BRICK PAVERS INC

Over a period of several years, now, we have used Brick Paving Systems, Inc. to do over 3000 sq ft of pavers around our house. They are the only paving company I trust for any of my jobs. The company is run by two brothers, Steve and Dave. Steve’s wife, Diane, manages the office. They have been in business since 1981, and are the “pioneer in the brick paving installation industry in the Greater Tampa Bay Area”. On their web page they claim they “are the original interlocking brick paver specialist”. During all those years, they have built a reputation for consistent high quality work. The first job my wife and I hired them to do was our driveway, the front, curving sidewalk leading from the driveway to our front porch, and the back of our yard. After the job was over, people walking by would pay us many compliments for the beauty of the pavers. They still do to this day. We have no problem referring people to Brick Paving Systems, Inc. Our yard speaks for their work. What isn’t immediately seen, however, is the meticulous care that was given to the leveling of the ground. We used to have a very bad water problem in the front yard near the edge of the road towards our front of the house. Dave assessed the situation and brought dirt and carefully leveled our yard in that area in such a way that water became less of a problem. He made sure all the ground took water away from our house and towards our back islands where our plants were situated. From there he had the ground run in a different direction towards the road. This is the skill that you pay for when you contract a company for their work. Laying pavers is just part of the job. It’s the preparation before laying the pavers that is very important. A big part of the job is the leveling of the ground and the material used under the pavers that adds to the quality of the job. We never have puddles in our pavers. The water goes exactly where Dave trained it to go. So when it rains, we have no worries about this type of problem. The company also has a very good quality team of workers. They are quiet, efficient, very polite, respectful of our property and work harmoniously together. It took about seven people to work in our backyard alone for a period of around 3 days. The reason it was difficult was because every load of sand and paver had to be wheelbarrowed into the back since we did not have room for a big truck or forklift. We left the design of the edge of all the plant beds up to Dave and his team. They did not disappoint. The curves in the sidewalk and along the plant beds are lovely and have that flowing natural look exactly they way we wanted it to be. They cut the pavers to match perfectly along the edges. It was a difficult job because of all the curves. But they are artists and finished quite a masterpiece for us. Even the connection to the driveway and the road was very professionally done. Before they finished the driveway, Dave suggested extending the width of the pavers one foot on either side of the garage door. This was a great suggestion because it added space to maneuver the cars and really makes the house look grounded. We had also asked them to place PVC pipes under the ground before doing the pavers so we could have a way to provide future sprinkler needs, and electrical expansions for lights, etc. They accommodated us with no hassle. When we finished our first job with them in 2008, there was a miscommunication about the final bill. Apparently, the paperwork my wife and I had was an older version and showed a lower price. When Steve couldn’t provide us with his copy of the updated paper that he thought we had, he honored our lower price. This is an example of how ethical these people are. They probably lost some money because of the mistake, but they stood by their work and our paper. It’s another reason why we keep going back to use them again and again and refer them to everyone we meet. The second major job they did for us in 2011 was to finish going around the other side of our house and around our new shed area. They gave us the same quality of work and same satisfaction. The third job is coming up within a few weeks for part of our front yard where no grass ever grows because of all the shade. They will finish a small circular area (probably another difficult cutting job). In between all these jobs, we have them clean and seal our pavers every few years to keep the pavers protected. Our yard is beautiful, easy to maintain, and gets constant praise from everyone who walks by our home. You pay for what you get, but the extra money (which is not that much by the way), is definitely worth every amount you put into it. We are very proud of the pavers and very satisfied that we used Brick Paving Systems, Inc.
