Buyer beware this company took advantage of my parents who are both in there senior. My dad bought a unit for the house and also bought a 2 year warranty they had a problem within the first year they came out said it needed a part which it did not then made him pay $1100.00 dollars to pull some insulation out of it. He attempted to dispute the charges and they illegally charged his credit card. These companies see older couples and steal there money. Btw they left them without air for almost 2 weeks causing my mom to dehydrate from sweating. They will be disputing the charges, I just don't want any other couples taken advantage of by these lowlifes....
Description of Work: Purchased a new air conditioner unit, plus warranty. Less then a year later broke down. Then they ripped my parents off $1100.00 dollars to mis diagnose a problem and illegally run there credit card.

Worst experience I have had. No AC called never fixed, used used parts and charged me for new, installed freon that I didn't need. I had originally had this system installed by them, after 6 years it was toast. After repeatedly haveing them come and not fixing. Enough! They gouge people by over charging, not honest, take advantage of older people. Stay away
Description of Work: Had no AC, left me with NO AC for 9 days, never called me back to fix. When I called them they never gave any reason. I didn't trust them, they left me With the experience I had been taken advantage of

Sounds like you had a poor experience which we completely understand and empathize with. We all correctly expect quick and good service. We fell short of your expectations due to unintentional mistakes and are sincerely sorry. It seems like this service went good for a while and then it began going south. You called us April 21, 2023 because your system was not cooling and we had a technician at your home within 75 minutes of that phone call. We provided a diagnosis and you approved our work and $ amount before we started. We insist that our techs obtain customer approval before any repair work is started. That gives customers a chance to review the recommended work and even ask for 2nd opinions if they wish. A fuse and transformer were replaced and refrigerant was added as charge was lower than recommended levels. So far so good and you provided us a very good review immediately after the appointment. On a scale from 1 to 5 you gave us a 5. So all was good for a while. Our techs only use new parts. We installed a new fuse and new transformer on that day. Both of those parts include a warranty and we will replace those free of charge if they fail within the warranty period. It seems where it went south was we told you at the appointment that we needed to return to perform a test to help diagnose why refrigerant levels were low. We unfortunately did not have the proper testing equipment on our truck and that was completely our mistake. To compound that error we failed to call you timely to set up that next appointment. Both were unintentional and honest mistakes. Several days later you reached out to our office but by then you had decided to call someone else, and we completely understand. We have used your feedback to modify procedures in our office so that errors like this do not occur going forward. We thank you for the feedback as it helps us improve. Your extreme disappointment is evident in your tone and is justified. We are sincerely sorry for not providing you the level of service you deserved.

I was offered a low cost promotional inspection of my A/C system, to include filter cleaning and topping up of my freon if necessary and fell for it. The tech that came out was very personable and seemed competent, but insisted that I had mold in my ducts and needed special duct cleaning and the addition of some special uV equipment to keep mold from growing. Before going that route I checked Yelp, and seeing all of the 1 star ratings decided to get an independent mold inspection done. I chose the top rated company on Angie's list. The tech was very knowledgable and advised that I had no mold, but I chose to have an air sample tested anyway. Air was sampled in my living room and in the main duct. The analysis showed a remarkably low mold level of any kind and zero stachibotris, the really bad kind. The Custom Climate tech seems to have been scamming me - I guess as part of his job. Do not fall for any solicitation from this company.

