had a decent score but Griffith roofing had better scores and there was not much difference in their pricing so I selected Griffith. I would hire them again and again.
Description of Work: Complete hip roof plus the flat roof over the patio. Owens Corning 50 year "lifetime" shingles with a secondary water barrier. The old roofing was removed and carefully taken away.Repairs were made due to rotten wood and some original construction defects that needed reinforcement.A full secondary water barrier was applied to the entire surface, A starter shingle was applied and the drip edge installed.Shingles were applied with an excellent finished look.All work completed in less than a week This group performed very well and I believe the value received for the price paid to be an excellent match.They did what they said they would do and did it when they said they would do it.Every day they cleaned up and gave me a progress report.  + 0 moreThey originally gave us a quote and about nine months later we called to start the project. When we called a second time, we requested a new estimate. They insisted we did not need a new estimate and they would honor the original price. They initially quoted us five hundred for each sky light but the final bill was seven hundred and fifty dollars for each. When I asked about the price, he explained that is the cost of each window and gave no flexibility. He did a lot of additional work and discussed the work with me prior. I was appreciative of that but he never discussed the price. His work was good, he was nice, professional, and very responsive. He also showed up on time. I feel the price was high for both materials and labor. He originally quoted $9,100 but the final bill was around $13,105. I wish we would have discussed the exact price prior to the work being performed.
Description of Work: They replaced our roof. They also replaced three sky lights in the home. The previous report had an error in it - the quality of the work looks fantastic and I have NO issues with the quality of the work or the communication. The quality should be an A and the price was a C. Overall the company was good. My only concern was that the skylights were quoted at $500 and everyone knew we lived on the beach and I had just replaced all the windows and doors with Miami Dade certified glass so the increase in cost was not acceptable. The other work again was very good in quality and we did discuss everything in advance. However, other than the cost of Stainless screws we never discussed price. That is probably an error on both our parts so that we could have avoided sticker shock on the final bill.

 + -1 moreI've been pleased with Brent, the owner, and the roof in general. I expect an error here and there and I expect it to be fixed, so in general I've been happy. The other two problems I needed fixed, it's been like pulling teeth to get them to come out and fix it, but they always came out and fixed it. However they've stopped responding to my phone calls and attempts to contact them concerning a new leak in the ceiling. If he would come out here and fix the problem, I'd keep using his service. UPDATE 5/30/12: Brent came out this morning and satisfied all concerns promptly, professionally and politely. I will not know if everything is fixed until it rains, but I am hoping everything is taken care of.
Description of Work: They put on a completely new roof in August of 2008 with a five year warranty.

Replaced lead boot flashings. Replaced all valley metal with aluminum valley metal. Re-roofed with dimensional shingles. Installed ridge vent. Replaced several sheets of plywood. Replaced 72 feet of 1x12 planks. Replaced 4 ft. section of rotted soffit.

 + -1 moreBrent Griffith came out to give us an estimate and we immediately knew we wanted to use B. Griffith to do our roof. He inspected our current roof and explained to us exactly what needed to be done. We already knew we needed a roof as we just purchased the house and had an inspection. The day they started we were expecting a bad storm that night so they made sure that they had all the peel and stick down before they left that night so we would have no problems! They ended up working until about 8 o'clock but they got it done and we were safe and dry that night! The roof turned out beautiful and Brent kept in touch with us throughout the process. I would highly recommend B. Griffith, they were punctual, professional and affordable and we are extremely pleased with the finished product.

 + -1 moreBrent's crews did a fantastic job! The first crew stripped the existing roofing in a day, and replaced some rotted sheathing. The next crew quickly prepped the roof and flashing for the new shingles and corrected the sheathing on the addition. Third crew reshingled the existing roof and the new roof on the addition. The crews were all very professional, and did a great job of the cleanup! The job was very impressive, with many of the neighbors asking for the roofers name so they could get work done. All of this was done under a time constraint, as we were leaving in a week and a half. Brent's crews came thru and got it all finished ahead of time. I would highly recommend B. Griffith Rofing for any type of roofing job.

 + -1 moreFirst I have to say that Brent is a stand up guy. In the process of replacing my roof he had the unlucky chance of hitting a refrigerant line in my air conditioning unit as well as the propane lines with nails puncturing both. Of course he had no way of knowing that these lines were so close to the roof and could have argued that according to code the lines should not have been that close to the roof and that it was my responsibility. However, this is the stand up part, he just took the repairs of both the A/C and propane line off the bill without a word to the contrary. Oh, and the job went great, the roof looks great, his workers arrived on time, took their time to do a good job and cleaned up perfect.

I don't think the original roof could have looked any better than it does now. His crew did a great job with not only the shingles, but also the metal flashing work was very professional.

We had to have our roof put on in a matter of few weeks and they told us they would have the job done In two days and started the next day. They cleaned up so nicely you couldn't even tell there was ever a mess there, even the roof inspector had nothing but good things to say about them, when he came out to do the final insepction he told us they did almost near perfect and it doesn't get better than what they did. I would have them out again for any roofing job!

 + -1 moreI had to arrange for the roofing repair long distance (always difficult) then fly in to be at the house for the repairmen. There was a slight bobble at the beginning since the secretary had neglected to put me on the schedule. However, when I spoke to Mr. Griffith, who remembered me, that was corrected immediately. I was not pleased initially but to me it's the sign of a good company that mistakes are handled quickly and without argument. I had a repairman there within the hour. He fixed the leak promptly and the work is guaranteed for 6 months. Overall, a very positive experience. The only thing I'd do differently is make my own confirmation call especially if I have to do another long distance repair.
