The repair went great. Part was under warranty so all I had to pay was the advertised $49. Showed up on time and got all the usually good service that I expect from ARS. However, a few months later I get a call from an ARS supervisor wanting to know why I hadn't paid yet. I explained that the diagnosis was purchased on Angie's List and that the rest was under warranty so I didn't owe them anything. He didn't argue, but I get the feeling he was skeptical and didn't really believe me. For that reason, I knock them down to B on professionalism.

Call ARS because Heat pump fan had stopped working and steam was coming out of the compressor. I talked with ARS and decided to get a year service policy that would include todays service call for $168.00. Their tech was very prompt and arrived in less than 2 hrs and explained what had happened. ( When I found the steam coming out of the compressor , I turned the unit off. The tech said that disabled the defrost mode , and he reset it to fix my problem ).

Misdiagnosed one of the problems. Tried hard to sell me a complete new system. His price for a new system was very high compared to another contractor. I decided to get other opinions.

I was disappointed. They were punctual and polite. I think they were useless. I wanted them to check a drain to see if it was blocked. They said it was impossible to see if the drain was clogged. I wanted them to tell me how much it would cost to have a shower fixed. They told me they couldn't fix it. The man didn't even look at the drain. I paid for nothing. They wasted my time and money.

It was wonderful. It was in August. They consider that randomly. He would use some of their heater and to call the company to identify or need anything. They are very polite.
Description of Work: I used ARS / Rescue Rooter Tampa Bay – 8278 for water heater and plumbing services. They did maintenance on half hour here. He did some fixing up on the faucet and the sink. He checked for the things like the toilet and some stuffs.

Made appointment thru Home Depot representative. ARS called day before to confirm appointment, then again day of to confirm address. As time was 10am-12 noon, called me again to tell me time and employee's name, Hector Ramos, who was Technician, would arrive. On time (actually early), Hector requested concerns/complaints and did a tour of home. Was able to tell me unit installed in 1996, BTUs and advised, as unit working and not costing in electricity, he would not do turn-up as this might cause something to break since unit so old and not touched in so long. Went into attic inspecting blower and duct work, and provided pictures from Smart phone of what her saw up there. Helped re-program thermostat and provided estimates for new HVAC and duct work when needed so I could budget.. Offered to be resource for future concerns and question with Hector's cell phone number. ALL ABOVE AT NO CHARGE! Would highly recommend and use this company in future due to business methods and Level of knowledge and courtesy and professionalism of employees, like Hector.
Description of Work: Thru a Home Depot promotion, schedule a HVAC tune-up and evaluation on unit known to be not touched in at least 15 yrs/3 owners. Expected to pay $38.00 for a $89.00 service.

Our air conditioner was installed in 1985, as far as I could tell. It had recently been blowing less and less cool air and we had decided that a new air conditioner was in the not-too-distant future. We located this contractor through a salesman at a big box store. The salesman for ARS showed up on time and was very thorough, albeit perhaps a bit "pushy" about me making a committment to buy prior to getting estimates from another contractor. However, the a/c was installed at what I thought was a competitive price and they could install it the following day, so I decided to go ahead with the pruchase. The installers were very polite, professional, clean, and the job was completed in the allocated time.

Within about an hour of my initial call, John from ARS was at my house. He was able to shut off the valve. He only had one hose in his truck, so he replaced the really bad hose and will come back tomorrow (free of service charge) to replace the othe hose which was also about to burst.. He took the time to explain several things to me, including what caused the hoses to burst, that one should periodically turning the valves so they do not get stuck and how and when to turn the water off at the water main. He was polite and professional.
Description of Work: I came home from Thanksgiving Dinner to find water spraying all over my garage from behind my washing machine. The garage was flooding and water spraying everywhere. One of the hoses into the washing machine had burst and I was unable to turn the valve to shut of the water. I called for emergency plumbing service.

Had new air conditioner/heat pump installed on 07/09/12. Told us job was done on 07/09, but received call next day that they had to return to complete 4 items. They completed 3 but lacked supplies to finish and had to return again to finish. They had to return on 11/02/12 to replace temp control at which time they discovered the heat was never connected. Also discovered our Duke Energy saver unit was disconnected. Had to call Duke Energy to reconnect it. Was scheduled for appt 11/08/13 to do free routine maintenance check on unit between 10-2. At 1:45, called office where we were told there was no appt on their board. They then agreed to send a tech ASAP, before 6pm. By 2:15 they had tech on his way. This company is always very apologetic, but not very prompt.

