They would not refund the $592.00 but only offered to sell us some additional mold lights for $100.00. We do not want these nor do we trust what we would be getting.
Description of Work: We were charged $592.00 for a X-13 blower motor that stopped working. The part was found to still be under warranty but they would not honor that claim. They stated we were never charged for the part (even though it was listed on the invoice and priced out). They said the total charge was for labor only, anotherwords $722.00 for 1.4 hours of technician time. I have invoices and documented technician time. I also have proof of payment from the people who were house sitting at the time.

Description of Work: They solicited a tune up and clean AC unit for $29.95. While unit open told my wife needed $2600 worth of repairs to function properly. She told tech to call me, he did and he repeated that unit needed $2600 worth of work and told him unit was working fine and he was nuts. He than said I could probably get it down to $1800 just to fix immediate problem. Told him to leave immediately after buttoning up unit..

Thru 8 On Your Side I connected with another company that came to my rescue. They not only responded promptly they went out of their way to correct the misadventures of Affordable Group. The owner of the company even stopped by as well to assure my A/C was being properly worked on and that I was satisfied. I consider myself blessed indeed to have had them in a time of great stress over the really 'sad service experience' with Affordable Group. By simply looking at my unit they see a discharge muffler had an obvious and very visible leak. They went to the store for copper piping and returned to fix the problem, cleaned up the mess in the unit where coolant and sealant from Affordable Group was lying on the floor of the unit They also did a by-pass in order to aleviate the friction of two pipes rubbing together from the installation of the A/C which was about to cause another leak and they cleaned everthing up. My a/c had no refrigerant in it after Affordable Group had supposedly added refrigerant twice. My unit should have taken 7 lbs of refrigerant but twice Affordable Group only added 5 lbs. Thus in two hours of actual work/service they charged me far less than Affordable Group did for their 1/2 hr of adding sealant and coolant. And my A/C now cools like it is supposed to. My question would be how difficult would it have been for Affordable Group to have responded positively to my call for clarification of charges. Why not charge responsibly in the first place. Why not treat your customers respectfully, like customers. I guess if you are just in sales versus service you only cover one area. In my estimation it is far less effort and takes less energy to do it right the first time.
Description of Work: In January Affordable Group Heating and Cooling came out for the 6 month maintenance check, said my unit was low on refrigerant but I really needed a new A/C. I said 'no, my unit that you installed 5 yrs ago will have to do' so he added 5 lbs of refrigerant. 2 months later in March I called Affordable Group to find out why my unit would not stay on and would not cool but I instructed them not to send anyone to the house if there would be a service charge as I felt it was related to the first call back in January. Within an hour Donald came to the door, said I needed refrigerant, but really needed a new unit for $6,000 and again I said 'no, fix the leak.' Without checking anything out he said it would be '$887' and that would be the cheapest way to go as finding the leak would be too costly and time consuming. He said my unit would need two cans of sealant, he'd only charge me for one to keep the cost down and the size of the unit would require 5 lbs of refrigerant. I said OK, paid by credit card and within 1/2 hr he was gone. However his paperwork and lack of information and nagging questions of what I paid for what caused me to stop the credit card payment and call Affordable Group to inquire exactly what I paid for. For weeks no one would give me info, accept or return calls. I contacted 8 On Your Side and they did an investigative report which finally resulted in 'the major stockholder' Danny OBannon calling to give 8 On Your Side an itimization of costs. I could not believe they had charged me for things they did not do. They charged me $120 for coming to the house. They tripled charged me for just the half hr it took Donald to add sealant & refrigerant by labeling his services three different ways. All in all, what was most upsetting was that a company that sold me the A/C and had been servicing it, and I use the word servicing loosely, would not return my calls, ripped me off, tried to resell me, took advantage of me and grossly overcharged me - they were extremely rude as well.

TERRIBLE, TERRIBLE COMPANY. LIKE A TICK YOU CAN'T GET RID OF. We actually used this company in 2002, yes, 9 years ago and they have called me every single week day since then offering their services!!! We are on the no call list, but since they say we have a "relationship" with them, they call any time of the day offering their services. I have told them I will NEVER EVER use them again yet they call. At one time I spoke to someone who got them to stop for 6 blissful quiet months, but now it's started up again! I spoke to Darrel, one of the owners, who was really rude and refused to even take my number to have it removed. He was so rude and awful and when I told him I would never, ever use their company he told me I was gay!!!! Amazing, rude, awful company. There are so many great choices out there, please do not use this company.