Custom Climate Concepts (CCC) performed maintenance, repair work, and duct cleaning and sanitizing in late April 2018 at a cost of about $3,000 on my HVAC system, a Rheem split system consisting of an air handling unit and a condenser/heat pump, 4 tons and SEER rating of 15. The maintenance and repair work amounted to a charge of about $1,000 for parts and labor to pull and clean the blower assembly, to replace the ultraviolet air purifier lamp, to replace the TXV valve, and to renew a one year maintenance service agreement. The technician who performed the work was knowledgeable and highly proficient. The price charged for this work seemed to be reasonable and justified. However, the price of $2,000 charged for the duct cleaning and sanitizing was excessive and unjustified. The ductwork is a system with 12 supply air registers and one return air register that services a one level, 2,000 sq. ft home. The work performed consisted of removing and replacing registers, roto brush machine cleaning of ductwork to the extent possible, re-sealing two ductwork connections, re-masking of air handling unit’s main supply duct; and applying a sanitizing solution to the ductwork system. The ductwork system was in very good condition and did not show signs of mold or dust build up. Subsequent to the duct cleaning and sanitizing, I researched other services in the Sarasota/Bradenton FL area and discovered that on average prices ranged from $400 to $800. How CCC can charged $2,000 and justify the cost of the service to its customers based on what work was performed at my home, in my opinion, is nothing more than a “rip-off” of the consumer. I sent a draft of this review by email to CCC and asked them to reassess whether the price charged for the duct cleaning and sanitizing is in order given my view that the price was excessive and unjustified. After a week passed and no response received, I decided to post this review.

This company is hot or cold. Sometimes very professional and other times...not so much. It depends on who they send. Over the 3 years I used them I had a couple of losers try to take advantage of me, but the other technicians did a very good job and were very professional. When my contract is gone, so am I. Cool Today costs more, but are consistently excellent!

way overcharged, they called saying we had a prepaid free inspection...from the prior owners in 2011, which made no sense, but free sounded good, Travis came, on time, and inspected. He said he found that the capacitor was bad and if it wasnt replaced, it would cost hundreds if it failed. Since we are not AC experts at all, we said go ahead. $250 later it was fixed. After i searched the internet and found that the part was 10 bucks, he spend 5 minutes replacing it and the average cost of that service is around 100 bucks, tops. We felt that we had been taken advantage of and after reading the BBB reviews we knew we had. I called for a partial refund,, the woman on the phone was incredibly rude and hung up the phone...again after reading reviews that seems to be the common practice.. My bad, I knew it sounded weird that we had a free prepaid inspection from a prior owner, but we went ahead anyway..do not use them, there are more reputable and honest AC guys out there..

Provided the PM as promised and the technician noticed I needed two important parts and I agreed to have installed. The technician was excellent but I feel the company overcharged. Chris installed a new float switch and a hard start kit and the cost of both items totaled $481. The float switch costs $32 and the start kit was $ 45 and so I was charged $400 in labor for about 15-30 of actual work. I called the company and I am still waiting to hear from the service manager.

I originally signed up through Angie's List for a inspection/freon recharge deal. The day that I had scheduled for them to come out, they were running behind, and called to reschedule. Coincidentally, the unit quit working that day. When I told the woman on the phone that it had stopped, she was very nice and got a salesman to come out that evening. He told me that the unit was very old, and that it would just be a bandaid to try to repair it. At the time, I was under a great deal of stress from having just bought the house and going through a nasty divorce. Not to mention HOT. (I live in Florida)Chris (salesman) recommended that I replace the unit, and he did not offer any options other than the unit that he wanted me to purchase. Due to the situation, I went with his recommendation and had the Comfortmaker 3 ton installed the next day. Everything went very smoothly and I am not unhappy with the unit or the installation. All were very good. My problem is that I feel after doing some research, is that I grossly overpaid for the unit. When I called to tell him that I felt the unit was too expensive, he said that if I gave the company a good review on Angie's List, he would "do something" for me. I did give the review, but I never heard anything more from them, other than a text message saying he didn't forget about me, that he was sick. To date, I have neither heard from Custom Climate Concepts, nor received anything as promised. Although, he did try to help me get my home warranty to cover it, which they denied. Therefore, I feel that I was taken advantage of in an emergency situation and while under much stress, and was not given an opportunity to do some research on AC prices. I have since seen many deals that convince me I could have paid way less for the unit.

