Horrible, steer clear. Not well trained.

This is a sad story because I went through Home Depot for an AC system and got ARS as the contractors for Home Depot. When I spoke to the folks on the phone they were very polite and helpful and the price and terms of the products I got was great, they were the best deal in town. I observed, while I was reviewing them it was hard to get a hold of the person I was working with unless they called me on the phone, I almost never could reach them except when it came to close the deal, on that day they were on top of it and really did help me get my financing in place. They promised to install the unit the next day and promised a 9 am appointment. I agreed and asked them to bring a work order detailing line by line what was the work they were going to do, and they again agreed they would. I was really pleased with the deal and looking forward to my new unit and hopefully savings on my power bill. I rearranged my schedule and was prepared for the work crew the following day. This is what actually happened the next day: 1. Crew showed up at 11 am instead of 9 am. When asked what happen, no reason was given. 2. No uniforms, guys showed up in street clothes. Looked more like day-laborers that professional AC guys. 3. I asked for the work order showing the breakdown on the work to be done, they showed me an email with 3 items of the 12 requirements it should have written. 4. The lead tech guy asked me where was the unit located, I told him the attic and this look came on his face. In summary: I felt that this was a sign on things to come with this service provider, that I would be disappointed with them. I decided to refuse the work. I know this is just my experience and the crew that showed up were nice guys and respectful, but I was looking for a service provider that take care not just of the install but future service needs. I was even more shocked to know this is who Home Depot uses as contractors. No one in Home Depot contacted me to-date to learn why I did not buy from them after we had a verbal agreement, so I decided never to use them either for any in-home service in the future.

The guys who did the work were very clean. They pulled permits and passed inspection. It took three guys about 4 hours. They worked late.

It turned out fine. They are reliable and their price is competitive.

They are my new best friends. When I moved to Florida, I didn’t know who to call. We decided to just pick someone and if we were happy with them, we’d keep using them. That’s what we’ve been doing. They were nice, they were timely, and they were able to work around my schedule. I got to the point where I could call a couple of the plumbers directly to get my questions answered. They said if I wanted them to come out I had to schedule it and they told me what day they were available. I did that and it’s all been fine. I have been very happy with them. I feel like I’m dealing with someone who isn’t going to rip me off. A lot of these places will see a woman alone and then they’ll see dollar signs. These people haven’t done that. I’ll give pricing a B; I don’t like any prices.

Called the company at 10:50 A.M and the job was complete by 12:30 P.M.. I had a clogged line and The serviceman (Anthony Petersen) was prompt and efficient. Cleared the main line and everything appears to work great. Mr. Petersen was very personable, explained everything that was going on and very professional.

I had some problems with them. They have good install and professional but their back office is horrible. Their pricing is too high. They quoted me double from last year's price that I went with them.

Overall, an exceptional performance.

THe service tect, Scott W was very professional and went out of his way to help He assisted me in getting a new filter out of the attic and installed this, he spent the time needed to show me how to program the thermostat and override it when needed. He was here for a while and seem to spend the time to do a thorough inspection of our AC equipment.

They always call ahead of time and are prompt. They do great work, knowledge and friendly. Stay until the job is completed.

I would never recommend them. I was looking for what I wanted online. It averaged no more than $4,000.00. He didn't give me a size or range. He just said it would be $5400.00. I told him that I was getting estimates and doing my homework until I got the right number and deal. He looked at me and said are you for real? He said you can go anywhere else, but you get what you pay for. The manager said he over quoted me by $900.00. I'll never do business with them.

This is an awful company - steer clear! The A/C guy immediately tried to upsell me more than I needed on the basis that if the motor stopped working, then the entire unit could need to be replaced. Strange, considering the motor was supposedly not the issue. In any event, as soon as he left, the A/C stopped working again. The explanation when he returned was that his work was fine, a pipe had come loose from the unit in the garage. He only worked on the unit outside, and he had no explanation for how a pipe in the garage had come loose, coincidentally on the same day that he repaired my outside unit. He warned me again that I was jeopardizing my entire system by not letting him complete another $500 repair. The plumber charged me $800 to replace the hot water heater. Based on something I heard him say to the A/C guy, I feel pretty confident that he charged me how much he thought I would pay, rather than how much it acutally cost. When my fiance looked at the invoices, he said I was ripped off - and he does know about these things. I called the company to ask for an explanation of the A/C guy's assertion that the unit stopped working due to a loose pipe, and to complain about how I was charged for the hot water heater. I left a message for the manager, no one ever called me back. I received an automated customer service survey call, which concluded by asking if I wanted to be contacted. I said yes, no one ever called me back. Before things went south, I had signed up for their maintenance plan, because the cost of it was offset by the fact that I didn't have to pay a service call charge, guess what - they call me constantly trying to get me to schedule "maintenance." I wouldn't let this company anywhere near my property in the future. In fact, this company is the reason that I signed up for Angie's List!

In 1 year maintenance check, pointed out the need for circuit breaker protections - I felt it should have been brought up at time of installation.

Overall, everything turned out good. There weren't any problems. They came on time and got the job done.

They were above extraordinary. They were amazing. They were careful, which is important for Home Owners. They were absolutely meticulous. I couldn’t give them a higher rating.

I have used ARS for around 10 years. They do a good job and they always call before they come so I can get my dogs out of the way. I am happy with them and I will continue to use them.

They give you an appointment quickly. They are pretty close to arriving on time. They give you a window of their arrival time and usually arrive close to that time. Things are explained throughly.

We have been using them for about 4 or 5 years ago.We request Marty every time because he is the best. We are very very happy with them when Marty comes out to perform service. We have had not such good experiences with other technicians, but when Marty comes he is an A.

We've been having problems with our A/C and were told by another company's technician that our air handler needs replacing and provided us an estimate. I called ARS to test the market and they sent Tony Matta to help us determine the cost of a new system through ARS. After talking with Tony, he understood my wife and I are in a situation professionally where we may need to sell or rent our home in the next 2-3 months. When asked, Tony acknowledged he works on 100% commission- - nevertheless, he was more than happy to not only set us up an appointment for a technician to add freon to our system, he also took the time to walk us through the problems with our older system and explain to us what we may need if we end up remaining in Tampa/ renting the house/ selling the house. Tony was polite, knowledgable and didn't try selling us something we weren't looking for. Because of this, if we decide to invest in a new system, I will certainly be picking up the phone to call Tony at ARS. If you are in need of an estimate, I HIGHLY recommend asking specifically for Tony. Though he's new to ARS, he was the sales manager for the entire state of Florida for another company that folded under the stressed economy. He knows HVAC, and is respectful and genial about showing you options for improving the system in your home that are tailored to your family's specific set of circumstances. Well done Tony.
