We had a leak in our bedroom and later discovered the leak was due to a bad seal with the duct work and the roof. We hired this company to replace the roof and hired another company to replace the duct work. (The company we used for the duct work was based upon a suggestion from BGR.) After the work was completed we had six additional leaks in our bedroom. We had this company come out each time to resolve the leak issue. Each time they had left they assured us the leak was fixed and we wouldn't have any further issues. They came out with a few other crews and finally came to the conclusion the duct work wasn't sealed correctly and the reason for the leak the entire time. The concern now is they gave us a bill for all 6 trip charges incurred from the duct leak. I spoke to the AC company, who installed the duct work, and they feel the roofing company should be held partially responsible for this bill because it took 6 times to identify the leak. My family has had to take time off work, lost sleep and paid additional fees to the laundromat (items that were wet caused by leak). I wouldn't leave this review but this company wants us to pay a $800 bill, which we feel we shouldn't be responsible for because the original work was not done properly. Also, the AC company wanted to know why the roofing company didn't check the seal with the roof, when that was the cause of the original leak and all the other leaks were in the same location. I didn't have an answer for him. I will say that the owner was very responsive to us when we called to report another leak. He and his crews were very polite, and took the time to explain what was going on and what work they were doing.
Description of Work: We hired this company to replace the roof and some additional work was required with the duct work. A few months after they installed the duct work, we had six additional leaks in our bedroom. We later found out this was caused by the original duct work not being sealed properly.

They called us back within twenty four hours from the time we called them up. The owner himself came out and did the estimate. The people that he sent out to do the repairs were very polite and mannerly. They were right on time and did a very good job. It was a very good price for what they did.

The workmanship was excellent. The fixed several things that the previous roofer from years ago had not fixed. Specifically some extensive termite damage that predated the last time the house was re roofed. I am confident that this time the roof was fixed correctly. I would use them again or recommend them without reservation.

The job went very well. The workers were punctual and worked until the job was completed. There was a time when there was a pending rain storm before completion, the workers made sure the roof was covered. When leaks were spotted indoors, they returned to not only further protect the roof but paint the offending areas inside the home. I was given a CD of photos of the roof being removed, replaced and then the final product. I was very impressed with their work, skill and the emphasis placed on the homeowner.

They are phenomenal, wonderful price wise. I found them through Angie's List and then subsequently found out that many people in my development including the golf club had used them. They are A++. They are meticulous, competitive in pricing, very responsive, incredible crew and are absolutely from start to finish including cleaning up. I have already referred them to 3 other people who have compared them with other people and have signed contracts with them.

We used the $69.00 big deal and were very disappointed with the service. The provider complained of having a bad back the first time he visited but returned within a few days. He climbed up on the roof, and then gave us a vague estimate. We love Angie's list but I feel he took advantage of Angie’s list due to he stated it was a special deal from Angie’s list. He gave us a couple of ideas about some small things to do to make the roof more secure instead of purchasing a new roof. Someone else came and put tar on the roof without charging us anything. A week went by before we received any information regarding the estimate. He gave us several different choices to choose from and left the decision left up to us without any input from him. We did not use the services.
Description of Work: We used B Griffith Roofing Inc. who only gave us an estimate around December 2012.

A team of five roofers arrived at my house early Monday morning and began working immediately. Overall, they spent two 10 hour days and one 5 hour days to complete the work and, while here, they worked constantly. They were probably the hardest working crew I've ever seen. They began stripping the old roofing off and immediately found a problem. When the original barrel tiles had been removed, that roofer left the concrete on the roof and just nailed the asphalt shingles on top of it. When that roof was replaced, the next roofer just added another layer of shingles. This caused additional work on the part of the Griffith roofer, which I readily agreed to pay. When the roofers got to bare wood, they replaced damaged or rotting deck boards, covered the roof with a peel and stick water barrier and, finally, dimensional shingles. The roofers were neat and ensured that the yard and driveway were free if residue and nails. I happily recommend B. Griffith Roofing!

