Description of Work: I purchased the Angie's list coupon for $250 to receive $500 worth of service. I met with the owner and advised what I needed done. He told me that what I needed done was not even close to what I paid for and told me he could include the removal of an old, sickly magnolia tree. His service was excellent and fast. I wasn't home when the tree was removed, but my next door neighbor told me he has never seen a tree come down so quickly. I believe Sustainable Tree Care deserves an A+ rating.

Description of Work: Exceptional price and excellent service! We were so impressed with how hard they worked in our job, including one very rainy afternoon, that we gave the owner/manager $20 tips for his crewmen which he immediately passed on to them. Danny was the manager on our job. The managers are hard working members of the crew on this low overhead operation. So calls about future jobs may go unanswered until that evening or that next day. But they did get back to us and insisted on a final walk around the house before they left to be sure we were delighted we their work and their cleanup. Will definitely use them again. Danny also had an impressive knowledge of trees and how they should be cared for.

We obtained quotes from a variety of companies, but I was impressed by the knowledge and expertise of Sustainable Tree Care. They were also sensitive to our particular requests, and took the time to explain how the job would be done. I had quite a few questions about access and schedule and all my calls were returned promptly by both Bill and the owner, Danny. The job itself went to schedule and the guys on the crew were professional and worked extremely hard to get the work done. Unfortunately, thunderstorms moved in towards the end of the job, but the crew returned promptly to finish up. All in all, Sustainable Tree Care did an excellent job, and took particular care to clean up and leave things tidy. I would certainly have no hesitation in asking them to return for future work.

I was extremely impressed by Sustainable Tree Care. They went above and beyond in all areas. Their employees truly care about what they do. They are extremely knowledgeable, courteous, reasonable, communicative, and timely. It was a pleasure working with their team. I most appreciated the advice / recommendations they provided on existing shrubs, trees, etc. Here are the details. I initially need a huge oak tree removed near the garage. The height of the root was causing water to enter the side garage door during the rainy season. Danny met me at my house after work (in the pouring rain) to analyze the situation. He said they would remove the tree / grind the stump, and would grind a large area around the stump so that the height was even with the garage floor. This would prevent water from entering the garage. Their team removed the tree on one day and ground the stump and surrounding area a second day. The second day their team spoke with me to ensure that the ground area was to my satisfaction. I was so happy with the removal of the oak tree that I asked about a few others to be removed. I originally had 8 1/2 trees on my property and it is overwhelming during the shedding season. Danny made another visit to my house to review the other trees to be removed. We decided on removing two Chinese Elms and a small Holly; and trimming a camphor and oak tree by the pool area. While we were walking to the front yard Danny gave advice on the shrubs and palms trees - such as which areas to water more, what should be fertilized, etc. He suggested doing a light trim on the hedges since they were so dense. Their team did all of the work on one day and removed the three stumps a second day. I was so happy with the hedge trimming in the front that while they were grinding the trees stumps, I asked if they could trim the large hedges surrounding the entire backyard. Their team said not a problem and trimmed the hedges the same day and at a great price. In addition, they planted two citrus trees in the backyard. They analyzed the lighting and found the best place to plant the citrus trees. Their team also provided recommendations on fertilizing the backyard hedges and existing oak trees. Everything was over the top and I would highly recommend their services.
Description of Work: Removed four trees - two Chinese elms, a small holly, and a huge oak tree. Trimmed hedges in the front and back, fertilized areas, cut down various 'junk' trees around the hedges, dug up and replaced a shrub, and planted to citrus trees.

They were unable to start on the scheduled times because they couldn't get a permit from Temple Terrace. Because of this delay, I got a quote from another provider and Sustainable Trees was less expensive. Since it was the first time they had worked in this city, they had to provide a lot of documentation and permitting was delayed. They would now be on Temple Terraces approved Provider List. When they were able to start cutting, the tree over the house was found to be split and more dangerous to cut than expected. They had to work very carefully. It then started to heavily rain. They were forced to come back another day. On the second day, they were successful in removing the dying split tree. They thoroughly ground out the stumps as well as the entire flowerbed. We had just purchased this property and the flowerbeds were overgrown with weeds, saplings and trash trees. By grinding them thoroughly, they saved me hours of work. They ground the wood to mulch and helped move it around my yard to save me energy and time. Since it had taken awhile to finish the contracted job, they asked if we could negotiate a price and continue the rest of the day. I had some heavy jobs, moving Ligustrums and Gardenias to new locations as well as trimming some of the overgrown decorative trees and palms. Afterwards, I took a Master's Level Palm Care class and the recommendations made by Danny were accurate to what I learned in my class. The crew was very polite and nice. They worked very hard. I would work with them again in the future.

