Bill Thompson's A Closer Look Home Inspections Inc

Bill Thompson was recommended by our realtor to perform a home inspection on a home on which we had put a contract. During the inspection, he made no mention about the flashing around the chimney, nor about the badly installed flat, asphalt roof. We noticed a leak in the family room ceiling and garage ceiling a few weeks ago and proceeded to get estimates. Each roofer and/or contractor that came out diagnosed the issue as flashing around the chimney as well as the cracked top of the chimney cap which had been skimcoated and each person was surprised to hear that a home inspector never mentioned this to us, nor any mention of the "blisters" on the asphalt roof due to faulty installation. Once the repair of the flashing began, the contractor noticed that the plywood inside the chimney frame was completely rotted out (most likely due to the faulty flashing and cracked cement chimney cap. We have just spent $3,000 to get a new chimney installed. I wrote to Mr. Thompson but he has never responded to my email.
