The owner and his son came out right away and quoted the job...replacing our old HVAC system...on the spot. The work was done on time for the price as quoted. The only gripe I had was they didnt clean up after themselves. I mentioned this to the owner when he called to follow up and he offered to send someone over. Too late but a very minor hiccup considering the potential for bad things to happen. We were very happy.

This company is always prompt to respond, efficient, and sensibly priced. Their service agents are competent and friendly. We have been happy with their work for eleven years.

Were on time and work was done in a timely manner. Even though their price was slighly higher than 2 other companies, I chose them because they listened to what I wanted and not what they wanted to sell unlike the other 2 firms

I contacted D & W after another air conditioning company quoted me $3800 to correct a leak. They wanted to actually relocate a condensing unit from one side of the house to the other. I had a suspicion they were not being honest based on other past work. When I contact D & W the field supervisor that came out quickly identified the source of the leak, explained it in great detail, proved the other air conditioning company was being dishonest, immediately corrected the leak, and followed up 3 times in the following weeks to make certain the unit was working properly. D & W was professional, honest, punctual, efficient, and saved us $2800. I would recommend D & W to anyone and just recently asked them to send me D & W stickers for each air conditioning unit I have for future service. Going forward I will be a loyal D & W client.

Everything went well, the guys were all great and polite. Showed up right on time and were done in about 4 hours. That included removing the old unit, replacing the concrete slab it was sitting on with a new one, installing the new unit and inspecting the duct work in the attic. Pretty impressive really. Ted was the main guy I talked with from the beginning and he was very helpful. Not only about the A/C. My mother was put into an assisted living facilty and it is up to me to fix up her house so it can be sold and I had SO many questions about a lot of different repairs. So I figured while I had a man in the house I would ask him. Poor Ted. I asked him about the kitchen sink, the bathtub, how to measure for a new bathroom sink, ceiling plaster ETC. Even though it was well past lunch time he stuck around and helped me a lot. My only b**** is that when it came time to pay I was told that they would charge me an extra 3% for using a credit card, which brought the thrill of getting a 5% discount down to 2%. So that sucked.

Our air conditioning system had been having issues for a few years and we kept putting it off. Of course, it died on one of the hottest days in August just before 7pm. They were very responsive and came out try and fix the issue. Due to the age and condition of the unit it made more sense to get the new system we had been putting off. Knowing we had no air they rescheduled other customers in order to get our system in as soon as possible. They also reanalyzed the duct capacity in our attic and found that our old ductwork was limiting our old system and would seriously harm the effectiveness, efficiency and life expectancy of the new unit. In extremely hot conditions they spent all day redoing the attic ductwork and sent in extra help in the afternoon to make sure they could get the job done the same day so we could get our air back. They also did their best to keep the costs down by replacing the ductwork that needed the most help. I could have found someone to put a cut rate system in the house to replace what I had, which is what the previous owners did years ago. Instead I got a quality system and more importantly they took the time to make sure it would function optimally by looking at the whole system rather than trying to be the cheapest solution. The system has been functioning properly for over a month now and passed our city inspection with no issues. I will continue to use them for future work and would recommend them to others looking to replace their air conditioning.

The work was performed on a short-sale house that had had the AC unit dismantled (blower motor and cage removed/damaged) and all coolant was gone. I had had several estimates of repairing the existing (11year-old) system as well as the installation of a completely new system. The cost of repairing the system plus the non-negligible possibility of further damage that could only be detected upon startup convinced us that a new system was the wiser choice. The house was originally built in the late 50's, had been updated over the years, although the ductwork was original. Of the three proposals obtained for the work, one was quite expensive and called for completely new ducts throughout the house so a maximally efficient high-SEER unit could be installed. Randy from D&W went through the choices with me and we concluded that a lower (13) SEER could minimize or totally eliminate the negative effects of the existing ductwork. The installers were punctual and installed the new unit efficiently, even taking time to answer the many questions I had on the system design and performance. The "B" I am giving D&W on responsiveness is due only to the fact that I was never offered an extended warranty on the labor, that I note others had obtained, even though I commented on the remarkably short (1 year) labor guarantee. The A overall and for all other rating categories were easily earned by the D&W crew that I would gladly hire again if the need should arise.

