+ -1 moreMr.Olson is one of a kind. I spoke with him about my washing machine issue, he told me he does not deal with my brand of washer but he came and gave it a shot to see if he can fix it anyway. He could not fix it.He suggested I call the manufacturer. He did not charge me a penny. He is very courteous, ask me if I want him to wear a mask and oblige when I said I would appreciate it, I am a high risk individual. Thank you Mr.Olson for being such a great person. Very much appreciated.

+ -1 moreMr. Olson of Olson Appliance Svc arrived and we discussed the microwave oven problem. After evaluation, he advised that the main board was out and that the replacement part would cost just about as much as a new unit. He said he would gladly repair it but that I should think about it and consider just buying a new one. He said he was not able to help me with the installation as that was a bit beyond his physical ability. We agreed that I would contact him if I needed the repair. I asked about the bill and he said it could wait until I decided on the repair or replacement. In passing, I pointed out a problem with our trash compactor. Mr. Olson fixed it. We have been able to use the microwave though it is limping along. I have not made a decision because my lovely wife wants to rebuild/redecorate the kitchen around the new microwave. Had it not been for this evaluation reminder, I would have not recalled that we still owe Mr. Olson for his trouble call visit. I would gladly recommend Mr. Olson and will be calling him for any appliance repairs in our home. Mr. Olson, please send us your bill!!!

+ -1 moreI called yesterday, he called back and said he could come today. He called today and said he would be here around 10:00 a.m. and he was here 2 minutes early! He isolated the problem, got the parts from his truck, and got the dispenser to work within 20 minutes total time. It was great, efficient, almost too easy!

+ -1 moreItems in my frostless freezer were icing up badly (GE fridge model PTS25LBMARCC). I told Tim my evaporator fan needed replacement (noisy and gets stuck) . Tim replaced the evaporator fan. Problem: Items in my freezer are still icing up. Tim came back and tightened the waterline to the ice maker. Problem: Items in the feezer are still icing up (not as bad but, bad enough). I think one or more thermostats should have been replaced when the evaporator fan was replaced (GE recommended). Maybe the seal is not working properly (maybe due to improper leveling). Maybe the defrost cycle is not working properly (a little too warm, too long). Maybe the control board is bad. I told Tim, Sears never leveled it properly. I don't think Tim checked the leveling. I told Tim I had a problem with my GE washer (agitate speed control knob not working). Tim said he won't work on that model. I think $179.00 is a bit high to replace an evaporator fan. I expected the service call fee to be applied to the labor charge as other techs have done in the past. Tim does not work that way. That was a surprise! Tim is a very nice guy, prompt and professional. He is a little lax in taking the extra time to service my fridge (leveling, check rear coil - vacuum if needed, check thermostat operation, control board operation etc.). I may call Tim again to come out and find the problem with my frostless freezer icing up or..., I may call a factory authorized GE tech.

+ -1 moreowes wMy microwave died on me and Tim came by the same day I called to look at the microwave. He tested the micro and figured it would be cost effective to buy a new one. I bought a returned microwave at Lowes which did not work out. I had to get one that was in the box my wife said(tried to save a buck). Tim was very patient with me and my wife. I ordered a new one an Tim put it in. Thanks Tim for your patience.

+ -1 moreHe came over within 30 mins. of being called, and was able to make a temporary repair until the exact part was available. He had the part the very next day, and the refrigerator has worked perfectly since. As the refrigerator stopped working on a Sunday, it was a HUGE relief to have if back up and working by Monday afternoon. (Especially as my Mom is elderly and has health issues.) I will definitely call him for any future appliance issues.

+ -1 moreHe completed the job in an hour , which most of the time was melting the block of ice around the coils. He replaced the heater and cleaned up completely. I am having him do some additional repairs and replacements on other appliances. I rate this service provider as an A+
Description of Work: Our second large side by side refrigerator in garage is freezing up. He come our and indicated that it was completely frozen top to bottom on the freezer. He showed me the 5 foot block of ice after taking off the inside rear freezer panel. He melted all the ice which took quite a while and replaced the heater which was bad. He throughly cleaned up and provided the bill. He was on time and very pleasant to work with.

