It went very well. The entire process from selecting our design, to the installation and finishing of the job went smoothly The crew was professional, courteous and neat. They did a wonderful job and my deck never looked better. I highly recommed this company. I have added a before and after picture.
Description of Work: Resurfacing of the pool deck in the lanai.
I have a 717 sq ft screened in lanai that needed resurfacing. It had previously been coated twice with Sundek brand acrylic coating. But a few years later, a large air bubble formed under a small area of the coating near my patio furniture set and finally broke open/apart. The contractor that had previously applied the Sundek at my home no longer offered that service, and the new local Sundek dealer's estimate was nearly $4800, so I consulted Angie's list to pursue other options. After reading Angie's List reviews and several websites, I obtained an estimate from Miracle Coat Resurfacing in Spring Hill FL for only $2302.00, less than half of the Sundek estimate. Miracle Coat is a Meyer family owned and run operation that has been in business for many years. Unfortunately, the patriarch Jim Meyer recently passed away in January 2016. But his sons Chris and Tim Meyer are continuing to carry on the business. Chris came to my home to provide the estimate and show me a sample of the coating and the available colors. Unlike Sundek, Miracle Coat has the color mixed into the coating material, not just painted on top. Chris assured me that it would be much more durable than painted on coatings. In addition, the coating is applied in two stages, a skim coat and a textured coat that is hand-troweled, followed by two coats of rolled-on clear sealer. So I had the option of having a two-tone look. I chose an underlying skim coat in Taffy beige, which matches the primary color of my house stucco, and a textured top coat of Apache, a bone or off-white color that matches the soffitt/fascia and trim of my house and complements the white aluminum enclosure. The final bicolor Spanish Lace stucco-like pattern result is really gorgeous, much classier than the previous monotone Sundek. The job took 3 visits. During the first visit, one person pressure-washed the lanai and repaired the breach in the previous Sundek coating. The skim coat was applied the second day, and the textured coat and sealer were applied the third and final day. The only slight concern I had was that they used an organic xylene-based sealer which of course emitted alot of VOCs on the first day and required them to wear a respirator during application. Fortunately, that xylene odor dissipated within 1-2 days. Initially the sealer appeared quite shiny, but that gloss dissipated after curing and now there is just a nice subtle sheen to the patio, which further deepens the color and enhances the marbled look. The use of the organic sealer probably improves the durability, but it did require a minimum of 5 days to cure before I could move my patio furniture and grill back into the lanai. The 2-3 workmen included Tim Meyer. The men were all very prompt, cordial, careful, and conscientious in their work. I was impressed by the neat and clean edges where the patio meets the house walls. In addition, they even applied the two-coat texture down the vertical sides of the door pads! It is refreshing to observe people who really care about the quality of their workmanship. They also cleaned up completeIy and kept to their estimate exactly. I am very pleased with the result and the overall service experience and would definitely recommend them to others.