My service went exceptionally well. Billy came by on april 23rd and asked if I needed tree service as they were in the area doing another job. It was just the right time as this was on my list of things to get done. We walked around the yard and talked about what was needed/wanted with my 4 large oaks and several palms, a couple of rogue umbrella trees and an old stump. I was especially happy because the owner Danny is a trained arborist and they don't like to over clip the trees. They explained it all to me and also said they could fertilize my oaks and palms. They price quoted was less than what I would have thought so I was happy. They planned to come out the next day. They arrived late the next day with a crew of 4 and went right to work. They had to return the next day to finish the job and fertilize the trees. They even showed me how to fertilize my own trees. The result was awesome. My neighbors are so happy with the results also. The guys were friendly and cleaned up all the mess, and there was a lot! I feel like I've got a new yard. It's so pretty. Thanks Danny, Billy and crew. I will call again when I need you next. They also told me that if done right I shouldn't have to have them redone for at least 3 or 5 years. That's okay with me as I love the trees and want to keep them healthy and happy!!!

Sustainable Tree Care did a lot of work in our neighborhood after Tropical Storm Debbie came through. We saw the work they did and we were impressed. We had them come over on Sat. June 30 to look at what we needed done and to get a quote, which they did. We were impressed with their professionallism and knowledge and so we hired them to do the work, but wanted to spread the work out in order to pay for it easier. They did agree. It was several weeks before they came out. We had the rear work done first. They did do a great job of cleaning out the weeds and vegetation that was filling in the back by the canal. Again we were impressed so I asked them to take out the lillies that were overgrown as well. They said they would do it for $50.00 and added this to the quote. I paid them $400.00 at this time. After they cleaned out the back, I had to call them several times to get them to come back and remove the lillies as well as spray the ground they had cleared. After several phone calls, someone came out while I was at work and cleaned out the lillies. But there was still no spraying done. We knew this because the weeds and vegetation that were left never died, they just kept growing. Danny and his lead man, Bill, came out after many phone calls to look at the rear area and to get the rest of their money. When they came, I again asked about the spraying and Danny said it had been done. I explained that it couldn't have been done because nothing died and the weeds were knee deep already. If they had been sprayed, it would have been a longer period of time before they would have started to grow back. But as I explained to him, there was never any spraying done because nothing ever showed being sprayed as it would have been shown through brown leaves or dying vegetation. He said he would look into it and get it done. He asked for his last monies so I paid him $400.00 cash. I never heard from him or his company after repeated phone calls. We never got the spraying done as they said they would do. I was really disappointed as we were actually pleased with their work, they were just very difficult to get ahold of and never completely followed through with what they said they would do. We wanted to have them do the front tree, but now I don't know if I could trust them to do what they said they would do. I will say that Danny was very good about working with us on finances and that when he cashed a check too soon he made amends and it all got worked out. Most companies would not do that. I liked Danny and Bill, but I just got tired of calling them to try and get done what we had agreed upon. Too bad, because we needed the front tree done.
Description of Work: Sustainable Tree care gave us a quote to trim our front oak tree (Bring vine down to 20 ft., Remove deadwood, conflicting limbs, and make corrective cuts). The next quote was to "clear out rear of property. Bring down to dirt, and Norfolk removal and vine removed from fence." Verbally, Danny Thomas told me they would spray the area after cleaning it down to the dirt to kill anything left. Then the 2 oaks in the back were to have 'deadwood removed and elevation of lower limbs". They were to remove all debris.

