We had an installation technician named "Samantha", and she was the best technician we ever encountered from Geek Squad!!!! She went out of her way to hook our new TV up and show us how to us it! My husband and I are older, and not that tech. savvy (still learning). We are also going to contact her supervisor, and we hope she gets some kind of monetary compensation for doing such a great job!!!! Would hire again!!!!

I have yearly Geek Squad contract for computer trouble shooting. Called for help. They said my problem was more complex and I needed to take to store. Made appointment.. Went next day and signed in for appointment. After waiting several minutes while the guy continued to take walk ups, I had to interrupt the next person to call attention to my appointment. The guy said I needed to sign in and I said I already did. He looked at board and told me to come on up. He turned on my computer and looked at random website to see how computer was operating for 15 seconds, then said I needed to leave it with Geek Squad to look at further, even though I had a 15 minute appointment scheduled for him to look at in detail. He estimated the turnaround time to be 7-10 business days. I questioned this time frame and even spoke to the manager and they said it was the best they could do. I took my computer and left. Tried to get a refund by calling Geek Squad main office and they very rudely told me I had already used their service 1 time and because of that I was not entitled to a refund. I ask about prorating my refund and they said that was not possible. So I am stuck with paying $200 for this yearlong service that is completely inadequate. Very disappointed in Geek Squad and how rude I was treated by several employees there. Especially the one that was over the top rude about giving me a refund. Also, the turnaround time to dropoff computer at store for service is completely unacceptable at 7-10 business days. I strongly recommend people look elsewhere for computer help.

Not well, I really feel that they lied to me.
Description of Work: I had recently purchased a new laptop to replace one approximately 7 years old, Since I had been a member of the Geek Squad I took both my old and new to have data from the old transferred to the new. They told me that the set would be fee, I would have to pay the $89 to transfer some of the information, so we went thru all the details of what could and couldn't be done. He even called a tech from the back to come and we went thru it and the tech said he could do it. He wrote it all up on what to transfer and what to set up. Said it could take 7-10 days to set up, well they called 3 days later to say it was ready so my son took me to pick it up and when they turned it on, only 3 of 5 programs were transferred. The said that they couldn't do the rest due to "store policy". I was not happy so he called the store manager over and they told me they could give me a refund for the computer but I would loose the $89, and they would have to remove all data. I asked if they would call the 2 employees over since I had seen them when we came in and he wouldn't do it. So I ended up taking the computer, I am not happy.

Went better than expected after many of the stories I've heard. Took roughly 90 minutes to put stand together (glass and metal) with me helping only once (ever wish you had three hands) not sure how anyone would do this by them self. Hung TV and bolted on and went back and tightened every screw and bolt, they are still tight after three years. Removed all boxes and trash. Biggest hassle was in the store with delivery and set up. At first they wanted $700 for both but I became rather loud as I bought a TV, Blu-Ray and stand so I was like I guess we can forget the whole thing, $700 is WAY too much. Was offered it at $500 and I sort of tilted my head as "your kidding" so finally a manager said how about $350, DEAL put in writing. TV and Blu-Ray were on sale (no on the net had it cheaper, same price). I ended up paying tax but at the same time I didn't have to deal with it being delivered or setting it up.
Description of Work: Delivered 50 inch TV and floating stand . Put stand together and mounted TV to stand.

Overall? I have already described the situation. NOTE: work was performed at Best Buy business not at my home.
Description of Work: Fix my computer/virus. Did not do all I asked for. Took A WEEK(!!!) to do the work. Then I got it home and it works worse than before. Slooow. So now I have to get it fixed all over again! I was told they are 'short' of help. News reports said the company laid off many employees. Whatever the reason, their fixit service has slowed to a crawl.........I have never been to a place that took a week to fix a computer.

The installation was a disaster . They put the TV on the wall . After it was installed and all of the holes were drilled , they informed us that they could not run the wires in the wall . So we were stuck with the TV on the wall and all of these wires hanging down . When we asked what to do next they said it was our issue and we would have to get some conduit at a hardware store to cover the wires . Also , we paid to have the Boes speakers reinstalled on the wall . They were unable to do that becaues they did not have the parts . So , we now had speakers , which were previously on the wall , now sitting on the floor . With that , they left . After they left , we were unable to get the TV to work . So we called the help line . The Geek Squad help line told us it would be two weeks before they could get a techniction to even talk to us on the phone . We requested the help line to walk us through the connections to see if one of them was loose , and they refused . The help line only schedues technictions , does not provide any help . We requiested a supervisor and got the same answer . We had to get conduit to cover the wires . We had to call our cable provider to work through the problems with the TV . The next day we went to the store on 66th street in St Pete where we had placed the order . The price included a charge of $150 for the installation of the speakers . We felt a refund was due . The store manager informed us that since the technictions unscrewed the speakers from the wall they were due the full fee . He indicated it was our problem that we did not have the parts to reinstall the speakers on the wall . Never use Best Buy or the Geek Squad for anything .
Description of Work: The service was to install a flat screen TV on a wall . The most important part was to run the wires in the wall so that there were no wires or conduit showing . That is the entire reason we chose Best Buy and the Geek Squad . The said they had the expertise to do the job .

a disaster
Description of Work: installation of car stereo speakers both front and rear. required 3 trips to installation services, speakers were not installed properly. was told sound quality was poor because speakers needed to be upgraded. Upgraded speakers (double the cost) still inferior sound. prior to 3rd trip stopped at Bad to the Bone for second opinion and they diagnoisd problem in 5 minutes and found the polarity or phase had been switched. Went back to geek squad for my money back and they would not refund. talked with asst mgr and got same silly scripted answers Down right rude. Took car back to Bad to the Bone paid 55.00 and had installation done properly.

I initially called to explain the problem and get an estimate. I was told the amount for a diagnostic and clean up and the price quoted would be the total price for the repair. The computer was dropped off on Friday with an written estimated due date of Tuesday. On Tuesday I called and was told it was being repaired and would be ready that night or Wednesday morning. On Wednesday night, it was not ready and I had no estimated date. For the next three days I called and was told each time, "we are finishing it now and it should be ready tonight." Each time I tried to call for a status, I made at least three calls before anyone answered. I was also told the system would need a back up completed, which would cost an addition $30 per program. Ultimately Geek Squad staff agreed to complete the back up as part of the package and I was not charged. When I eventually picked up the computer on Sunday, NINE days after drop off, I was told that they could not reinstall any software. That was up to me. I am still looking for files. But I do have the option of taking the system back and waiting while they find the files, at no charge of course. I don't have nine days to sit in the store!
Description of Work: Computer was registering a virus. It was taken into the store to have the virus removed and ensure no files had been damaged.
