One can not say enough good things about the positive customer service attitude that Ed and his team (crew) have. They showed up a little before the planned time (because they're enthusiastic like that). They did the whole job carefully and professionally. They are pleasant people. They leave things very cleaned. Our trees never had such a beautiful shape. My husband trusted me on this, even though the price was above our planned budget and we had never used this company. My husband was very pleased with everything and told me that I made a good call. (BIG thank you for that, Ed DePaul.) As a major bonus, Ed has so much knowledge as an arborist and he was very generous with sharing many tips to help with various trees and plants. I wrote them down and will use them. It's rare that you see someone approach their job with such an obvious love of what they do. That was very inspiring.
Description of Work: They pruned, cleaned, shaped 3 large oak trees. They cut down two small trees that were damaging our fence by growing into them. As a complete (very pleasant) surprise, Ed also trimmed up our small palm trees in the front so that they would look as beautiful as the oak trees. They also removed some of our already present brush when they removed the other debris.

We had a very large live oak get struck by lightning a few weeks ago. Blew out electronics in not only our house but neighbor's as well. To say the least it was a frightening experience. Long story short, we had several certified arborists out and they all agreed the large branch that took the brunt of the strike needed to be removed. When I say large, the branch weighed over 10,000 pounds and El Cheapo needed to bring in a crane, etc. in order to remove branch. We chose El Cheapo mostly because of price (they were one-third the price of the other two quotes) but also because the owner, Ed DePaul, seemed knowledgeable, honest, and forthright about the direction we should take. It should be noted that I did not even want to remove the branch as we LOVE this massive live oak - but given our limited options, we chose to remove the large branch in hopes the tree will survive. Ed's crew spent half a day removing the branch and the job was done well and on time and a price that was agreeable. We would certainly use El Cheapo again and would recommend them to others.

They did a great job. The fence-line pruning was a sensitive job since the tree is in my neighbor's yard. Ed spoke to my neighbor and explained what they were going to do. His background as an certified arborist helped in this regard. His workmen were very careful while working in my neighbor's yard and they left the work area in very good condition. Ed explained to me how he was going about the prune on the tree in my front yard. He wanted to thin out the limbs and create a more balanced growth, while addressing my concerns about a few limbs.
Description of Work: El Cheapo did a major fence-line pruning of an old Laurel Oak in my neighbor's yard and a more modest pruning of a Live Oak in my front yard. They came as scheduled, provided worker's comp and general liability certificates to me, and completed work in a timely and professional manner.

about trees and plants. Eddie DePaul is that someone. They arrived on time, went right to work, did a great job and now our yard looks great. Their price is reasonable and they made sure we were both happy with their work. I will use them again, and would certainly recommend others do as well.
Description of Work: Trimmed our trees in our back yard, and a tree in our front yard the County wanted to cut limbs off of because the branches hung over the street. We wouldn't let them, even though it wouldn't cost us anything. We wanted someone experienced and knowledgeable

It went extremely well! I asked if they wanted a down payment but they declined. They said when the job is done, we know you will pay us. They did a magnificent job, cleaned up well. When there was some questions they came directly to us . They trimmed the hedges exactly how I asked, and even made suggestions for the next time. They really did a wonderful job!
Description of Work: They trimmed two twenty five foot tall palm trees. They trimmed a hedge that was twelve foot tall and forty feet long, and also trimmed three smaller six-to-eight foot palm trees.

Amazing! First, these guys came in at about half the price we got quoted by another high-ranking business on Angie's List--and for more work than the first guy quoted. Second, they pulled up in rigs that were out of this world. Just because they call themselves and quot;El Cheapoand quot; for their great prices doesn't mean their equipment is cheap--more like El Expensivo Equipment, gigantic rigs. And they blew through this work, doing two trees at once. They also had a great attitude and were very personable. Last but not least, I was impressed that they could get the permit we needed for one of the trees. Overall, Ed and his crew are top-notch professionals doing outstanding work for great prices. We really appreciated the job they did.
Description of Work: Cut down a huge sycamore tree, pruned a huge camphor tree and cut a large limb from it (about 1/5 of the tree), cut down a Queen palm, and ground a bunch of stumps from other plants.

Arrived 30 min late, but I was called and notified of the delay 30 min before arrival was due. The only reason I mentioned this is that it is amazing to be called on a 30 min delay in this day and age. The equipment used on the removal was amazing. Sign truck, 70 foot crane, lift machines, stump grinders, dump trucks, etc,. They were prepared for any thing and seemed capable of handling any emergency. All of the equipment was beautifully maintained. The workers were extremely cheerful and were constantly busy handling the various jobs. They were the most professional looking crew I have seen in many years. I had problems getting the permit for the Pines I wanted to remove, but that was handled by Ed with little problems. It pays to have a certified Arborist on staff. The name of the company does not reflect the quality of the operation. It has to one of the worst named companies I have ever seen. El Cheapo is one of the best organized companies I have ever seen and their abilities surpass anything I expected. The results speak for themselves. My suggestion is that if you want trees removed you need to call EL-CHEAPO.

