Description of Work: I purchased the $799 deal from Mr. Andrews based on the address the work needed to be performed. After two weeks of waiting to hear from Mr. Andrews and many messages he called to tell me the address was too far for him to travel. I do understand this point but why did his deal come up based on the address if he did not work in that area. Was the problem on him or Angies List? That being said, if he had only called me when he got the notification of the work address I could have looked for someone else to do the work. Instead, I had $799 tied up for weeks and the time that was lost in limbo could have been spent working with someone who intended to do work in that area.

Description of Work: Mark Andrews Construction was unable to provide the services requested. Failure of Mark Andrews Construction to provide direct notification of this inability to perform the tasks requested was inexcusable. I was promised a refund from Angie's List executives to compensate for lost contract cost and fees. Illness has prevented me from collecting this refund. I will do so soonest and instead of carpentry, I will request a local cleaning service that does outside window cleaning (heavy window cleaning). Thank you for caring!

Description of Work: The owner stated that the travel time to me would come out of the deal package hours (he was almost an hour away), so my 2 hour package was only going to pay for his travel time to and from me. I didn't hire him. Don't agree to packages you are not going to honor. Very unprofessional.

Description of Work: Upon completion of the job, there was a leak detected where work had been done. When I asked him to fix the leak, he said he wasn't sure what caused the leak and then wanted to charge me $650 per day to even begin to open up the area. The area that leaked was where a pipe had been replaced during the project and it should've been part of the job.

Description of Work: We bought a new gas stove from Sears along with a vent hood. Previously we had electric, so we needed to have a duct run through the ceiling, attic and roof for ventilation. Mark and his people arrived promptly at 9 am and proceeded to gently remove the small cabinet above the stove. Then they took out a piece of drywall and spent the day running duct work up between the walls, into the attic and through the roof. It took them a day and a half to install the duct and vent hood, patch up the wall and do everything that needed to be done with the ceiling and attic. We were very pleased with the speed and workmanship. They even painted after they patched up the hole in the wall and cleaned up after themselves. I highly recommend Mark and his crew.

THE TEAM WAS PERFORMING ANOTHER JOB IN THE NEIGHBORHOOD AND INITIALLY SPENT A SEVERAL HOURS ON MY HOUSE THE FIRST COUPLE DAYS (WHICH I HAD PREVIOUSLY AGREED} AND THEN SPENT THE NEXT FOUR DAYS COMPLETING MY JOB... THEY KNEW WHAT THEY WERE DOING AND AM VERY SATISFIED.. THE FINAL BILL WAS WITHIN $100 OF THE ESTIMATE YET THE WORK WAS MORE EXTENSIVE THAN ORIGINALLY PLOANNED...

+ 2 moreI first contacted Mark Andrews in early July, 2010 to get an estimate to mortise and hang six interior doors. I was immediately impressed by the fact that he was willing to travel about 50 miles (Palm Bay to Port St John) to do a very small ($250) job. Into the bargain, he volunteered to swing by Lowe's on the way up to pick up the doors, which would have been a real pain in the butt to have to do myself. Mark did a great job of prepping and hanging my doors, even pouring a small concrete curb on the outside of one door (leading from the house into the garage). I was so happy with his work that I asked Mark to give me an estimate to paint the exterior of my house. He made me an offer I couldn't refuse - $700 plus materials. I had already received several estimates on the paint job, the lowest of which was $1,200 plus materials. Note that Mark's price was eventually elevated to $900 + materials when I decided I wanted to have my soffits painted too (they weren't included in the original bid.) However, I got that money back because Mark "paid" me $200 to be his helper on the paint job. In the final analysis, it cost me about $2100 plus three days of my own effort to replace virtually all of my interior doors and make the exterior of my house look new again. In terms of his technical know-how and skills as a tradesman, Mark Andrews is extremely capable and very versatile (after all, he's a licensed GC). But there are several important intangibles you also get when you hire this guy: (1) he's extremely hard-working (he had me praying for rain just so I could take a break); (2) he's punctual (he'll be ringing your doorbell around oh-dark-thirty); (3) he's very conscientious about his work; and (4) he's a helluva nice guy. My recommendation: whatever you need done around the house, hire this guy if you can get him.
Description of Work: I hired Mark Andrews to cut mortises in six interior hollow core doors and then hang them. I subsequently hired him again to paint the exterior of my house.
