The day James was going to get us a estimate our contractor came and will start tomorrow. This report is to state that James was very professional on the phone and had some advice for me even though he was not going to do the job.

He is very conscientious. He is a very good landscaper and we've had plenty of them. His prices are very reasonable.

 + 0 moreHad absolutely no problems. Jim stopped by and examined our situation. SInce this is the third time in 10 years that we've replaced sod, he gave us a few options to go with including NOT putting down sod and going with a ground cover. We still went with the sod along with having some old irrigation work corrected . Tuesday morning Jim and his crew showed up right on time and had the old stuff ripped out in no time. The sprinklers were moved, the sod was laid and they also installed two new heads to make sure there was total coverage for our new grass. Total time was 4 hours. His crew was very efficient and very clean, no other landscaping was disturbed and they left my front yard spotless. THANK YOU!
Description of Work: Replaced old dead sod in our front yard with new St. Augustine grass. Moved sprinkler heads and add two new ones in dry areas.

Description of Work: The cost of the job includes a lot of materials. JIm turned half of my front yard into a planted area. It really looks great. He put in edging, gravel, bark, plants and a split rail fence. He did the work to my plan and it turned out better than I would have thought. He does require 1/2 of the estimate up front, which was no problem and part of doing landscaping business. They worked hard and always kept me up to date on their progress. Very efficient and easy to get along with.

 + 2 moreEstimate was $4700.00 - I paid $1000 UP-front. Didn't tell me he sub-contracts for large trees ( I had 2 of them). he wanted me to cover his sub-contracting costs. His workers worked hard and did take alot of stuff out, but they dug instead of grinding stumps and crushed my water sprinkler system into pieces by doing so. Now I have to spend more money to repair the sprinkler system. Took down fence to get into back yard, and then LEFT JOB UNDONE and walked out the second day ( I ended up in hospital evening of May 2nd for 4 days which neighbor told him about and I was able to converse with him via cell phone and thru my neighbor). They LEFT FENCE ON GROUND, so I could NOT use my backyard to put my dog in and I have an in-ground pool which requires fencing. It is now 23 days later, and after several conversations with him and promises to come back and talk about finishing the job or at least mowing my lawn, I have yet to see him or his workers. His is very personable, and appears to be professional, but promises don't get the job done. Added note: He did the landscaping and currently still does the weekly grounds maintenance for the home only 6 houses away from my house - and yet, even though I saw his workers pass by my house every week, he did not instruct them to put the fence back up on my house. He had no need to come to my door unannounced - he could have simply instructed his workers to stop and put fence back up.
Description of Work: Cleaned up trash and cut down vines and a couple of smaller trees. Dug out trees/shrubs. He states he grinds the stumps out, but in fact he digs them and then leaves you with hugh holes in your yard. He did NOT REPEATEDLY CALL and show up with workers.IF HE HAD - THEY SHOULD HAVE PUT FENCE BACK UP SO I WAS LEGAL with my Pool - AND THEY DID NOT. . HIS 2 WORKERS DID NOT TOUCH the larger trees that he was going to sub-contract out - and they were only there for 1.5 days. He was NOT on the premises for the first day (Mon) after we went over the job again and walked out on the job the 2nd day (Tues) when my neighbor told him I was in the hospital. I called him from the hospital on Wed ( I was there thru Friday) and he said that he was not going back to the job - that he had to make 'other plans' for his workers/schedule. Why? He knew that my neighbor was in touch with me and was able to access my home. He kept putting me off when I called after I got out of the hospital. Promises to come by and at least mow my lawn ( which was never done) since he does yard work for a person down the street. Knocking on my door when you know I am at work is not productive!!! And if he was going to show up - why not call first? For someone who doesn't want to waste his time - it seems to me making continuous trips out to my house without letting me know is truly a waste of time and money and gas!!! I do doubt the sincerity of the statements in his response.

Description of Work: Replaced old pump with a new jet pump, reworked the piping near the pump, replaced 3 old valves, installed new timer, added a new pipe to supply a new spigot at the other end of the house, installed a 2nd spigot near the pump, and fixed a few bad spray heads. Advice and consultation.

Description of Work: Replacement of 4 sprinkler valves and 9 sprinkler heads. Also changed out the pipe to flexible piping due to the depth of the sprinkler heads and put covers on the valves.

Description of Work: Owner Jim and his employees did an excellent job on all landscaping jobs requested. Jim responded promptly to my phone request for an estimate and came at the agreed upon time. The job was completed in one day.

 + 0 moreJim was very quick to respond, straight forward with his quotes by presenting cost-savings options for me (e.g. me spreading the mulch myself), and quick with finishing the job. While sodding our lawn, he noticed a leak in my irrigation system that I had known about and hadn't had a chance to fix yet, and he fixed it for me at no additional cost bc I would have had to dig up the sod to fix it afterwards. Jim also checked up on the job a week later and again a month later. Great service, I'll definitely use him for future jobs. Thank you Jim!!