We had a huge laurel oak right up against our house. Ed determined the oak was diseased and needed to be removed. He handled the permitting and contacted us as soon as the permit was approved. A crew showed up bright and early with a crane and all the necessary equipment to do the job in a professional and efficient manner. As close as the tree was to the house, I was simply amazed they did not put so much as a scratch on my house, each limb was softly lowered to the ground via crane to ensure no dents in the yard, the stump was ground and the entire area was cleaned up. You can't even tell there was ever a tree there. I will definitely call Ed again should I need work done to other trees on my property.

Once again, Ed and his crew did a great job. The precision utilized in downing the two trees was impressive to watch. Both trees were within a few feet of our town homes and the team managed to get the trees down and out without any harm to property. This is the fifth job we have utilized El Cheapo to complete. Each and every time they have performed as promised, on time with great clean-up. My favorite part about this company is the owner, Ed DePaul. Ed is an experienced arborist and LOVES his job. He listens well and does a great job educating you on the trees and plants. I would highly recommend Ed for any job, small or large, he offers a fantastic service !

A crew of 5 worked on the property from around 9:45am through around 5:45pm. Ed was there through morning and early afternoon to instruct and supervise. His crew were instructed in detail and Ed personally directed the work on the large laurel oak. We were on site the whole time and Ed spent a lot of time educating us. The crew were extremely effective, efficient, personable and professional. The clean-up was excellent. We were very happy with the results. I was extremely glad and relieved that we used El Cheapo. We had 4 estimates from a selection of businesses that ran the gamut. El Cheapo was not the cheapest but there is no way I would hire the businesses who were. Neither would I have hired the most expensive as the information Ed provided during the estimate went to a much deeper level and gave me a greater level of comfort (their price was ridiculously high anyway). Based on our experience, Ed is definitely the cheapest for the quality of service provided, detailed as follows: the quality of work, excellent level of communication, Ed's willingness to share his extensive knowledge, experience, expertise and love of trees and botany in general and to make sure we are satisfied. Ed was the person we spoke to during all communications, scheduling etc. He is extremely prompt and accessible on telephone and email. At our request, he provided us a copy of his insurance promptly and everything was in order. He treats his customers as educated consumers. As a result, we will use Ed in future and also for advice ongoing.
Description of Work: Trimmed 2 washingtonian palms (and removed dead vine on trunk), one date palm, one cabbage palm, 4 ligustrums, one decorative tree and a southern magnolia. Cleaned up a citrus, a camphor, an acacia, a china berry and a fenceline of miscellaneous trees. Two small trees were cut down. Major work was performed on a large laurel oak with damage.

I have received 7 tree removal quotes over the last 6 days and Ed's quote was the best! I was quoted from the high end of 10,000 with most around 6,000 and one at 4,800. This price of 4,000 is the best and they carry all the insurance needed including the very important Workers Comp insurance. Thank you for the Great Deal.

The guy is a certified arborist. So he is very educated. He is very patient in explaining to you anything you need to know about diseases or recommendations. He made multiple visits to make sure everybody had their questions answered, the seven different owners. He is very patient and very professional. We never have any issues with getting everybody's questions answered. He takes all the time you need. He doesn't act like he is in a hurry to get somewhere. He is with you. Until you are sure you got everything clear he doesn't go.

Description of Work: Ed DePaul and his crew do an utterly amazing job! They even 'air-pruned' a large oak whose roots were pushing over one of the stucco walls in our condominium community. Truly amazing process! We saved the tree, pruned and redirected the roots and fixed the wall. Ed has been pruning our Oaks, Bottle Brush, and Palm trees for several years. He and his crew have the appropriate training and certifications and do a very detailed job. Also - they are fun to work with.

I used them even before I signed up with Angie's List. I used them a year or two before signing up. I was completely satisfied with them. I liked that their prices are very reasonable. They are insured. They do a good job, and they clean up afterwards. They won't do anything that is not necessary. They arrived when they were supposed to. They quoted me ahead of the Queen Palm that died. The owner came over, and he was very nice. He quoted me of a job he would do and take the Queen Palm down. When they came here, they asked me a few other things. I had them do other things while they were here. The person who came out was a very young guy, but he was very professional. He was good, and he knew what he was doing too.

It was probably also at least 10 inches above ground and had him grind it down to a foot under. It was oak, so it was a hard wood. He quoted $450.00 including hauling away. The others were at least $100.00 over this estimate. He came out to quote the work and showed me pictures of past projects. He answered all my questions, which I asked a lot of questions. My main concern was that I did not have a lot of chips. He guaranteed I would be completely satisfied. I am very pleased with his work. It is mixed in with the ground, so it does not look like all white chips. They cleaned up afterwards. His work and price was beautiful. They did a great job. It was fantastic. I would definitely hire them and recommend them to anyone else. I had a friend who wanted the extra chips, brought his truck over and the helped load the chips for him. My friend who wanted the chips is a carpenter, he watched them do the work. None of them got upset, they were all very professional even when working in the heat. I even paid him a little extra because he did some extra work for me for free.