Started early morning of contracted date, multiple workers worked all day without stopping even though more roof beams had to be replaced than originally thought. Supervisor checked work periodically and kept me informed of progress .When finished ,informed me when city inspection would be performed. After inspection,I called the office for final bill since no one came to the door to collect.

The project went well however it would have gone much better had I been prepped a little more on what to expect. There was no notice as to when the job was starting. They literally called me the morning they were on the way to my home to start. The second problem was my open rafter garage. As I had no idea debris would be falling into the garage, I wasn't prepared for what I walked into when I got home on day 1. Workers were still working until 8:30pm the first day and the garage was a mess. Brent with B Griffith Roofing had the crew come back and completely cleaned up the garage and around the outside of the house. They did a great job on my roof, it's been about a month with some heavy rain but no leaks. The final cost came in above the estimate, however, they did replace a number of boards as part of the process. All in all I was very happy with the work done and whatever complaints I had we're quickly remedied. I would use this company again.

Contacted them because they were highly recommended on Angieslist and had a special at that time for roof replacement. I also got estimates from 2 other highly recommended roofers and they gave me the lowest bid. They were also able to do the job immediately whereas other roofers needed some time to schedule the work. Roof replacement went fine with no issues. Everything was handled well remotely as I am an out of town owner.

I can't say enough praise about this roofing company! I got three bids on my replacing my roof and was really impressed with their bidding process, courtesy, fair pricing, attention to details, and their workmanship warranty - which was better than anyone's. There was no waiting for the quote as the owner presented a professional proposal with copies of their license and insurance certificate along with product brochures and sample books for me to choose my shingle color from - on the same day he came out to meet with me. The job went without a hitch and they exceeded my expectations in every area. I have a large house and they sent a crew of 9 to tear off the old roof and finished in 1 1/2 days (working over 10 hours the first day). The new shingles were delivered by their supplier and the installation (new flashing, secondary water barrier, shingles) took three days. The job was done carefully and their workers were hard workers and very meticulous. Each day they cleaned up the property and we couldn't find a stray nail or scrap of material anywhere. There were several areas of facia that were rotted and needed to be replaced and their carpenter was just exceptional. Brent (the owner) went above and beyond to make sure that we were satisfied customers. If you're looking to replace your roof and want quality workmanship that they stand behind, I highly recommend B Griffith! If there was an A Plus rating I'd give it to them!

Arrived promptly, gave me options for replacement and offered the most competitive price. Ultimately, the home buyer decided to accept a credit on the sale, so the roof was not installed. Brent Griffith (owner) surveyed the original roof. The Big Deal covered 2000 sf of roofing for $6000. He said my actual roof surface was 3000 sf, and pro-rated the additional 1000 sf for $2000 more, for a total of $8000. I trusted him on the square footage; it seemed a bit high (1400 sf house + 2-car garage, and not that steeply pitched a roof), but I sure wasn't going to go up there and measure it myself. The work proceeded on schedule. Griffith obtained permits and placed them properly on the house for the county inspector. The crew cleaned up my grounds quite well -- no nails or major tarpaper chunks left on the ground. The finished job passed the county inspection. Griffith came to the house after I called him to please come inspect the work so I could pay him the final $2000 after the up-front Big Deal payment, and he did a thorough job at that time. He personally removed all remaining bits of paper and other materials left on the house roof itself and others that had fallen onto my aluminum lanai roof. He noticed that the tiles and the front edge of the peak hadn't been snipped exactly flush with the wall line, and said he'd have a crew member stop by over the weekend to finish that off properly. As far as I can tell, someone did that while I wasn't home -- but didn't leave a note. Several problems: (1) Minor: When Griffith came to do the inspection and obtain final payment, he told me the crew had replaced 6 rotted sections of plywood at $50 each, and expected that the crew had notified me of that at the time. Well, they hadn't. My neighbor across the street, who works in her front-room office all day, had seen them remove and replace sections of plywood, and she had told me about it that evening. (2) Minor: Griffith had not brought his credit card scanner with him when he came to do the final inspection. When I called the office the next morning to give my credit card information over the phone, the employee who answered (after many, many calls to a cell phone with no mailbox set up -- not exactly confidence building) didn't know what the Angie's List Big Deal is or how much I had already paid or still owed because Griffith had the paperwork in the truck with him. Again, not exactly confidence-building -- and I refused to give my credit card information until I knew he fully understood my payment status. He called Griffith and then called me back when he had all the information, and we completed the transaction. I checked my credit card online for several days, and that charge was made correctly. (3) Major: When I was completing the warranty form for the Owens Corning shingles, I saw that Griffith had filled out his portion of it with the amount of shingles ordered as 2700 sf, not 3000. At this point, not worth arguing over. But it did lower my confidence level. Overall, the work is probably a great value, even if the roof measurement was slightly exaggerated, but the customer's communication with the office staff and work crew needs some improvement. I know this is a mom-and-pop operation, and I suppose it's honest enough and the work is good enough. If the communications had been better and the estimate more accurate, though, the rating would have been A instead of B.
Description of Work: Provided several options for replacement shingles with ample brochures and a few days for me to investigate the properties and reputation of each manufacturer and materials. Removed 22-year-old (original) roof on house. Replaced 6 sections of rotting wood discovered after work began. Put complete new roof (plywood boards, underlayment, tar paper, shingles, flashing, drip edge, vents and ridge caps, ) on house, including two new vents along the ridge.