When you have been without AC for several days in the peak heat of the summer, you are in a vulnerable state and there are many service providers will take advantage of that situation. After a bad experience with one of those types, i contacted Home Depot for an estimate and they sent ARS. I felt that while I may be quoted a higher price, I would have the resources provided by two national companies in ARS and Home Depot. The salesman came to my house the same day I called Home Depot. He was a hard seller, but I was in need of immediate help and you really can't blame a salesman for attempting to close a sale. As long as the price was not out of line and it was not out of line. I didn't have much time to comparison shop, but from what others were telling me, the price quoted was in the ballpark. Salesman did tell me he has crews standing by and could install it next day, but we had to get creative with financial arrangements and ARS worked with me on those arrangements and was very flexible. They did not install it next day because timing was to blame. But the next day, my AC problems were resolved. The technicians showed up at around 11AM and finished up at 4:30PM. I had to work from home as they were removing the old equipment and installing the new stuff. The techs were very quiet. What impressed me the most was that they were CLEAN. They laid down canvas tarps up the stairs and around the work area inside. Anything left over was cleaned up and they swept the floor wherever they were walking. We have animals and they were mindful of making sure they closed the door each time they entered or exited the house. They were professional and worked well together. There were no problems with anything about the installation. They did a perfect job of installing the new system. Once installed, everything was tested to ensure functionality. They also explained everything thoroughly and answered all of my questions satisfactorily. I cannot tell you how pleased I am about how well everything turned out. The old unit had mold in the coils and was very weak. The original heat pump was more or less thrown on the ground and hooked up very sloppily by the builder. It was also too small of a unit for the house's size. The new heat pump is the appropriate size for the house. It sits atop a hurricane rated concrete pad and is lag bolted into the slab. All the lines and wiring were put back very neatly and more efficiently than before. Very well done! About the air quality with the new unit: The air quality improved the moment the new AC came up to speed. It took less than a day for the house to cool off inside and be at the desired temperature and feel, and GONE was the musty smell! The air smells great and when I breathe in, I can honestly tell the difference. The air handler is not silent, but when it turns on you can hear a low white noise kind of sound. It is much quieter than the old unit. Not a problem for us at all. The temperature is perfect. I am so happy and relieved that I no longer have to worry about the house being hot when we come home from work and school. Everyone's happy and comfortable. ARS did a fine job. I have no complaints and I would recommend them to anyone.
Description of Work: Installed new Rheem 4 ton heat pump and 4/5 ton variable speed air handler as well as a new Thermostat, to replace the original 10 year old AC unit that just couldn't do the job anymore.

I have a 7y old propane water heater that this company installed,so the pilot of the water heater was malfunctioning so I called them.the technician was 1h late.he look to the water heater and said I may need a new one because the warranty is expired. I said that I do not believe the problem is that bad.after 45 minutes of be sitting on his truck calling the manufacture of the heater ,he gave 3 options:install new control valve and burner for $637.85, or add to that a new expansion tank for $750 or get a new heater for $1653. I ask him why a water heater is that expensive?and he said the price are going up. I sent him on his way after pay $89.90 for a diagnosis he never did. I fixed the problem with Advance Gas Work for $85 I called the company and left a message complaining about this and nobody called me back. I will report them to BBB . so be careful !!!

They have cost me a substantial amount of money repairing what they did. They brought a backhoe that took out my pool pump and took out my phone line. They also took out some other pipes and my sprinkler system.. They did offer to replace the wiring on the pool pump but I had to pay for many of the repairs. I think they should have done some looking at where other pipes would be. They did what they were supposed to do but cause a catastrophe in the process.

Their service is alright. I have used them for quite some time. However, on their last visit they said they would be here at a certain time and then did not show up. I called and asked where they were. About 5 or 10 minutes later they called to reschedule the appointment for a week later. I was surprised because this was the first time they had ever had to reschedule. In the past they have been on time and everything has been wonderful. The price is wonderful and they do good work. I will continue to use them.

