Kron & West Air Conditioning

I was having a problem with another provider (see my review of National Heat & Air) and wanted a second opinion. After I made the original call, my system began to shut itself on and off. They responded immediately and fixed the problem as well as giving me the second opinion I was asking for.

I pay once and they come twice a year for checking up. They have been excellent for all unit sent to me. When you call, they do not hesitate to come. They have a good quality of work.

They're very good. I was not here but my wife said they were fine.

Technician wes punctual and professional. He explained what he was doing at each step and made sure that I approved of his suggested course of action. The receptionist was also very helpful - and was able to get the technician out shortly after I called. This was doubly impressive, since a current heat wave seems to have other shops slammed with repairs - and unable to return calls or take on jobs.

He had to order the part to fix my heater, which came very quickly. They were very professional and on time. I was very pleased with their service, and would definitely recommend them to any member of Angie's List.

Bob Shiminske seemed knowledgeable and recommended a system that would work for our home. The installers, Nate and Steve, were personable, punctual and seemed for skilled at the job. One small issue in the install, due to the age of the old equipment in the home, was addressed quickly and to our satisfaction. We are very pleased to have done business with this company and expect all future regular maintenance contacts to go just as well.

Excellent on-time, efficient installation. Took less than estimated time, total clean-up, took extra steps, including painting, to make the installation appear less institutional, made sure it cooled to setting quickly before they left. One of few companies in area able to install this type of unit. They worked hard to locate a unit in the Southeast, then dealt with hassles getting it shipped. Installed it as soon as they had it. They thoroughly explained maintenance of the unit, showing us component parts, and demonstrating actions. Left instructions taped to unit. We were very, very pleased with the whole experience.

Came out, charged me for telling me that the A/C unit was not working and then quoted a crazy price for a new system.

From sales to installation everyone was very professional. Really appreciated the installers, who were there the entire day, and were quiet, respectful, and nice to our dogs. They even made sure they closed the gate every time they went in and out of the yard to prevent our puppies from getting out. Leonard couldn't have been nicer and provided excellent follow up.

K & W service people were creative in figuring out a different way to route the lines involved. They were pleasant, professional in manner and punctual. The office provided us with a comprehensive estimate. The actual work was done under hot conditions and in a cramped space.

We couldn't have asked for better service! We called at 4:50pm and it's August, when I'm sure they're very busy. Within 20 minutes the tech was here and another 20 minutes later, they were finished up! John was very professional and explained the cause of our problems. We asked him about some services, like cleaning the unit, that we had planned on doing. John was very up front with us and said that due to the old age of our unit, he would leave things be as long as it's working. He also spent some time explaining how the units all work together and gave us some advice for the future. We very much appreciated his honesty and will definitely be using their services again in the future!

The Kron Air Conditioning specialists had to be rescheduled for one week due to Tropical Storm Andrea. The Kron employees were all understanding and new appt. was scheduled quickly. On the service day, Nathan arrived even a few minutes early, which I really liked, because for most things it seems people show up late. Two service reps performed the work, although I had only expected one. Tut it makes sense since one could be working an air handler/or thermostat and the other could see what was going on at the condenser. They completed the work quickly and efficiently. They explained things to us about how to get the best performance from our units and they were very pleasant and courteous. The overall experience was very professional and pleasant.

I selected 3 of the best companies I could find through personal references and from Angie's List. The guys from Kron were prompt, efficient, knowledgeable and on top of all that, they were competitively priced for the exact same unit. I liked them and would highly recommend them.

I have a 3 ton Trane unit; the blower stopped working on Saturday. The part was ordered and installed this morning (a generic model could not be used in this unit). I paid the $139 emergency fee to come out on a Saturday, minus the coupon from this site. They were here at 8:30 this morning; replaced the blower motor a couple of fuses, checked the freon (did not need any) and I have a year warranty on the parts and services. The employee on Saturday (Brad) and today (John) were very professional, polite, and courteous. I would definitely use this company again. Excellent customer service and repair.

This is a rental property and the K&W service manager took the time to check with the service tech to explain to me all the details of the service call. I would like to note that K&W has been servicing this system and another for me for at least 15 years. They are prompt and thorough. I recommend them highly.

We started shopping last spring for a replacement heat pump system. We have two units based on the size of our home, one of compressor units was leaking freon and it needed to be replaced. Based on the age of the units we elected to replace both systems. We were given multiple options. Kron & West worked with us around our time table while we had some other renovation work done at our house. We did shop for competitive bids, Kron & West's price was competive and we felt they offered a better brand system. We selected a Trane system, they answered all of our questions before and after installation. When it was time for the installation they sent two crews and the job was completed in one day. There office staff has been pleasant and helpful any time we called. The job came in on time, and was on budget. They were great.

I called Home Depot to replace my AC and they sent their subcontractor, Kron & West to do the job. I did not deal with Home Depot except for the first phone call. Overall, I am very happy with the job done. The company was responsive and punctual and did the instal as soon as it was feasible. I started the process on Thursday and the AC was installed on Monday. The process went quite smoothly and I did not ask questions of the workers and stayed out of the way, but they also did not offer updates. The "old" thermostat I had was an electronic one in working order. I asked one of the workers what happened to it when the job was done and he said that they were going to dispose of it because I did not indicate I wanted to keep it. But they got it off the truck and gave it back to me. The same happened with a washable AC filter which was still usable because it was the exact same size as the new AC filter. As far as the AC price goes, I could have gotten something at a lower price, but how do I know how long that company will stay in business? The AC I got was a 2 ton Rheem, 14.5 S.E.E.R.

Excellent response time. Came and repaired unit in one day. Prices were half of what Bayside AC had quoted.

They did a fantastic job. I can't say enough good things about them. They weren't the cheapest, but they were very fairly priced. They were there second least expensive, however the quality of work was incredible. They came out and inspected everything. They were very professional and wore uniforms. They couldn't say ma'am and sir enough. They did an incredible job and it was reinspected twice and they called to check on everything. I would give them higher than an A. I would recommend them use them forever.

They are very good. I have been using them for years.

Using Angie's list I called four A/C companies with the story of my 2009 York air handler in my attic that had a coil that had gone bad for a 2nd time in under two years. The first time the builder replaced under the new home warranty, but the second time I had to deal with it. Of the vendors I called all were surprised that coil would fail twice in less than two years and some suggested I call York and get them to replace it, since it may be a defective coal design. My take on that is, I'm not an A/C technician, I'm hiring one of these companies to help me and that help should include dealing with the vendor on warranty or faulty product replacement. Of all the companies I talked to, only one called the York on my behalf, Kron and West. The other companies wanted anywhere from $700 to $900 to install a new coil and there's no guarantee it would not have been another faulty coil. Kron and West took the time to do the research and made sure they were installing the new, updated coil from York that replaced the faulty coil. Because the coil was faulty, York covered everything, parts and installation. Kron did a professional job getting everything installed and when they left my A/C was working and cold and almost three months later it's still working well. I am so impressed with how Kron and West treated me, I will be signing up for their annual maintenance plan on my two A/C units after the summer to have them come and do semi-annual maintenance on the units. With the $700-$900 they saved me (and perhaps more because they used the corrected coil, another company may not have and I'd have been replacing it again for another $700-$900), my maintenance will be essentially free for a number of years! I highly recommend Kron and West.
