They were absolutely wonderful. Fast, amazing quality and clean. They also took into consideration the safety issues with her project an expedited the timeline. We would hire them again in a heartbeat. I can't say enough good things about them. Another important thing to note is that they kept the Integrity of the home in mind when rebuilding the porch. This was very important to us since it's a historic home with a large front porch. They had the knowledge and skill to deliver a renovation that honored the history of our home. It's very hard to find that plus all the other wonderful characteristics.
Description of Work: We had our entire front porch reconstructed - the roof since it was rotted out and dangerous.

We asked for an estimate to do repairs to a 2 story garage apartment. Grady came to the house on 8/5 and on 8/7, and stated he would provide a written estimate. We scheduled a meeting on 8/13 to discuss his estimate. He arrived with nothing written down and announced the cost would be $60,000 (yes $60 K), with no supporting documentation and another promise to email a proposal. The Florida Department of Professional Business Regulation does not show a that Grady holds a Certified Residential Contractor license. His wife, Diane, who never viewed the property, does hold a license but her role appears to be administrative. I recommend you use someone else.

First let me clarify that Grady and myself are partners in this business. QHR is fully licensed and insured and our company has a fantastic reputation with the city building department and our clients that employ us. Our responsibilities to the business are split and diverse. Grady handles the field portion of our business and there is probably no one more attuned with all structural aspects of these historical homes. We have pages and pages of referrals to back these statements up. Grady did come to your house on 8/5 and then returned on 8/7. You called our office in regard to your “leaning” 2nd story garage apartment porch. With the extent of work that would need to be completed on your 1925 1410 square foot garage apartment (including structural plans), there is no way that we could give you anything other than a verbal ballpark in two days. I think it would be very fair to get into the logistics of your project. In our opinion, your garage and 2nd story rental apartment are literally falling into the alley. The clapboards have buckled; your rear 2nd story, 310 square foot, cantilevered porch (above the alley) in our opinion is extremely unsafe. This porch is pulling the entire structure into the alley. It’s pretty easy to conclude that if this structure falls it could potentially not only cause extreme damage but could very well injure someone in the process if not worse. Grady would not enter the 2nd story apartment in its’ current state and your husband mentioned that if he does go in, he always looks for the quickest way out should something happen. This is by no means a small remodeling task! I believe that we mentioned that renting this unit in its’ present state would be very dangerous. We did not provide you with a written estimate because you asked Grady to leave your property which he did immediately. You have the right to get as many opinions/project costs on this as makes you feel comfortable. In fact, Grady mentioned this to you. The pressing issue was not whether QHR completed this work, but that someone completed the work to put the structure into a safe state. As a licensed contractor on your home site viewing the extreme danger of this situation, we could be held potentially liable if we just walked away and did not report this potential danger to the city, which we have done. This was the worst case of a potential building fail that we have ever seen. We hope that you find someone that you feel comfortable working with on your project.

In responce to QHR's comments about us needing to be available onsite for their cabnetry subs, we wew able to work very happily with Cab-net.com out of Largo on a great cabinet design and cabinets that the installer had no problem installing without us needing to be onstite.
Description of Work: They got us out of a bind to help us get a remodel job where the first contractor had severe quality issues. So we are grateful for that. The work QHR did was fine, but they chose not to finish some of the work still left to do even though we discussed it from the beginning. It felt like they ran out of steam on our job and had bigger jobs to move on to.

We are very sorry that you felt this way. We took on this project after you fired your first contractor and tried our best to make you happy. We walked into a mess and straightened everything out. We did finish everything in your home and had all of our permits finalled out by the city. The only project that we stepped back from (which was never in our contract) was the custom build of your laundry room cabinets. Our company did not run out of steam, our custom cabinetry subcontractor who built your closet systems declined from working any further on your project. The subcontractor went so far as to come out on the weekend to accommodate your schedule. He decided that he was not the best fit for your custom laundry room cabinetry. It's very difficult to build something custom and not have a client available for input during the process other than via phone. It leads to a no win situation on all fronts. Communication is absolute key, especially on a custom project. QHR knew that the only communication that we would have would be via phone, which was not ideal and we felt that we probably would not make you happy. We hope you love your remodel and wish you the very best!

