the install crew was late, sloppy and unprofessional. 1 window was made too short having 2 inch gap at the top, also glass was not cut square on this window. all three sliding doors are defective and require huge force to slide a panel open or close. also various parts and all screens are missing. the company has aknowledged these are all valid issues, however after almost 30days thet haven't said what or when someting will be done about it. they do not communicate or return our calls but they were very responsive when it was time for payment. DO NOT USE UNIVERSAL WINDOW SOLUTIONS, you will be sorry!

Installation went well. We liked the workers and installation has held up. I did not see any drop in our electric bill or outside noise levels as promised. I'm hoping if a hurricane does hit, the products protect us as promised. Beware of future service needs. Have had issues with hardware. The parts are covered, but not the labor after initial warranty is up, which I would expect. What bothers me is that after spending $62,000 with this company and making every payment when requested, they insist on payment when you request service, run your card and make "next available" appointments in a week or two. The first visit to assess our most recent repair need was on 2/6/15. The technician was here for 10 minutes and we were charged $110. We just today, 2/18/15, 12 days later, got a call to make an appointment for the repairs. They again insisted on running our card. This time for half up front and the other half upon completion for a total of $150. I guess they think we will skip town on them! The soonest they can come do the repairs is March 9th, over a month after out first prepaid visit. They were sure nice enough when we were signing up for their services and doling out large sums of cash. I have never had to prepay for any repair job - plumbers, pools, electricians etc., and these are people I did good business with. I find it insulting and shameful.

IT WENT VERY WELL. FIRST THEY CAME OUT AND TOOK MEASUREMENTS THEN THE WINDOW AND INSERT WAS ORDERED. MANUFACTURER TOOK 4 WEEKS TO PRODUCE. WHEN IT WAS READY THEY ARRANGED FOR AN INSTALL DATE. ON DAY OF INSTALL 4 GUYS SHOWED UP, EACH WITH THEIR OWN RESPONSIBILITY THEY WERE IN AND OUT IN 90 MINUTES. CLEANED EVERYTHING UP AND ARRANGED FOR COUNTY INSPECTOR TO COME THE NEXT DAY.

I ordered hurricane screens for a total of approximately 10 windows and doors. I paid a deposit to Universal and did not hear back from them. After several months I had to contact them. I found out that the screens had come in the wrong size and that Universal was involved with a dispute with their vendor over who was responsible. However, they never bothered to contact me. It seemed as if their dispute had become my problem. I don't know if they had any intentions of contacting me or returning my deposit if I didn't contact them. At this point they did offer to return my deposit and be done with it. I would have had to have someone else come out and re-measure and go through the whole sales proposal process again. Because this is a vacation home I didn't have the time and resources to find another company to do the work. So I decided to have Universal complete what they started. I got the impression that they would have preferred that I choose another company to do the work rather than making up for their mistake. After they completed the work they sent me pictures of the installed hurricane screens. To my dismay they had ordered the wrong color screens. Rather than go through another round of waiting for the correct screens I accepted a 20% refund for the job which brought the price down to the amount I have shown above.

I spent a lot of time with them but we did not use them. They were out here several times and we went to their shop. The price keep changing and I understand how that can happen but when we finished with the overall experience, we were frustrated because I don't think they do a lot of replacements. I think they primarily do new construction where they're going to put windows in while something is being built and so they are working with the builder. They don't have to mess with people like us who are looking to upgrade. They said that they would have to install the windows with a crane in the front. It was trying to have them again to listen to us on what we wanted and needed and to help us not dictate to us. They know their products and they are professional-looking but we weren't a high priority to them.

I don’t remember how much I spent on the service but their service directly was not a lot of money. They just did the garage door opener installation. They got the opener themselves and did the installation. They saved me a lot of money by finding this contractor for me. So I would recommend them. They did an excellent job. They were prompt and they had high expertise. They were looking for the best solution in terms of my needs and my budget. I love them. I will use their services again in the future.

In the end, I decided to purchase doors from a manufacturer that Universal did not carry. However, I would not hesitate to recommend that you include Universal when considering new or replacement doors and windows.

Quoting was timely, pricing was fair, company has (25) years experience in window, door and storm protection business and it showed. They have (2) showrooms that were well stocked with finished displays in wall sections that made the selection process easy. The sales and construction team were most helpful. Work was perfomed on time and very professtional performed. The owners of the company were personally involved through the process. Like any construction project, their were some minor challanges but the company was very responsive and addressed my needs very quickly. Universal was not the least expensive option, nor the most expensive, but offered the best value for the dollar. We were thrilled with the end result and finished product. I strongly recomend this company and will use them again for any future projects.