Response from B Griffith Roofing Inc
Our crews are generally real good about notifying homeowners of woodwork that is needed, if it is an excessive amount. 6 sheets, in our opinion and compared to most homes, is minor and since we warrant our roofs for 10 years and it must be replaced, apparently the crew just went ahead and replaced it and continued working. Secondly, Brent doesn't carry our credit card machine around in his truck and yes, the gentleman in the office has no clue as to what amount our customers contracts are for; what they bought, etc. as he is our field superintendant and just answered the phone as a courtesy with being in the office. As far as many, many phone calls to a phone with no voice mail set up, I don't know what number she was calling as both the office phone and Brent and my cell phones have voice mailboxes and if no one answers the office phone, it rolls over to one of our two cell phones??! Last, I always list the exact square footage of someone's roof on the warranties - I do not include the waste factor. So yes, her roof was 27 squares but a total of 30 squares with hip&ridge and the waste factor included in it We have run our office like we currently do for years and our communication and scheduling between Brent, the workers, the office, and the customers is always thorough and runs smoothly so I apologize if she felt her experience/communication with her roofing project wasn't handled the way she would have liked to see it run. But I really wished and would have appreciated her calling and going over these few comments with me so I could have explained them to her instead of just taking directly to the comment section here and then me having to explain it all in detail like this. But, this is the explanation for all her concerns and I just want to say thank you member for your positive comments regarding the quality roof you received from us! Have a wonderful day.