 + 0 moreWe had a fantastic experience working with Jim. He is knowledgeable and honest and doesn't try to sell you on anything unnecessary. He was always on time, if not early, and always called to give a recap of everything he accomplished in a given day. Jim coordinated the well drilling with a subcontractor, but first gave me the option of handling the arrangements myself. Jim set up the irrigation system so that it is easily expandable from 2 zones to 4 zones. If I ever decide to resod the back yard, I can just connect to the existing system. The project took 3 days total. One day to cut and remove the sod and install the irrigation system, another to lay the new sod, and a final day to drill the well and hook it up to the irrigation system. However, Jim's involvement did not end with the final payment. He has come by a few times to check on the progress of the sod and to fine tune the irrigation system for maximum effectiveness, even coming back out to add two sprinkler heads to a zone he felt could use a bit more coverage. Jim even stopped by a week and a half after completion...on a Saturday...to check things out just because he happened to be in the neighborhood. He is very responsive to any questions and has demonstrated that he has no problem coming out to make adjustments and address any issues. I would highly recommend Jim Knoebel and Second Nature Landscaping.
Description of Work: Jim Knoebel and his two man crew cut and removed the old sod in my 1100 sq. ft. front yard, removed two palms that were planted prior to our purchase of the property, installed an irrigation system for the front yard and a 4 point well for the irrigation system.

 + -1 moreHe's great. He did such a good job. I think they are really very good at what they do. When you present your ideas they are really good at intrepretting those ideas. They are punctual, very professional, very accomodating and they do a very good job. They are very well priced.
Description of Work: They did all of the front landscaping. They took out everything that was in there and replaced it. They did the hedges and bushes and he designed it. Some of it was already exisiting and we kept all of that. It was mostly along the front windows of the house and he made the walkway look really nice.

He was very professional and knowledgeable and investigated multiple options for us, including information on drilling a test well to evaluate the potential for well water for irrigation. He offered advice on needed repairs of some sprinkler heads before planting as well as marking of utility lines. He answered questions and offered explanations easily, helping to correct or prevent any potential problems. Jim was extremely patient with our need to evaluate and revise the landscaping project over a period of four months. He made multiple trips to our property and provided three separate estimates as we changed the scope of the project in response to our budget timeline. We have now completed this first phase of replacing our grass lawn with Jasmine and will have him back in the fall to complete the remaining areas. He arrived promptly when the work was scheduled, and it was completed efficiently - including great cleanup. He gave detailed instructions for watering and the care of the Jasmine so we feel comfortable knowing what to expect and how to get the best results. Overall, it was a pleasure to work with him and we look forward to completing our project with his company.
Description of Work: Jim provided a landscape design to address areas where grass was struggling to grow, and to also reduce future maintenance costs including a reduction in the amount of chemicals/fertilizers needed. He trimmed five live oak trees to provide increased light and air circulation and then planted Jasmine (groundcover) in the affected areas. The plants and surrounding beds had mulch applied. He also replaced 20 Indian Hawthorne bushes.

 + 2 moreI was very satisfied with them. I liked the guy; he was a good guy. We added a couple of things during the job so there were additional costs to his estimate, but I negotiated it. I talked to him and one other landscaper, and I think he was more of a full service guy and was able to do the whole job. Someone else said that he would have to sub contract out the sprinkler and everything. I thought his estimate was reasonable. I had some problems with the sprinkler so he came out and took a look at and fixed it but he didn't charge me anything. He stands behind his work. They were very professional and they left things cleaned up and out of the way. I would use them in the future for additional work in my yard.
Description of Work: I used the services of Second Nature Landscaping to redo my lawn in August or September. They re-landscaped the lawn; they ripped everything out including the sprinklers, fence, and everything.

 + -1 moreThey aren?t so hot; everything they planted died. They were prompt in first coming out but once they planted they disappeared. Once they got out here they dragged it out, when I asked them to come back out that took longer, and then there was attitude. They planted incorrect things and about 90% of them died so I had to have someone else come in. The price would have been reasonable if it had worked. Up front he was very courteous and professional but afterwards, on three different occasions, he brought his child with him and screamed at him the entire time. I understand sometimes you have to bring your child but the screaming was unpleasant.
Description of Work: Second Nature Landscaping removed some dead things and they planted some new things.

He gave me information about zones, installing of the heads, control location, etc. He was very professional and quite thorough. The job itself turned out to be more than I wanted to spend at this time. Once I am prepared to do so, this is the company I will be working with.

 + -1 moreJim of Second Nature was a real pleasure to work with. He listened to our ideas and plans for our new garden area, and then offered his professional views and suggestions. He took the time to walk us through the wholesale nursery explaining all plant possibilities before we reached a final decision on our choices. He and his assistant performed the actual work of sod removal, replanting/muching in just two days. He cleaned up the area completely and left us with a beautifully landscaped new garden. We would highly recommend Jim to anyone looking for outstanding landscaping performed at a very reasonable price.