I had a compressor problem and on a seven or eight-year-old unit. We decided not to invest in the old one, and put in a new one instead. I got a few estimates. I was pleasantly surprised when Randy came out. He was extremely nice and very knowledgeable. He explained how he needed to get a piece up in the attic on the second floor and make it vertical. So after I made my decision, I had had so much work done in the house this summer, so I asked if he could do it as soon as possible. He sent four guys over in two days. The guys were very nice, efficient, and clean. I felt like I was back in New Jersey with quality service and quality help. The price is very reasonable and it is a family business. They were great from start to finish. Good luck!

UPDATE: The owner called my husband because of his concern for customer service after the initial Angie's List review. D & W refunded the majority of the service charge, and the owner was clearly very concerned with customer relations. He was very professional and apologized for the miscommunication. We recently purchased a home in the Venetian Golf and River club that we're currently renting back to the original owner. We live out of state. Our renter (the previous owner) had D & W out back in June when the A/C wasn't cooling, at which time they added freon. On Friday August 3rd we got a call from our renter (the past owner) who said that the system had once again stopped cooling. At which point my husband called D & W since they had already been out to the house approximately 6 weeks prior. However, we didn't get any credit or special rate even though they'd been out recently for the exact same issue! The technician he spoke with (Ted) seemed knowledgeable, but continuously interrupted my husband, and would not let my husband get in his questions! My husband is a patient person, but was very frustrated when trying to communicate with Ted!! We did have Ted do an emergency repair (added more freon), and he also proceeded to add a diagnostic dye WITHOUT our authorization for an additional fee of $150! After the visit when Ted talked to my husband, he told us that the leak was probably in the copper coil and we could either repair the coil for ~$2K, or the most cost effective way to go was to replace the A/C unit with a new heat pump (for $5.4 K). After much research on our end, we decided to get quotes from a couple more companies. Both of the other companies were confused as to why we were thinking we needed a new system since the current one is only ~7 years old. One of those companies did an on-the-spot diagnosis and found a leak in one of the hoses, which he estimated about $360 to repair (MUCH different than the $5400 quoted by D & W)!

After recently purchasing a new home, our air conditioning went out. We had several companies come out. We initially attempted to fix several leaks, however we finally decided to install a new unit. We chose D & W because they seemed knowledgeable, experienced, and honest. They walked through all our options with us and we came up with what worked best for our house. Luckily for us we happened to be going out of town for a vacation and they were able to install our new air conditioner by the time we came home. It was fantastic to come home to a nice cool house. I would definitely recommend them to anyone.

The installation went extremely well. The installers arrived on time for the installation of BOTH units (which were scheduled approximately three weeks apart). The installers were very professional, polite and most of all NEAT. They took the time to answer questions that I had during the installations. The owner stopped by during each installation to make sure the job was going well and he too answered my questions. Originally they thought that because of space limitations, they would have to 'cut' into a closet adjacent to the heat pump to make room for a larger return duct. Both my wife and I were not at all happy about the prospect this, but we were resigned to the prospect of this happening. However, the owner who was clearly aware of our discomfort with this, came back prior to the installation to take one more look in the attic and the 'space' for the air handler. During his inspection, he discovered that he could install the larger duct without 'cutting' into the adjacent closet. Needless to say, we were extremely pleased with this. Now the installation is complete and we are adjusting to these two new systems. We have discovered that some 'adjustments' may need to be done and possibly an addition of another 'supply' vent (we were aware that this might be necessary prior to the installation). The owner assured us that should this become necessary, they would most certainly do this work. In conclusion had it not been the result of my referring to Angie's List, I would NEVER have found this company. So far, we are completely satisfied with the work done and based on our experience so far, we have every reason to believe that our relationship with D & W will continue to be a good one in the future.

After getting three estimates, Randy provided the best Trane system for the best price (actually a higher SEER than the other two companies offered). He answered all my questions and we set up a time for the installation. I also was given a discount by being an Angie's List member. I also signed up for the 10 year warranty on labor so the equipment and labor will be taken care of for that length of time. Everything went smoothly. Everyone I dealt with from D&W was very professional and courteous. They all really seem to know their jobs and were able to answer any question I had along the way. I would definitely recommend them as I was very pleased with the whole process.