Dear Member, We are happy that you chose Custom Climate Concepts, Inc. & that your technician provided you a full and thorough maintenance service, that you indeed paid $29.95 for. Since you paid that directly to Angie's List, your technician may have misunderstood and thought this was a free visit. As for the recommended repairs, you are gathering estimates. Every customer has the right to shop around when it comes to repairs or replacement, but we don't feel that warrants such a low overall grade, or grade in price. You paid $29.95 and received the full and thorough maintenance you paid for you say so in your review! We look forward to being of service to you again in the future!

A) Custom Climate Concepts Tech came out and made blatantly false statements, trying to upsell, first for $6800 service, then ~$100 service. B) Tech claimed drain was cleared, coil cleaned, refrigerant checked OK, and left. C) Within 24 hours the AC was completely non-functioning. D) Coil was observed thickly iced and drain was completely blocked. E) Fixed drain with hacksaw and new PVC pipe, defrosted coil. F) Coil repeatedly refreezes; homeowner runs through checklist; determines system low on refrigerant. G) Different Custom Climate Concepts comes out and states the system has a refrigerant leak, before checking system pressures or using leak detector. H) Tech opens system and uses leak detector to illustrate leak; adds refrigerant (free of charge); closes up and says the office will call on Monday "to see what you want to do". I) I turn off my phone. The technician arrived and spent some time with the unit. Upon completion he informed me that the system was working fine. It was working fine but needed to be replaced because of mold and rust in the drain pan. OK, I guess cleaning the drain pan isn't part of the service. Oh, I also needed a completely new set of ducts, because the ones I have aren't big enough. I've taken enough advanced fluid dynamics courses to know that's complete HORSE-S***. When I didn't bite on the $6800 "upgrade" he made one final try by telling me that the start capacitor on the compressor motor was too small and I should let him upgrade it. That was such HORSE-S*** that I turned him down before he even quoted a price. I have a masters in computer hardware design from the early '80's, when discrete components were still in use and I fully understand what the start capacitor does; and NO it is not "damaging the motor". The tech reported that he had "cleaned the coil" and "unblocked the drain hole" and had checked the refrigerant, but didn't add any, since the "system pressures showed it was full" as I was ushering him out as fast as possible. He gave me a sheet recommending $6800 worth of work, including replacing the existing ducting. This was on Thursday, 8/20, about 11am. By Friday afternoon the A/C evaporator coil was a solid block of ice, rendering the unit completely unable to cool. My wife called Custom Climate Concepts demanding that they send someone out immediately, since their tech had obviously done something to break our AC system. I interrupted her in mid call and said - not necessarily; it had been an extremely humid day, and the kids had been in and out and left the doors open alot. I concluded with "Wasn't I clear earlier - they are complete bandits and you don't want anybody like that back working on your AC." There was no way I wanted them back in after listening to the "tech" (read "sales-generator") who was there on 8/20. So by Sunday it was clear, after several cycles of thawing frozen coils and running through the "10 most likely causes of a frozen coil" list (PLEASE NOTE that the "cleared drain plug" was completely stopped up, causing the water to flood out of the system the first time I thawed the coil), it was obvious that the problem was lack of sufficient refrigerant. So I let my wife call Custom Climate Concepts, since we were entitled to up to a pound of refrigerant with the "coupon". Getting anyone out was another two pages, so I'll skip past that to the tech that came out and knew we had a leak, after talking to the first tech, but before he inspected the system. Hmmm... very strange.

The technician reviewed all the work he did today and showed me that the filters were very dirty and how important it is to check on my own, at least every 3 months, so that the coils are not damaged on the air handler. I can certainly say the Custom Climate hires experienced technicians as he was able to explain to me the importance of having a Power Surge Protector on our air conditioner unit. Chris Channey, the company technician, was very courteous, professional and informative. He actually took pictures of parts of the unit I could not readily see, to give me a view and better understanding of what is going on with the unit. Although I did not purchase an annual service contract at this time, I certainly do intend to call these people for future service and purchase a long term agreement within the coming months. If things continue as original, I'm certain they will have the first opportunity to quote on a replacement unit when that time arises. Joe Zito Venetian Golf & River Club North Venice, FL