I got my tree cut but I am compelled to get an third party rood inspector just to be sure before it gets too late.
Description of Work: I was visited by a sales person from the service who was doing work down the road....It looked like they did a nice job so I had them cut a few limbs off a tree that were hanging over my house. When they arrived and began work, I heard a loud noise in the house; a limb had been cut and fell on the roof. I went outside and ask one of the guy if it hit the roof. He explained it barely grazed the gutter. My home office is right under this area of the rood. I spoke with the supervisor on the job about my concern and suggested it get checked out. One of the technicians came over. I felt like he was trying to talk me out of my concern. I explained I heard a lod "boom". He asked if I would like for him to get his ladder and check it out and said yes. Small talk continued and as he walked away I told him I didn't have any other problem except a concern of possible water damage from a roof leak...as he continued to walk away, he yelled across the street back at me (thinking I was already in the house), ?I sure sounds like you got a F****** problem. I called the main number and spoke with a supervior. I admitted I was a little steeamed because I did not feel they were taking my concerns seriously. Anopther coupole of guys came over and went on the roof to take some pictures. The problem is that you can not inspect the roof board with the shingles on. I explained that I wanted them to note my concern on the invoice for future reference in the event I do find a leak from a cracked roof board. At first they were very professional, did what they said they would do and the price was reasonable; however, I will not use them again because if there is a problem or concern, I beleive they tried streering me away from ant issue and did not do enought to ensure any damage was done.

A salesperson stopped by and talked to me saying they were just finishing up a job in my neighborhood, would I like my tall oaks trimmed? We called the number on the card and they came out immediately, with the principal, "Matt", telling us all about our trees and why we needed $3200 worth of work. He said he'd be onsite and his partner, a licensed arborist, and he would work together to trim the big oaks appropriately. We signed on. They started a day early with a crew of about 4 guys and worked all day. After about a half hour, Matt knocked at the door and said he had to leave for a family emergency but that his partner would handle things. He also talked us into $500 worth of additional fertilizer for the trees, which he said we needed because of a magnesium deficiency. We went out for the day, and when we came home we found that his partner had also left early on and there was no certified arborist on site at all. The team worked until 7pm and my wife was waiting to go out, so she did not inspect all the work before giving them a check, which they requested be made out to a single name, not ProArbor. They promised all the work was done. But it wasn't. The palm trees had not been fertilized at all, although we paid an additional $500 for that, and one oak had not even been touched. They left piles of fertilizer on the lawn which the dogs ate and it made them sick. This was instead of drilling holes for the fertilizer aorund the oaks as Matt had promised. We called Matt and he came out again and promised to make things right. After a few days they did finally trim the oak, but we saw no sign that they'd fertilized the other trees as they said. Meanwhile, they started two or three more jobs in my neighborhood and finished us all up around the same time. Since we had left on vacation, we have no way of proving they never did the fertilizer, but we can say for sure there were no holes drilled into the turf. All in all, we figure that Matt subcontracts with inferior teams and doesn't supervise to see if what he's promised comes true. They did clean up all the debris, though, which was good.

Ben stopped by our house on a Friday afternoon while his crew was working elsewhere in the neighborhood. We have very large oak trees that had not been pruned in a few years, along with freeze-damaged landscaping in need of removal. Ben described exactly what his crew would do and made recommendations to improve the overall appearance of our yard. Pro Arbor's bid was a bit higher than others I'd received, but I was impressed with Ben's knowledge and professionalism. Still, we took the weekend to research and decide. When Ben stopped by again on Monday, we were ready to approve the bid and agreed to start the next day. The team showed up promptly at 8:30 a.m. Tuesday and put in a full day's work in our backyard. They cleaned up everything when they were done, leaving only the debris that was to be removed at the end of the job. My husband was somewhat skeptical at the outset because of the cost, but they won him over because the landscaping looked so much better! Wednesday morning, same thing: team arrived promptly at 8:30 a.m. and set to work in the front yard. They worked a bit longer because of the size of the trees, but by the time they were finished, all the freeze damaged plants were pruned and/or removed, leaves raked, walks, driveway and roof cleaned off, even trash picked up and thrown away. They had to come back Thursday morning to finish up the last tree and remove debris, but ended up working until early afternoon. The bid was for 2 full days of work, but the debris removal truck was out of service for 2 days, necessitating the third morning (we were not charged for the extra half day). I was very impressed with everyone on the Pro Arbor team, who all exhibited a high degree of professionalism and respect for our property. Needless to say, our yard looks MUCH better now.
