Tim Barrett started pressure cleaning our home's exterior to get it ready to paint and do repairs as agreed upon. The first day we noticed the employee of his that was pressure cleaning was not very proficient. The machine was on alot but not being used fully (on the phone alot, taking lots of breaks). We noticed that he had an extension on his pressure wand but our house is about 2 1/2 stories high, and it was not very powerful at second story level and it couldn't reach all of our house (mainly it was just misting it) I talked to Tim about our concerns about all the peeling paint and the house not being totally done. Tim said it would be done correctly and he uses a conditioner that would push down the sides of peeling paint. We also notice they were not using any ladders to get higher up. After we spoke with him he seem to see that we were watching them on their completeness and correctness of their work. It seemed like they were going to do it correctly at that point. We continued to watch. On the second day Tim bought some scaffolding over and we thought that they were really going to do the job correctly. Then we noticed he did basically one side with scaffolding to reach higher to please us but never did the identical other side of house. At the end of the second day, paint chips were all over our pavers which is all around our house. I thought I would be nice and myself and eight teenage boys spent the afternoon/evening cleaning up the mess for Tim( for over 5 hours). While cleaning up we noticed that on the bottom half of the house there was so much peeling paint left on the walls everywhere( this was already pressured cleaned and they considered it done). I could take my fingers and grab the peeling paint and pull it off. I am not a professional painter but I know if you paint over this, your house would be a mess within month of being done. You could never be able to rinse off your house. If the bottom part of our house was done this way, I was really concerned about the higher parts of the house because it was only mist with the pressure cleaner or not touched at all. We also noticed that they never rinse the dirt down and there was a lot of dirt/sand laying on ledges (painting over that would also be disastrous). I tried to rinse it off as best as I could so they would have a clean surface to paint. This is what I was paying them for, but I figure it was easier for me to do so it would be done right. Then next morning the employee came and he tracked in dirt (on porch) and was putting some plaster on the porch ceiling, plaster was on the floor where we had cleaned the dirt and paint chips. Employee was not using and tarps for floor. We wasted our time cleaning floor which was going to be painted because he was not using any tarps. I cleaned the floor because of dirt residue and I did not want it to be painted with that still on it. I told employee about all the paint peeling and he looked surprised. I then proceeded to show him the numerous problems. I asked him if the paint conditioner would take care of it. Obviously he had to tell me the truth and he said no. Then he said he did not want to speak for his boss(Tim) so he said he would call him. Employee agreed it was a problem and it could not be painted over. About 30 minutes later Tim came and I heard a boom and Tim was grabbing his stuff and told me was not going to finsh this job. That he was leaving the job as is. I said why? and he did not answer me. I said I did not understand, all I was doing as a customer was trying to find out what he was going to do about the peeling paint. That I was concerned if he painted with all that tremendous amounts of peeling painton the walls and dirt debris that I would be wasting thousands of dollars. I just wanted my house pressured cleaned correctly, rinsed, and painted where it would last for a while. I even told him we spent hours cleaning for him to be nice and to help him. Tim never even acknowledge it. In conclusion of the whole situation I think Tim thought I was a naive lady and he could come in and quickly, lightly pressure clean my house and lightly paint it. It would look good for a month then It would be disastrous and he would have his money. Easy money. But when Tim knew he had to do the job correctly and spend the time on it he quickly wanted to leave and he did. He left us to clean the mess he made and our house is all torn up on the outside. I never seen a painter like this, he seemed nice and professional but in the end he just wanted easy money. I am glad he did not start painting because the paint would probably have be so thin so he could save money on that too. What a shame we have painters out there that give a good talk on what they are going to do but then cut lots of corners to get in and out of the job quickly to make a good profit. Then the customer sits with a useless paint job and is out thousands of dollars and then have to paint house again.I have pictures of the walls and how he left my house.I am truly disappointed in Tim Barrett.
Description of Work: Tim Barrett was to pressure clean the exterior of my 2 1/2 story home, do some minor repairs and then paint and clean up. Tim started the job and then walked off the job leaving us with a big mess.

Response from Tim Barrett Painting Inc
A detailed work order on the contract showed a list of 13 steps to be performed regarding the painting of this house, painting itself being number 11. Step one was to pressure wash the house, which we did twice. Step two was to scrape loose paint. We wanted to move on to step two and scrape the loose paint, and the customer repeatedly stated "You can't paint my house." Customer came out of residence and stated she didn't want us to paint her house because her window guy ripped her off, her cabinet guy ripped her off, and her bathroom guy ripped her off and now I was trying to rip her off. I stated that if she felt that way it was better that I didn't perform the job. The customer just went back into the house and then left. I packed up and prepared to leave. Customer came back and inquired about my leaving. I stated to her "You feel I am trying to rip you off. It is just better that we part ways." She stated that if I left she was going to attempt to destroy my reputation with bad reviews. When we left everything was clean. This is a professional company. I do not rip customers off. She was never charged for any work done. It is unfortunate how things worked out, but after all my years in business this is my only bad review.

Tim was always on the ball answering all our questions. He let us know all the steps and processes to painting the house. He and Mike were always on time and worked throughout the day. Due to weather Mike worked on Saturday to ensure they finished on time. They did a top notch job and we are very happy.

Tim had a detailed estimate which he laid out what our project required i.e. cleaning prior to painting, removing switch plates, repaired a door frame, repaired some drywall, brand of paint,....down to the smallest detail....he addressed it. He suggested that he could send photos of the job as he goes along...he did better than that...he sent videos.... We could not be more impressed with his clean up after the job as well...We are thrilled with him and his work We would most definitely use this contractor again....He did exactly as he said he would do....and then some
He follows through on callbacks. He was punctual in regards to giving a quote. The overall job was good.