I asked for an estimate for additional work when they came out to finally fix the problems they caused during my initial call. It took months to resolve the first problem and I had to contact their corporate office to get that resolved. Finally with corporate's help the first problem was fixed properly and I promised to give them future work since they made things right and I agreed to raise my score of them on Angie's List. I asked for an estimate for another problem and they never got back to me. I sent a text message and got no answer. They called to try to sell me some other service and I asked them about my original estimate that I never got and made an appointment for the plumber to come out on 4/17/13. I waited all day...took the day off work. The plumber never called. The plumber never came to the house. I will never use this company again.
Description of Work: Once again I find myself having to rate this company in a negative way. This time for another missed appointment. I cannot count the number of times they have not shown up but at least in the past they have called. This time they did not even call. I am not using them again, which they don't seem to care about since they have given me so many problems in the past. I raised my initial "D" rating because after calling corporate they finally made the repairs correctly and I promised I would continue to give them work and re-rate them on Angie's List. I have lived up to my part of the bargain but won't use them again. Twice I have asked for an estimate, as promised and twice they haven't shown up or called. I am done.

This was a very unpleasant experience overall. The installers came out later than I was told, and did not have all needed safety equipment and lifts to safely remove the unit from the garage attic. I called their office about that trying to see if someone could bring out the safety lift, but no one did. That resulted in the installers taking more time to try to disassemble as much of the unit standing on a ladder, as they could, then also standing on ladders to lift out and lower the heavy unit down. Moreover, they were missing a part, that then required someone else a couple days later to come out to replace. However, that was supposed to have been done in the early morning, but it took repeated phone calls to get someone out to finish that job, and to look at the broken part the installers did to my power box. I finally had to call their corporate office in Nashville to get someone here. I wasted my entire day off waiting for them to show up, and then it was finally around 6 pm. My time is also valuable, but apparently not to ARS. Moreover, the salesman stated he would bring me the financing paperwork and building permit back the same day of the installation, but that never happened, and repeated phone calls went unanswered from him, until once again I called their corporate offices for help. He did call finally, but said he'd been in meetings. Yet he has still never been back, and the local office just mailed them to me rather than provide good customer service by delivery of the documents as promised. They also knew I was going to be out of town. Good service by a company who have been to deliver the items, and show up timely as promised. When the technician who did finally come out to complete the work of the installation, he had to make several adjustments to the unit for correct function, and install the part the original installers didn't have with them. He was the one who also returned to repair the broken part on my power box, but that was done without my need to be present. But when he was leaving after the installation completion he said he would be my technician, gave me his card, and said just call him if I needed anything. But finding what appears to have been a problem with the thermostat (which they are supposed to come out again today to take care of), he said someone would be sent, but apparently not him. They are supposed to be here this morning. Finally, ARS permit department was supposed to have scheduled the County building inspection, and when I spoke to ARS and gave them the date I would be home, they said they would schedule it and let me know it was all set up. That was back on the 8th. Yesterday, on the 19th, I called ARS permit department, but found he was not going to be in that day. So I called the County building inspection department only to find ARS had never set up any appointment for inspection. I was fortunately able to arrange the inspection with them, when I explained I had been told by ARS it would be set up. The County building inspection department was terrific in helping out. Once again I contacted ARS corporate office to let them know that another failure by them would have caused me to waste yet another full day of waiting for this process to be completed. I received a voicemail from a local ARS person, apologizing for the failure to them to properly set the inspection and let me know it was done. No customer enjoys such a runaround from a company, and that has been a repeated conduct by them. The corporate office intervention seems to be the sole reason anything has gotten done, and offered the only sincerely apology for what has happened to me on this matter. But has anyone offered to make any adjustment for my very much wasted time. Not at all. Customer's time is valuable, and to just waste entire days is wholly unacceptable performance by any company.

The first estimate was 900. Then it was 2000. Then they complained that they were losing money on the job and wanted to charge my 92 year old father 500.00 for putting a 29.00 alarm on the sump pump they put in. They took a month just to dig a hole. Complaining every day about how hard the work was and how they weren't making enough money. Every week it was something new to try to extort money from my elderly father.
Description of Work: After talking to the home offce and the plumber and his supervisor we were able to resolve this issue. I would now recommend them for future use.