They called us and said they were in the area if we wanted them to come take care of our air conditioner. It went out a couple of days ago and I called them back out. We had bought the maintenance plan from them. He said it was going to cost $1500 for a new motor. Then he said $475. I said it was a $1000 difference, I didn't believe him at that point. I went on the Better Business Bureau and they have a warning out about them. I told them that they had been charging me two much for the parts and that conversation did not go well. I called a different company and they came out and fixed the air conditioner on the spot. He told me it wasn't the motor, it was the circuit board that was controlling the motor. The new circuit board cost me $275. I called them to find out what was going on and the lady was not nice. She did credit me the service contract. She would not credit me for the parts and she laughed at me. It was obvious that they were trying to sell me a new air conditioner, which I didn't want. I wanted them to fix the one that I had. He told me I was nuts for wanting to fix it.
Description of Work: Custom Climate Concepts Incorporated did a 64 point inspection. He installed a couple of capacitors, connector. He sold us a maintenance contract. They did preventative maintenance.

Dear Member, Thank you for the opportunity to have been of service. In reviewing your comments and ratings, we're happy you indicated you were very pleased with the 34 point maintenance that you initially received, and were thrilled to see your original A review, but since we were at your home twice, it only seems fair that the original grades you gave us for that maintenance should not have been changed. You WERE satisfied with the maintenance! You have every right to share your experience, but each should have been shared separately and graded separately. However, since that is not how the situation was handled, we would like a chance to exceed your expectations, and raise our grades in the process. We apologize for what was clearly a breakdown in communication between you and your technician regarding the recommended replacement parts and the differences in the pricing. We always strive to provide the same high level of service to each and every customer. We will use your experience as a lesson in customer service and satisfaction. We typically send out our service technician when a unit fails, but since you had just had a maintenance we sent your same maintenance technician back, under the assumption that the breakdown was maintenance related. We would love nothing more than an opportunity to prove to you that we are far better than this one instance. As for the BBB, the alert is simply an explanation of our pricing, how it confuses some, as it seems to have done in this case, and how it differs from company to company…something that is a well-known fact in this industry. We are a family owned and operated, licensed, bonded, and insured HVAC company with over 20 years of experience. Visiting thousands of homes per year, we have only had 5 customers even file complaints with the BBB within the past year, all of which have been settled. From what I have read, you did not have a problem with our service, but with the price, and how it initially changed, that could have been as simple as quoting you for a part thought NOT to be under warranty, then finding out that it IS under warranty. As for our pricing, most of our costs are LABOR based, we provide skilled labor...like an auto mechanic or a doctor, and that does cost more than unskilled day labor. We also use flat-rate pricing for repairs, which is quickly becoming the national norm. We honestly keep 1 dime of every dollar we charge, we feel that is fair pricing. To make this situation right, we would like to give you, at no cost, a 1 year preventative maintenance agreement, with 1 visit every 6 months to show our appreciation for your business. We have re-addressed this issue with all of our technicians, office staff, and particularly the technician that performed your maintenance and service. Thank you for bringing this to our attention. We look forward to the chance to be of service to you in the future. Please do not hesitate to contact me directly with any further questions or concerns! Our goal here at Custom Climate Concepts, Inc. is 100% customer satisfaction 100% of the time, please give us the opportunity to provide just that! Stephanie L. He showed me the spores living in the ducts and explained the cost to clean those duct would be approximately $1200.00. He explained how all the ducts would have to be removed in order to clean them thoroughly. Chris was very informative on everything he was doing. I am considering their yearly program to insure proper service of my AC system.
Description of Work: He inspected the coils, flushed the drain, added coolant and verified the voltage and the out cooling temperature. He explained each functioned he performed.

Very well. Tech was knowledgeable and personable. I got a discount for having a contract. I've used them several times now.
Description of Work: Came on Saturday, my outside unit was not working. My capacitor went bad. I had to pay even tho it was under a part warranty. My labor warranty had apparently expired two years ago.