They’re tremendous, very professional, prompt with replying to phone calls and e-mails and they’re very upfront about the steps that things are gonna happen. They stick to the schedule they told us they would stick to. All the subcontractors that they use were well dressed, polite and easy to work with. They were really great to work with. This company was recommended to us by our realtor and they were phenomenal. From start to finish there have been a couple of little things that weren’t perfect afterwards that they keep sending people back to make it right. I would highly recommend them.

We work on old houses and they are specialists in old houses. Their price is reasonable, they do it in a fixed cost basis. They do quality work and they do it on time, they finish it on time.
Description of Work: I use Quality Home Renovators, LLC. They're still doing some work for us, they've done 3 houses and they're working on our fourth.

This company just didn't want our business
Description of Work: I called Quality Home Renovators on 11/13/12 to remodel my bathrooms. After giving my address I was informed that they were working in another county and were too busy for me. I live in a high quality mobilehome park with 300 homes. I was not given the courtesy of a later date, or referral to another company.

My name is Diane Portelli and I personally spoke with you on the phone. I apologize sincerely if you felt slighted in any way. I inquired as to where you lived only for information as to what county you were in. Currently, we have 4 crews working full time and unfortunately we cannot take on any additional work outside of Pinellas County. It certainly would not be fair to you at all if I did not mention this upfront. Sometimes this happens to high quality contractors with excellent references and in no way did I mean to slight you. I could not give you any names of contractors as we do not partner with other contractors and I would not want to recommend anyone if I am not familiar with their work. I wish you the best with your project and I am so sorry that we weren't able to take on your project. Happy Holidays! Diane Portelli, Contractor, Quality Home Renovators

The work was done quickly and quality was great. They let us do the demo work of tearing down the rest of the plaster from the ceiling to save on the cost since I was out of work at that time.
Description of Work: The plaster ceiling in one of the rooms of our house had some damage, so we hired QHR to replace the ceiling with a new dry wall ceiling.

Excellent, from start to finish. Quote was detailed, updates, change orders exactly as expected, and all the details extremely well taken care of. Our highest recommendation to Diane and Grady of Quality Home Renovators.
Description of Work: We recently contracted with Quality Home Renovators to renovate our condominium in St. Pete Beach Florida. Living in Massachusetts, we were concerned about finding a professional firm that we could trust and would be able to work with us long distance. QHR exceeded our expectations in every way. The renovation involved gutting and remodeling of a kitchen, replacement of AC unit and water heater as well as updates and painting. Diane and Grady were a joy to work with. Diane provided detailed updates with pictures every week. She guided us along every step of the process, helped immensely with decorating (she has a great sense of color), and more than made sure that all the major issues, and all the minor details, foreseen and unforeseen were taken care of. Diane took care of all the documentation, permitting and was there for us when furniture deliveries were made, and even helped us by picking up a stove we found on Craig’s List. We cannot say enough about the level of service, professionalism and enthusiasm that they bring to a project.

The project was started on time and workers arrived punctually every day, as did all the subcontractors. The subcontractors used were all of the highest quality. QHR sealed off the rest of the house to keep the dust to a minimum . Dianne was invaluable when it came to picking out granite counter tops, floor tiles, backsplash, and paint colors. QHR went far above and beyond to provide a quality finished product. We are now planning several other projects with QHR and would not hesitate to recommend them to anyone.
Description of Work: I can not say enough good things about QHR. Grady and Dianne Portelli met with us and discussed the project in detail which included a complete renovation of our kitchen and adding a new 1/2 bath. During the initial meeting they made several suggestion. At our second meeting they provided a detailed layout of the design they proposed and a detailed, written proposal. They went over the proposal page by page and provided a time line. Their's was not the lowest bid, nor was it the highest but, we felt extremely comfortable with Grady and Dianne.
