DAVE'S AUTO REPAIR

I am a Master Diagnostics Tech. 35 yrs in the business. I helped write the Snapon Shop Key Program used by millions of shops. I took a job at Daves Auto and after about 6 hours i was ready to quit. Let me tell you why. This long time business was bought by a lawyer that lets his wife run it. They have 1 technician that is a B rated tech who throws wrenches around all day cussing the cars. He has DUI's that keep him from having a drivers license and spends most time on youtube trying to figure out cars. The second tech never worked on a car in his life until 2 years ago. They let him put a motor in a Cadillac and it never ran for 3 weeks after that until i looked at it and got it running in 45 secs. The worse install on Earth. Engine was used junk they bought cheap to make a buck that was worse then what they took out. They charged the customer thousands for this. The lawyer owners are LIberal Democrats in a bright red county and told me they were shocked that i was a Republican because "Republican are stupid and uneducated ...everybody knows that..." I advised him that i hold a 157 IQ MENSA Cert and my girlfriend is a Cardiologist with 2 Doctorates and a PH.D in Molecular Biology. Stay away from this dumpster fire. I have never seen ANYTHING like it in 35 years. THey had a Car that sat there for 3 weeks they couldnt figure out. The coolant sensor was shorted out making it too rich to run. Took me 25 seconds to find it. Good luck to anybody going here. They also ripped me off for 600.00 from my pay as well. Im sure they will figure out some BS to try to Discredit this review. Lets see the reply. Remember also. This was one of the best shops in Sarasota with awesome reviews until the owner sold this shop to the lawyer. Knows ZERO about cars. Labor rates are through the roof with 200-300% mark up on parts. Any reviews before 2022 is not for the new people

Stopped by to see shop & set up an appointment for squeaky belts when starting in the morning. They were not too busy, so they took a look under the hood-no charge. Thought belt tension needed adjustment & did it while I waited. Hopefully this will do the trick. Will know tomorrow morning, but will go back for regular service. Pleasant & reasonable.

In this mom and pop business they make their reputation by their professionalism, promptness, and by explaining all the details involved in the job they were doing for me. I also asked him to take care of something else that needed attention. The job took about an hour. I am extremely pleased with the results. Dave does the repairs and his wife, Karen, is out front. The office is clean and comfortable and very homey with a good selection of reading materials. One of the advantages of Angies List is that I found a place that I know I can trust to do my auto repairs, and I will definitely return to Dave's in the future (not too soon).

It worked out very well and I really like them very much. They've done a few of our cars. They are honest and tell me things that I can wait on or that aren't really that important to fix at the time. It is very honest of them not to try to talk me into a bunch of services that I don't need. They do a very good job on the things that they do recommend. They offer to drive me if I need a ride. They are not the cheapest people in town but they do a very good job. They are very quick. I will absolutely use them again.