1 ) ---- We were promised that this would be a product that would last many years, to be exact, the owner/ President, James Meyer who sold us the job said he's sold over 5000 jobs to date and assured us we'd be happy. 2) ....... The process went well as the workers sprayed on the so called Miracle Coat finish and then finished the job with an Acrylic Sealer, but about a month after the completion of the work, we started to notice something was bleeding through the so called Miracle Coat Resurfacing product they used. We tried calling James Meyer ( President of the company ) which we had to leave a message due to no one being in the office, if there's really an office, we waited a couple of weeks for a return phone call, which finally did come. Mr. Meyer was informed by me of the job not being right and we had a problem with something bleeding through ... he said he would come to look at it, but when he finally did, I guess a couple of weeks after our conversation, he didn't know what to say, other than he would send someone back to stain the entire patio to cover up any bleed through that was occurring. Now keep in mind that he was going to STAIN our cement decking, over the Miracle Coat he put on, but when I questioned the worker as to what kind of stain he was using, his reply to me was, " I'm using a regular cement stain from Lowe's or Home Depot ". So here we paid $ 1,450.00 for this so called Miracle Coat and wound up getting a regular stain from home depot, but that's not the worst of it, before the staining began, I told the worker that he should not be doing this staining at this time due to a rain storm approaching, but his comment was " it will be ok, it's a quick drying stain and I've done it before ", well, as he was staining, the rains came and he continued to stain my decking in the rain, the job was under a deck, but with the wind and the rain coming down, the decking did not protect the wet stain. Needless to say, after his staining was done, I guess it was about a week or so, the decking started to blister, so I contacted James Meyer again and notified him or our problem, and also mentioned to him that the job was done in the rain, so he decided to come to take a look at our newest problem, which again took a couple of weeks for him to come to see it. When he saw the blistering of the stain that his worker painted on in the rain, his comment was, well, I'll send him back to stain the decking again. I agreed at first, but after another week or so following the staining process that was done in the rain, we began to see blistering over the entire decking and peeling in various areas due to the stain never drying properly because of the job being done in the rain. I'm thinking, why should let him use a stain after paying for a special product that was supposed last for many years, or as Mr. Meyer put it, " a lifetime". With all the issues we had, and the poor workmanship done by Mr. Meyer's workmen, we decided to ask for a full refund of the $ 1,450.00 job since our decking was ruined and we would have to hire someone to remove the the Miracle Coat Resurfacing product along with the stain, but when I requested a refund, Mr. Meyer's reply to me was " WE DO NOT GIVE ANYONE A REFUND " but we'd be willing to repaint your decking " well, I'd have to be out of my mind to have these people come back to my home to do anything .... so our next step is to sue Mr. Meyer in a court of law and provide the courts with photos of our poorly done job. When I mentioned that I was going to sue him for a refund, his comment was " go right ahead, we've been sued before ". I would not recommend this company to my worst enemy .... the workmanship is very poor, Mr Meyer will sweet talk you when looking for a contract from you, but afterwards, WATCH OUT ... as you've heard many times I'm sure, BUYER BEWARE .... This is definitely a company you should stay away from.

Response from Miracle Coat Resurfacing
Job is +-600 sf. We have gone over several 100 jobs that have been painted, and the original coating adhered very nicely to the painted surface, This job, however, must have been painted several times with one of the paints being an unusual base paint like a product not designed for concrete, such as an oil based product. I would like to point out that our product did cover the concrete, although, I felt that we should address the Cosmetic Problem, thus a Sherwin Williams Stain which we have used successfully many times. The only thing that occurred at this point is that during our installation we encountered rain! We have to deal with moisture all of the time in FL. The stain developed slight bubbles! The correction is to let it dry out then apply a second coat. The owner refused to let my installer complete this task I informed to the owner that it is our obligation to apply any number of coats to complete the job to our standards. I don't care how many it takes. We always honor our warranty, His solution was that he wanted his money back!!! This is a very minor problem and I informed him that it can be resolved quite easily. He mentioned Taking me to Court, which I have been several times as a Cement Engineer for two major Cement Production Companies. I would like to go on record to assure him we are very capable of solving this problem and still offer our standard warranty. He did find it comical that we have been in the Decorative Concrete Business for 18 years in the Tampa bay area with over 5000 successful Projects, and we have never had to give a Contract Amount back due to our inability to perform!

Everyone involved in this project did an excellent job. Jim, the owner, provided us with a variety of solutions for the area that we wanted to have resurfaced. He understood our budget constraints and was able to work within it. The first part of the project, removing the river rock, was quite an undertaking but Johnny did an excellent job. The surface was coated several times and then sealed which took several days to complete. Both Johnny and Scott were very knowledgeable about both the procedure and the product used. Both took pride and their work. The area was left extremely neat and clean when the job was done. We are very happy with the service we received and the area looks great.
Description of Work: Removed river rock from pool/patio area and front entry of house. Re-coated and sealed the entire area. Surface now looks like flagstone pavers.
Workmen arrived early each day and did their thing, They were very professional and made sure that all adjacent surfaces were covered before applying materials. I was very impressed with this company. On our pooldeck the seal coating did not appear to dry properly in one spot which I hadn't noticed,. They noticed and told me they would return the next day and re-do the area which they did. Our place looks beautiful and I would recommend them to all.
Description of Work: Surfaced two driveways, side walks and resurfaced pool deck.

They had a very clean operation. We were very amazed at how they put the original deck and pressure wash it and then spray a base coat and they put the pattern down (a huge roll) then they spray on a substance that has some small rocks in it that makes it look like a brick surface and they add another outer-coating to seal it. It is color coordinated to the outer part of the house and that makes it nice.
Description of Work: They took our existing deck and transformed it into a work of art.
