Overall it went very badly from start to finish, until Breathe Easy Mold Remediation solved the problem Shewski could not solve. For six years we experienced stress, frustration and embarrassment from our roof/ceiling problem. We were unable to entertain guests at our dining room table, or in our living room because pieces were falling off the ceiling. We have a detailed several-page timeline of all the events over these six years, along with book of dated photos, and a collection of many letters and emails. We will gladly share this information on request: dentonmorrison@comcast.net
Description of Work: In August, 2002, Shewski Roofing, Inc., Sarasota, FL, installed a new roof (new shingles) on our condo at 4695 Chandlers Forde, Sarasota, FL 34235. In April, 2003, we discovered a dark mold spot on our ceiling. This spot and others continued to grow, and pieces of our popcorn ceiling fell onto our floor and furniture. Immediately when the mold spot occured we called Shewski, who sent crews to find and fix the leak. This leak in the roof, our ceiling falling, and Shewski crews trying on many occasions unsuccessfully to find and fix the roof leak went on for six years. For six years Shewski was unable to find and fix the leak. Finally, in October 2009,despairing that Shewski would solve the problem, we hired Breathe Easy Mold Remediation to find the leak, fix it, and repair our destroyed dining room and living room ceilings, and get rid of the mold. They did an excellent job, which took almost three weeks, and cost us $8,400. We took Shewski to court to try to recover our cost, but the judge ruled that Shewski's contract was with our Condo Association Board of Directors, and not with us, the condo owners. The judge ruled we had no legal standing in court, and our case was dismissed. Our Condo Board was negligent in not enforcing the terms of its contract with Shewski to install a perfectly functioning roof on our condo. It was only at our persistent insistence that the Board, late in the game, helped at all in solving our problem. The Board declined our plea to file a liability claim for our our expense with the Condo Association's insurer. The Board is liable for their negligence in not pursuing Shewski to solve our roof/ceiling problem.