+ -1 moreOur Maytag washer suddenly "forgot" how to spin right in the middle of a load of clothes on Tuesday, July 10. While it would fill and agitate, it wouldn't spin on any cycle. At 10:45 am the next day I phoned Olson Appliance Service based on the many great recommendations from other Angie's List members, and left a voicemail message describing my dilemma. Mr. Olson called back later that morning saying that he would be in our area on another job and would stop by that afternoon. He appeared at our door when he said he would, disassembled the machine, found no problem, and reassembled it. The machine worked and has been fine ever since. Mr. Olson wouldn't accept any money for this service, claiming that he felt he didn't actually fix anything. Well, the washer wasn't working properly when he arrived, and it worked properly when he left. That certainly constitutes fixing in our minds. Because of this excellent work ethic, he's the man we'll call the next time we need a repair service!

He gave me honest and sound advice and was willing to come out the same day. We opted to purchase a replacement after hearing his advice, but would readily call them again for our repairs if needed. He was professional, courteous and prompt in communication unlike two other vendors I called.

+ -1 moreWhen contacted originally, they sounded confident that they knew what the problem was. I gave them the go-ahead to order the part needed. When it came in, they arrived and did exactly what it was we expected of them, including flushing the lines and replacing the filter (which I already had on hand). I was very pleased with the whole ordeal. The problem with the water dispenser has been addressed completely.
Description of Work: The water dispenser was leaking in our refrigerator door. Olsen ordered and replaced faulty/leaking water valve.

+ -1 moreI would not hesitate to use Olson Appliance again, and I feel very confident in recommending him to anyone needing their refrigerator repaired. My refrigerator is about 15 years old, so I was thinking I was going to have a large expense purchasing a new one. I was very happy I was able to get mine repaired.
Description of Work: Mr Olson had previously unclogged the drain on my refrigerator, but I was still having a problem with the thermostat. My food was freezing in the refrigerator part. I contacted Mr Olson on a Saturday. The office was closed, but he called me promptly on Monday and ordered the part. He installed it the day it came in. He was very prompt, professional, quick, efficient and courteous. He did not charge me a repeat service call, which I appreciated, just the cost of the thermostat.

+ -1 moreWe couldn't be more delighted with the service and the professional manner as well as the courtesy given us by Olson's Appliance repair. We called them just as they were preparing to leave on their calls for the day and Mr. Olson quickly said he'd adjust his schedule in order to get to us the same day. Ken, the technician was very knowledgeable and he soon had the problem diagnosed and was able to repair it, having the necessary replacement part on his truck. We would recommend Olson's Appliance repair for it's honesty, professionalism and reasonable pricing.
Description of Work: We woke on the 25th of March to find our 14 year old Whirlpool refrigerator not running and several pounds of frozen items had started to defrost. We had to move all these items to our neighbors freezer. We called Olson's because we saw the reviews on Angie's list and were impressed with the ratings of this company. They had almost all excellent ratings. At first we wondered how so many people could rate them excellent in every category. Mr. Olson said they were just preparing to go out on their calls for the day but he said he'd adjust things and get to our house by 3PM the same day. At 2 PM his technician, Ken called and said he was on the way to our house. He arrived promptly and was very courteous. We liked him right away. He proceeded to move the refrigerator out from the wall and open the back then tested the compressor. He noted it was OK and then found the relay for starting the compressor had failed. He then went to his truck where he had the replacement relay and had the fridge working within a half hour. Before closing the back up he vacuumed the coils and behind the fridge . He was very knowledgeable and very professional. We're very pleased with the honesty and professional work of Olson's Appliance repair and would recommend them any time. We're so happy we found this company and it's reviews on Angie's List. After hearing stories of repair jobs like ours costing from 200.00 to 250.00, we were delighted with Olson's charge of 138.00.
