Only fence company among seven that I called that bothered to come make an estimate. A couple weren't interested in small non-insurance residential jobs, which I believe may have been related to the hurricane which hit over 75 miles from us, a real windfall for crooks. Two quoted me a price without even coming to look at the proposed job. While the quotes were both about 80% of what I eventually payed, I don't think it's too smart to make oral contracts over the phone for major repair work. The bottom line? If a friend asks for a recommendation, I'm going to tell them to call Shalimar Fence Industries; I'm happy with the work and I trust their business practices.

Poor communication, poor customer service, complete disregard for the customer's time. I would recommend finding a different company.

Sent a detailed drawing to the office manager Elaine. She was a bit gruff but said she would have her guy look at it. Her estimator showed up unannounced and rudely told my wife it was against code for where we wanted to put the fence and took off. I called the municipality that I live in and had the planning department verify in writing that the fence was absolutely acceptable. Sent Elaine the info so they could estimate the project. No email back. Called Elaine to see if I could get an estimate. Got the voicemail. Left a message. No call back. Called and emailed again....same results. The fence is now in and I am quite happy with the work so maybe it was a good thing. I will be posting the review of that company shortly. It was a medium to small project so maybe they were not interested, but a little professionalism would go a long way. If your not interested in the project at least email or call back. If you have a small project you might be weary of this company.

They added additional posts and removed the sag. So far, so good.

I thought that having the large oak tree removed ( that was growing through the middle of my fence) was going to be the big issue. That turned out to be easy. Trying to find a company willing to do the fence repair, once the tree was gone, was a nightmare. Shalimar Fence was one of only two (out of six companies I called) that was willing to come out to do the estimate on what was deemed 'a small job.' I got the estimate and once I accepted the estimate, I was promptly put on their schedule for the repair. The morning they were supposed to come out, I received a phone call that, due to call-outs, they were shorthanded and the repair would be delayed one day. The next morning they arrived promptly and got to work. They cleverly figured out a way around the stump issue (using metal posts) and the fence was repaired quickly and beautifully. Very professionally done. The fence is straight and even. They cleaned up meticulously as well.
