Description of Work: Terry came out to my home and spent 3 + hours on our service call. Much of that time was spent with him sitting in our kitchen floor running his mouth about everything other than the refrigerator. Finally he tells us that it's one of two parts that causing the problem and it just best if we replace them both. He goes on to tell us how other techs would just replace the control board and in 90% of the cases it doesn't need to be replaced. We agreed to the parts replacement only for him to realize that he only had one of the parts. He tell us to try it out and if it gives us a problem again that he would come back and replace the second part. And we would need pay for the part but not the service fee. On February 15 we realize the refrigerator isn't working again so I placed a call to him at 8 am on the 2-16, letting him know we're having an issue again and asking him to come back out. We gave him the model number and he says that he'll call us back. Two hours later and no call back from him, I called him back and he tells me that the control board is bad and will need to be replaced. What a joke this tech is! What happened to replacing the second part before the control board, and how exactly does that get diagnosed OVER THE PHONE? I had another far more reputable company come out and repair the unit and it was NOT THE CONTROL BOARD! Would never use this guy again. Point blank waste of money and time.

He went to his supplier, picked up the part and was back quickly to install the replacement. The part was reasonably priced (he does not mark up parts) and his hourly charge is much less than other repair services. He was friendly and competent and I would not hesitate to recommend him.

+ -1 moreI called Terry to ask about repairing my Mom's 20-30yr old electric oven. I was able to contact him on the first attempt, just after 8am on the Saturday before Labor Day. He indicated the most common cause for these types of ovens not working was the breaker being out. I said I would check when I visited her in a few hours. After finding out exactly what the situation was, I called Terry back to give him an update (the oven had been fried by a lightning strike, and the owner of the trailer park had cut the wires to keep it from blowing fuse after fuse). I was advised that, given the age and model of this oven, the wiring would probably be cause for safety concerns, and it would be better to replace than repair, but because this required cabinetry work, a handyman would be a better person for the job. I found him to be very polite, completely honest, and if my mom has any more appliance problems in the future he'll be the guy I contact.
Description of Work: Asked about repairing a 20-30yr old oven installed in my Mom's trailer. Terry advised against repair as the ancient wiring would be a safety hazard.

I especially liked that he walked me through the repair so that if it ever happened again I would know how to fix it myself. I can't recommend Terry highly enough!

+ -1 moreFrom beginning to end, everything went extremely well. It's quickly evident that Terry is a very friendly, polite and knowledgeable person. But the especially impressive part is this: even in the face of a significant and unexpected challenge (ie. the extremely limited amount of space there was to work in), he remained exceedingly patient, pleasant, and informative ... and maintained a calm and positive attitude throughout.
Description of Work: The simple answer is: Terry fixed my washing machine by replacing the broken motor coupling. But the complication was this: here at my house, the washing machine and dryer are located in a very small, confined area which presented a significant extra challenge. I was extremely impressed and very appreciative of the extra effort and ingenuity Terry used to get the job done.

+ -1 moreThe owner Terry (one of the nicest people I have ever met) diagnosed the problem over the phone from my answers to his questions. He said the repair with service call parts and labor would cost $110 plus tax. He showed up within 5 minutes (early) of the appt time. Fixed the problem in 17 minutess and the bill was exactly as he had quoted. It's rare to have the experience we just had with him. I hope we don't have appliance breakdowns in the future but if and when we do we wouldn't even consider calling any other company. Thankyou Terry!!!

+ -1 moreTerry was quick to respond and fix the problem with my dryer at half the cost of Sears. He was pleasant to speak with and he showed me what was going on with my dryer. He is an honest, prompt and trustworthy individual and I would hire him again if there is an appliance problem in my home.
Description of Work: Our dryer broke last week and I started calling around this morning to get a service person to repair it. I first called Sears but they couldn't get me on their schedule for 2 days and the cost was outrageous (and that was just for them coming out to my home). I contacted Terry from Angie List and he was at my home within an hour and a half and my dryer was fixed within 15 minutes for only $70 (that is for both labor and the materials). I would ABSOLUTELY recommend Terry!

+ -1 moreWe called Sunday morning about 7:30 am. All lines were busy, so we were going to call a little later, but they returned our call within 10 minutes. We explained that the freezer just stopped working during the night and he said he would be there between 8:30 and 9:00 am. When he arrived, he started working immediately and found that the relay switch was broken. We were very lucky because sometimes these switches explode and then they have to clean the whole unit, which could take hours of work. But, he replaced the switch and was gone within 30 minutes. The switch cost $60.00, so the service fee was extremely reasonable. He explained that they do not charge extra for evening or weekends. I can't begin to tell you how happy I was about that. In addition to this, he was very professional, pleasant and prompt. He did not act like we were an inconvenience to him. I really appreciated his attitude. We will definintely use him again for any repairs on large appliances.
Description of Work: Our freezer stopped working on Saturday night. We didn't realize until Sunday morning that we had a problem.

+ -1 moreMy phone call was answered at 5:15 pm, I posed the problem and the person said he would get back to me in 10 minutes to let me know the possible problem with my oven. In 10 minutes he called me. He said he could get the part the next day and install it that evening at 7pm when I got home from work. At 7 pm the next day he came with the part, installed it and was done in about 20 minutes. Very pleasant, neat, honest, and best of all, the oven works after months of putting off the job because we thought we'd need a new one or get gouged by a dishonest repairman. Even my husband was amazed! We will call him again if needed for appliance repair.
