Called and left message 3 times that we were interested in talking to them about a project. Took 5-6 days to get a call; required some complaining to get a response. Second time I left a message that we wanted a proposal for some work. Called 3 times over two weeks and never got a return call. Do not waste your time.
Description of Work: Owner does not return phone calls. Very frustrating; very unprofessional.

Overcharge left a bad taste in my mouth. Simple tree cut down and haul away.
Description of Work: Removed a single tree at the request of the neighbor, who thought it threatened their house. Took advantage of coming bad weather, overcharged by double.

I think that they were good. They didn't fix the problem, however, but their effort was very good.
Description of Work: We had them install a draining system for us which involved putting pipes around the garage and leading water to a deeper level.

Landscaping was required by local government to obtain a certificate of occupancy for completion of our new seasonal home in April-May 2009. We had preferred to wait until our return in November 2009 to oversee the work but couldn't. We contracted the company to do the services listed and flew down from our primary residence in May, August & October 2009 to view the progress (but primarily start to move into the new house). Initially the landscaping seemed adequately designed and growing. In September we were contacted that there were problems with the lawn. We authorized the company to treat the problem. On arrival for the season in late November 2009, it was obvious that almost all of the back yard lawn was dead and the front lawn had stripes of alternating live & dead grass indicating uneven application of the treatment. Also at that time it was clear that some of the plantings were dead & others had overgrown the intended space. We have paid the company in full for the services provided. We requested an evaluation about the grass and were told in an arrogant posture by the supervisor in charge of the work that it was our fault for not obtaining a pest control service to treat the lawn. We admit that the maintenance contract did not specify that the company would provide this service but assumed that a landscaping company would provide full service for new landscaping they installed. The company owner has agreed in writing to meet with us but we see little reason to do so since he accepts no blame for the current condition of the landscaping. We will correct the problems at our expense with another company. We want to alert Angies List members to beware of using this company especially for maintenance for a seasonal home that you are unable to oversee the work on a regular basis.
Description of Work: Design & installation of landscaping including lawn & irrigation system at new construction of a seasonal home and subsequent maintenance of landscaping installed from April 2009 through November 2009. 1/27/10 represents the last payment for services to the company.

Response from Soon Come Inc
The members hired Soon Come, Inc. to design, install, and temporarily maintain landscaping for their vacation home on Sanibel. As stated in their letter (see copy), they approved the design, paid the invoice, and prepaid the maintenance. The response letter from Soon Come, Inc. (see copy) addressed the issues they raised and proposed a meeting. As this was the first communication regarding any problems, it was inappropriate for the Kindigs to threaten Soon Come, Inc. before we had an opportunity to meet. I won’t attach their subsequent reply, a two-page more detailed restatement of their complaints, but will quote the first two paragraphs verbatim: “We are responding to your letter of February 1, 2010. Until your letter, we did not know the name of the President of Soon Come Landscaping. Not having met you, addressing us on a first name basis is improper and presumptuous. We take full legal and financial responsibility for making the mistake of having your company install and maintain the landscaping.” Soon Come, Inc. did the best we could to satisfy the members without success. We prefer that our customers are happy with our services and their landscaping projects. We strive to make sure any issue is resolved to the best of our ability. Henry Nachtsheim President ______________________ January 27, 2010 Dear Soon Come Landscaping: Enclosed is a check for $1395 for payment of your invoice #7750 dated 1/5/2010. This fulfills our final contractual financial obligations to your company for installing and maintaining landscaping for our new seasonal home from May 2009 through November 2009. Your company was incompetent in the design, installation and maintenance of our landscaping. We will have to spend considerable time and additional money with another landscaping company to correct the problems that you created. Your response to our request to review our concerns and correct the problems was inadequate. As substantial seasonal residents of Sanibel with numerous contacts, we will discredit your company, employees and services by word of mouth whenever possible. We will inform Dan Hahn Custom Builders who recommended you initially of our dissatisfaction with your work. Using your company was the only significant mistake that we made in the construction and completion. We will file complaint reports with government agencies (Sanibel, Lee County, state of Florida) and with independent consumer watchdog groups. With this check, our relationship is ended. Sincerely, _____________________ February 1, 2010 Thank you for your payment for the January invoice. I have been updated regularly regarding the situation with the grass. We are not aware of any of the other “problems” that you referred to in your letter. At the end of September, Bob advised you that you should engage the services of a pesticide company as your lawn was showing the beginning signs of fungus after the rainy season - which is not uncommon. Pesticide application is not a service that Soon Come, Inc. provides and you assured him that you would get someone when you came down. At your request, and with no guarantee that it would solve the problem, he applied a bag of time-release fungicide. When he met with her in December and you still had not hired a pest control service, Bob asked about it and was told that you were going to take care of it yourselves. After the meeting with her, some plants were replaced, at no charge, and additional mulch was applied in the front by the driveway. We took care of all problems brought to our attention related to warranty items and some extras that were requested. There was never any indication that you were dissatisfied with the project. Now, according to your letter, you are unhappy with the design, the installation, and the maintenance. Design and installation issues should have been addressed at the time you approved the project and before you paid for it - not almost a year later. I don’t appreciate your threats against my company and even though you consider yourselves “substantial seasonal residents”, I would be careful of slander on this small island. I have been in the landscaping business on Sanibel and Captiva since 1988 and stand by my reputation. I would be happy to meet with you to discuss your concerns. Please contact my office to schedule a time when you will be available. Sincerely, Henry Nachtsheim President