The experience was positive from start to finish. The initial evaluation confirmed a broken evaporator and loss of freon. Made no sense to attempt repair, though I was never pushed in a particular direction. D&W consulted on various options including pure A/C vs. heat pumps, and several calls to the office were handled expeditiously and with knowledgable staff. I had done a lot of research and compared three different quotes from three vendors. In the end, D&W had the best product at a reasonable price. Additionally, an important factor in the selection was whether the installer had the ability to not only install professionally but also to be there to service the system after the sale. So many A/C companies these days either don't have a customer first approach or aren't around long enough to matter. This is where the Angie's list reviews really helped. I had read that the owner personally visited a customer to check on an install. Then I experienced an interaction during the pre-sales process where the receptionist recognized that the call needed general manager's attention (owner's son). I felt confident that this was a well run family business with a customer service focus. The installation went smoothly. Two installers did the job in a day. The biggest challenge was fitting the air handler through the attic door opening in the garage ceiling. While the pre installation checks were meticulous enough to measure all openings and install locations and even assess the wiring and electrical panel, they did have encounter the delicate task of navigating around a station in the truss adjacent to the attack door opening. This is not usually an issue since the air handler comes in pieces and can be assembled in the attic, but the largest piece wouldn't fit without some minor manipulation of the truss. And sure enough, after the unit was in operation for three weeks we received a call to set up an appointment for a 30 day quality control check, and it was the owner himself who visited us to perform the check and make sure we were happy. The thermostat is much better than my previous one, and my wife likes the house cool. But despite keeping the house a little cooler, after almost three months, we've noticed that our electric bill is down significantly. I'm hopeful that the aluminum parts in the Trane will last longer than e copper in the old Rheem. The warranty is better and D&W's handover packet included a pre-completed warranty registration. So far, so good. Thumbs up. Would recommend D&W.

The woman who answered the phone was cordial, pleasant, and easy to understand. She told me she could have a technician out in 30 minutes. Tim, the Certified Technician that was sent out, was 15 minutes early! Our home has tricky attic access with no lighting, but he took it all in stride. We were worried that we might have to replace the motor, but it turned out that all it needed was a new capacitor. Mentioned what replacement cost would be, should we ever decide to upgrade, but didn't feel like a hard sell at all. Tim also mentioned several things we could do to help keep up with the unit maintenance. We are extremely pleased, and will definitely use them again should the need arise!

It went great. Randy really knows what he is talking about about. We got solid equipment properly installed at a great price. Every one from this company was professional prompt knowlegeable and courtious. They cleaned up perfectly after they were done. A couple of days later I received written warranties in the mail. Also they took care of rebates with FPL and deducted the expected amount from my bill. I would highly recommend their service to anyone looking for a reputable and professional a/c installation.

My experience went far better than I would have hoped. They put in an older system to keep me cool until my new system came in. That was WAY above and beyond. The employees were very courteous, clean, neat and professional. They did whatever I asked them to do.

After an initial problem with a tech, the owner bent over backwards to try to correct the situation and make things right. He said the tech misspoke on his companies policy about the type of work that I wanted done and he has been corrected. The mark of a good company isn't how they do when things go right, but how they do when things go wrong. I'm convinced the owner is a hard working conscientious individual who will make things right if they aren't perfect. As a result, I have changed my rating.

I had 3 different employees from the company working at my house. All were polite and hard working. After the work was done the owner personally came to my house to make sure everything was done properly and to my expectations. I will be using them again in the future when I need more work done.

All went well and I will be using them again in the future.

D & W is an amazing family operation. First emergency call to Venice FL was in 2006 for a flooded unit in attic with lots of wet insulation and ductwork. They came, cleaned up, installed a new ground-level heat pump and air returns in the garage, including duct work and custom allergy unit. Price was excellent. Teamwork was obvious. And they reminded me about federal rebate for installing EnergyStar unit. During a second emergency in July 2011 with Alzheimer's father in residence and the A/C out at midnight, I called and got a live person - the same person who came at dawn Sunday morning to do the repair. It was an unusual problem, but he had the parts. On the spot, he gave me the service contract discounts in exchange for my (finally) buying it. On a third visit in August 2011, both father and son came to figure out a continuing problem with an expensive allergy unit. After one call by the owner/father, I had a free replacement part+warranty period and no charge for their labor even though they saw additional things that needed to be done and did them. Last, several times over the years, I have called with questions and always gotten answers - including e-mails of parts of manuals with information highlighted.

My A/C unit completely died on Sunday. After getting several estimates, I chose D&W. They had me up and running by Saturday. They were prompt , professional and had the best price.Can't ask for more than that. I recommend them highly.

Had Major A/C failure. They responded quickly and after I accepted the bid, they replaced the entire unit , ducts, put in 3 new returns, replumbed the coolant lines, and redid the plenum. It took only 2 days. Price was reasonable considering the amount of work they had to do. I would certainly reccomend them to my friends and hire them again in the future.