Please note that this critical review is for the special purchased and not the overall quality of their work when it comes to roofing, as I have no background or knowledge regarding that part of their service. This transaction took place in June of 2012. This was around the time when there were quite a few tropical storms lining up each week, and I really wanted to have my roof looked at in case things got scary later on in the Hurricane season, which lasts until November. I purchased B Griffith Roofing's "10 Point Roof Inspection" for $89.00. My assumption here was that they would really take the time to inspect every inch of my roof and everything that goes with it, and let me know the pros and cons - how good is my roof's condition now? Is it falling apart, or can I go a few more years? I would consider these folks, who have been in the business for quite some time to be experts and quite knowledgeable when it comes to Florida weather and roofs. After the purchase, an appointment was set up and Keith (it says he is a Superintendant) on his business card, came out. It was late on a Thursday afternoon. He was a bit late for our appointment, but to his credit he did call in advance and let me know. I realize that when it comes to roofing and working outdoors, things come up that you cannot predict and that you must handle immediately. Keith was very professional. He introduced himself, explained that he was going to grab his ladder and get to inspecting my roof. Excellent! So far, so good! Good to his word, I heard footprints on my roof minutes later. About 15-20 minutes later, Keith knocked on my door, and I invited him in so we could discuss the results of his inspection. This is where things get a bit dicey. Keith took the time to explain exactly what was going on with my roof. Where the strengths and weaknesses were. What could have been done better and what is good as is. He stated that my roof, as it was right now, was fine - it had at least 3-5 more years on it and I shouldn't be worried. He then proceeded to write out a very nice and slick quote for a new roof. I don't have a problem with this; it's good to know that if you want a new roof, how much it will cost. You can then take that quote and compare apples to apples when it comes to other roofing companies. So - to recap: For my $89, I received a quote to let me know how much it would cost to replace my perfectly fine roof. I don't mind paying for services rendered, I just wish that along with that service, there was some sort of take away. My assumption when I ordered this service, is that when you advertise a 10 point special, you have a form or something that tells me what those 10 points are. Keith had a yellow legal pad and a bunch of drawings and scribbles on it. I understand that when you are walking on a roof, your focus needs to be on inspecting it and not falling off of it, but I really would have appreciated something that he could have used to translate those drawings and scribbles into laymans terms. He even took the scribble with him, so I had nothing but a quote and a business card at the end of the transaction. He also didn't have any promotional or educational material that would have shown me the different types of shingles, the colors available, etc,. that I could have put with my quote so that I could better visualize the roof that I was being quoted for. Circling back around, I purchased a 10 point roof inspection. What are those ten points? Shingles? Adhesive? Vents? Damage from wind, rain? I have no idea. How does my individual roof rate, perhaps on a scale of 1 to 5 or 1 to 10 on each of those points? If it rates a 1, do I need to get it taken care of immediately? If it rates a 5 or 10, can I go a few more years before replacing it? The more information you give me, on each of those points, using your expertise, the better decision I can make when it comes to my home and my roof. These are the things that I would recommend that B Griffith Roofing bring to the table when it comes to this particular special. Again, this review is ONLY for the advertised and purchased inspection. They have many glowing reviews that speak to the quality of the work that they do when it comes to actually roofing your house, and I have no reason to doubt those Angie's List customers who were super pleased with their work. I just wish that they had put more thought into this offer when they came up with it.

Great customer service! I've had several issues with roofing companies! Most of them false advertise and will not come for repair inspections! Alan's has the best warranty and they really are an Owens Corning preferred contractor. So many roofing contractors in Florida "LIE" about that and don't honor warranties. Lenny Gonzalez came to my property and gave me an honest inspection and quote! Another company repaired 1/2 of flat roof in 2010 and roof still leaks. Bedroom flooded during tropical storm Sandy. Insurance company was involved and I had to obtain 4-5 estimates. Alan's was the only company to provide me with an inspection and estimate! All other companies refused to come unless I wanted my entire roof replaced!

There was a delay between the rapid replacement of two adjacent skylights and a third one due to their supplier failing to send the properly sized skylight. Hence, the project took about three months from the time of initial contact. However, B Griffith Roofing was very apologetic about this turn of events and did not ask for payment until the complete job was finished. I would recommend them for roofing work.
Description of Work: B Griffith's Roofing replaced a total of three old skylights and repaired damaged roof structure around two skylights where water leakage had occurred.

Citizen's Insurance is the only insurance company in Florida that insures manufactured homes. They have their own independant roof inspector who inspected my roof last year and deemed the roof only had 3 yrs life expectancy. Citizen's sent me a notice that my insurance would be cancelled in June of this year if I do not get another inspection by their inspector and/or get a new roof. I called B. Griffith Roofing to give me an estimate for a new roof. Upon inspecting it, they called me and told me that I did not neet a new roof as it was in good condition and it should last another 10 years. Talk about an HONEST professional business! I will highly recommend them to my neighbors and friends and will use them when needed. Thank you Bret for your professionalism and honesty!
Description of Work: Inspected and advised on the roof condition of our manufactured home.
