Grade: A+. Larry Hall, the company owner visited with us twice to assess the job and review his proposal. He is always polite, professional, very knowledgeable and communicates frequently. We agreed to a price and a start date. Larry's men began work on the promised start date. Demolition work was done by Eric using a skid steer loader. He is nothing short of a maestro with it, Our driveway was two inches thicker than anticipated but Eric dealt with it with ease. One area of our driveway was 12 inches thick (an unexpected surprise) which broke Eric's equipment but he had it repaired and was back on the job in a few hours. Of special note was the concern shown by Eric for our sprinkler heads which sit inches from the driveway. The demo work generates large amounts of broken concrete which were deposited in dumpsters delivered by Tim from Express Roll Off. Another highly qualified professional who showed great concern for our lawn and sprinkler heads. Tim also delivered the crushed concrete which forms the base for the new driveway. He took special care to ensure the loads did not spread out into our grass as they were dumped. Following demo work, the pavers were delivered in increments over three days. The lift vehicle used has to drive on the lawn but it has wide tires so no damage resulted and the drivers were very attentive to our sprinkler heads. Larry's crew showed up and did a beautiful job of installing our pavers and edgers. Had two small issues. Rain-hey it's Florida, and they ran short of edgers which delayed completion for a couple of days until an additional amount was delivered and set. The work is just a pleasure to look out. Perfectly straight lines, symmetrical curves and exquisite attention to detail. Throughout the job Larry's two assistants, Dylan and David appeared as needed and handled the irrigation pipe issues, did some concrete cutting work, removed excess pavers to keep our lawn from developing patches, cleaned the job site (immaculately), laid some sod along the driveway edges and tore out and replaced a small patch of concrete. Polite, capable and thorough are good descriptors of them and the work they did. We are very pleased with the quality of the work done, the price and the professionalism of everyone on the job site and especially with Larry. He understands the most important thing for a good contractor-communication. He was on the job every day and communicated by phone and text to answers questions and keep us informed of what was going to happen each day. Lessons learned: 1. Mark the sprinkler heads with surveyor flags. I did this ahead of time and it worked wonderfully. If the workers know where they are they will diligently avoid them and any damage that could result. 2. Quality Paver Services was the only company that included irrigation repair and sod installation as part of the job. Other bidders stated this will be billed as extras to the contract.
