I had old carpet in two rooms, one 250 sq ft and the other 215 sq ft, that I wanted to replace with tile. I contacted Bud several months earlier to inquire about scheduling this job and making sure I ordered enough tile. He came out and measured the rooms and told me the amount of tile to get. Once the tiles arrived, I called him again and he came out and gave me an estimate for removal of the carpet and installation of the tiles. It took about a month for him to find time to do the job, but I wasn't in a hurry. He came on the appointed day with a helper. They would have moved all the furniture, but we decided to do that ourselves and had the rooms cleared for him. The family room tile is 16" dark brown ceramic that I wanted to line up with the existing 16" contrasting tile (white) in the adjacent area. On one end of this area, the tile sweeps in a large curve. Because of a slight difference (1/8" in the tile widths, Bud suggested that we not try to line them up but rather stagger the adjoining grout lines. I also considered putting in a border tile between the two different tiles, but Bud suggested that it would probably look better to just butt them against one another. I went with his suggestions, and in both cases, he was exactly right. For the master bedroom, I chose a 20" dark gray ceramic tile. This room had two walk-in closets that I also wanted tiled. At the doorways to the adjacent rooms, the new tile abutted the existing white 16" tile. Both new tiles were I a marbleized or swirled slate pattern. So there was no need to do any specialized positioning of tiles. I just wanted them squared with the walls. Bud and his helper immediately went to work removing the old carpet and preparing the underlying concrete, which was already level and needed no prep other than cleaning and patching a few settling cracks. Bud patched the cracks with a special tape that was a little more expensive than other options, but would last better. He gave me the cost of the various options and left the decision up to me. After finishing this installation, they laid chalk lines and were ready to install the tile. They moved all tile from the garage to the rooms where it was laid. On the next day, Bud came without his helper, whom he had let go because he was not satisfied with the quality of his work. Bud is a perfectionist with much experience, and wanted to insure that the job was done to his specifications. So he laid all the tiles by himself. This took longer with the 20" tiles because they are not so easy for a single person to manage. After laying the tiles, Bud brought the colors of grout I had selected for each room, applied the grout and did an initial cleanup of excess grout. After it dried, there were still many chalky smears from the grout, and I cleaned those myself. I used vinegar water and a Scotch Brite sponge to scrub up the excess, and finished with a microfiber rag to eliminate streaks. The whole job took Bud almost a week to finish, but it was well worth the time spent. The curved line in the family room and the complicated edges around the baseboard leading into the two walk-in closets were done to perfection, as were the narrow strips of tile needed in the closets along the final edge. We have been very happy over the past year with the beautiful job Bud did Everyone who visits compliments the new look. We appreciated that Bud took the time to do an excellent job, and would highly recommend him - provided you're not in a big hurry. Because Bud is so good, he has a heavy schedule, and it can take a while to get a slot.

Nothing to say here other than Bud did an excellent job and did it quickly.
Description of Work: Bud tiled the floor and walls of our powder room and made a great job of it. He simply came in started work seldom stopped and left the job clean and tidy. I would have no problem getting Bud to do our next two projects but would only deal with Bud himself. (he is a little deaf and you need to speak loudly to him).

Description of Work: Kennedy replaced my Master Bedroom carpet with ceramic tile. His price was very competitive. He showed up exactly on time and took great care in removing furniture. He spent extra care in planning the tile layout for my slightly out of square room. His work was careful and accurate and he paid a lot of attention to keeping the work site neat, clean and contained. I highly recommend this firm for any floor tile work you have.

I am a builder in Milwaukee but have a second home in Sarasota. I found Bud via Angie's List. He was excellent. I shipped the tile from WI to his home and he was kind enough to accept it. He then delivered the tile to my home, which is something he doesn't usually do. He thoroughly reviewed every area of concern; we did tile wainscotting and tile flooring with a stone deco border. He showed me concerns on certain pieces. He was fantastic to work with. I needed to set a vanity so it could be measured for granite the next day and he had a family member come in and set it.I would highly recommend him to everyone. We will be using him again.
Description of Work: He removed the existing tile flooring, removed all the base molding, removed the toilet and pedestal sink, installed tile wainscotting and tile flooring.

See above. Bud Kennedy arrived promptly and was willing to work around my work schedule. He showed up on time, cleaned up after working each day, and was very reasonable for a very professional job. I would definitely hire him again.
Description of Work: I had a leak in my bathroom shower where water came out under the carpet in my bedroom just outside my bathroom. I called a plumber who told me that the wrong shower trap/drain had been installed and I would need a tile professional to redo the shower stall floor. Bud Kennedy gave me an estimate to remove the shower flooring and the bottom row of tile so that the correct shower drain could be installed. He arrived promptly on the agreed day and removed the ceramic tile, without breaking any of it. He returned to redo the floor after the drain was installed. He had to lower the level of the shower floor, tiled the floor and bottom row of the shower stall, and even gave me a marble piece for the top of the shower stoop that he had left over from a previous job. The job was done efficiently and reasonably without any problem. My shower looks great and no more leaks!
