At first, Ron started out with a bang. Smart and anxious to come up with a beautiful solution for my home. He worked fairly quickly in the beginning and completed about 50% of the project. Then things started to go down hill. I would have to call two or three times, emailing completion lists. He or his partner would come in and work a couple of hours- for example- hang a fan or do a couple of switches and then leave the job incomplete. Each time presenting a hefty bill that had to be paid right then even though he did not complete the list. His piece meal approach was adding 50 to 75% onto the cost of the project. He would then disappear for a couple of weeks. He had no capital for his business and was asking for all product to paid upfront. Later in the project he became moody and complained every time he came into the house. Four months into the project- I was still not ready for inspection. He kept making excuses for not being able to finish and would have to come back. Product that was not ordered from him magically always had broken glass or some other issue. After his last call where he installed one fan and it did not work and he still did not finish the Lutron programming- I had to say enough. It was time to stop the bleeding of the checkbook and hire some one else to come in and finish the job. They finished in 2 days and were gentlemen in my home and I will be writing a wonderful review for them.. I just don't understand why people have to take advantage and just can't complete their jobs at a fair price. Ron may be a decent electrician and perhaps he just stretched himself too thin and possibly could not handle the job in the end...not sure but something was not right.
Description of Work: Supplied new Lutron lighting for the kitchen and guest bedroom.

Owners who have not moved in yet contacted Highlight Electric, Ron Messenger, from here on named the electrician, on December 13, 2012 with the rest of the list of unfinished and broken items. Owners contacted the electrician numerous times per email and by phone to finish the list and to replace the wireless switch in the laundry room. We emailed on January 13, 21, 30 and February 6. The electrician came back on Friday February 8, 2013 to finish the list of items includingreplacing the wireless switch for the laundry room. Owners paid for the repaired items but the electrician did not have a new wireless switch with him and promised us that this was not a problem because the switch was still under warranty and that he would switch it out as soon as possible. Owners emailed electrician requesting to switch out the wireless switch for a new one on April 7, 2013 and again on May 8, 2013. Electrician answered on the same day that he was "Sorry for the delay. I will get on it." This was his last response. Owners emailed again on June 9, July 15, and emailed the last letter on August 3, 2013 in which we let him know that we were given him one week to replace the under warranty faulty switch with a new switch or we would report him to Angie's List. We have not heard from him. In short the under warranty remote wireless switch was installed on October 18, 2012 and has not been replaced by the electrician up to this date August 22, 2013, after numerous emails and calls. We do not feel that other customers should have to go through this kind of treatment and pay for a $160.00 switch which does not work. We will be happy to provide you with all the emails to substantiate our claim. Tom and Louisa Averit
Description of Work: October 10, 2012, Highlight Electric Ron Messenger finished up some electrical work for our new residence. Highlight Electric also installed 1 lutron wireless maestro switch and 1 lutron wireless pico control for the laundry room to make the existing switch, which is placed behind the entry door, functional for the owners. The switch was under warranty.
