Please do not use this contractor. His motto, "Give me plans and get out of my way!" does not work when he is not open to listening to his client. We are very disappointed with his unprofessionalism, lack of communication and incompetence. Basically, he took our deposit and quit.

I would not know where to start with all the things that were wrong about this builder and the subcontractors he brought in?so whatever I put down here is the tip of the iceberg. In 2007 we had 2 additions built onto our house, all new siding, windows, roof, etc. which basically doubled the size of our home. My husband ended up firing the electricians and telling Mr. Schickley that they would not be permitted on our property again. But this was after they screwed up some things that could not be fixed. Mr. Schickley agreed to having some other electricians come out and finish the work?I only wish they had been the ones to do the work in the first place?they were very good, but they were coming in at the end of the job. We told Mr. Schickley repeatedly that we didn?t mind paying more for better quality, but he would just give us a blank look and proceed as before. There were issues with the siding?the nails used had huge heads on them, so they had to go back over every single nail, sink it and cover the head. There were huge issues with the painter. He was supposed to start in July?at this point there was nothing but drywall done?he could have used a paint gun to do everything and be done in no time. But he just wouldn?t come and do it. He finally showed up for a few hours? work and painted the wrong color, so now there was repainting to do as well as more painting. This went on and on until the tile and cabinets were in. Nobody was coming to finish up their work and complete the job, so we also moved our furniture in so that we could at least try to begin having our life back. NOW the painters show up?in December?4+ months later than when they were originally supposed to. They complained that they had to move furniture at this point. Really! I ended up firing them and hiring someone else to finish the painting, which was completed quickly and professionally. Mr. Shickley pushed very hard to get everything through permitting, but once that was done, the project dragged. Today we are having 6 skylights replaced which were part of the 2007 remodel, due to leaking that started 2 years following installation. We are having them replaced with Velux skylights, which are better quality than the ones Mr. Shickley talked us in to, and we are having them installed by a roofer who specializes in skylight installation. I would like to point out that skylight installation is not rocket science: my husband installed some Velux skylights in the living room in 2005, followed the manufacturer?s instructions for installation to a ?T?, and they have not leaked at all We never did have Mr. Schickley?s people do the interior trim on our windows. This was the last thing that needed to be done, and we were weary of people not doing their job or doing it poorly. Through Angie?s List we found a good carpenter and have had them done?they look great.
