We were told to call in a couple days so he had a chance to diagnose it. we did and to our surprise he told us that the video card was bad and that we needed to reinstall windows. my husband has talked to him originally that day and then relayed the message to me. But both my husband and I had our doubts. we had never heard of video cards going bad causing this issue. As I said we are not experts but we are not stupid either. I called the man myself because I wanted to have the "expert" explain things to me. he was abrasive from the minute he picked up the phone. it was a very short conversation that ended with him saying "I will be in the field for the next hour thank you" and he hung up on me without explaining anything. I fumed for a minute but waited an hour and a half and called back. this time he was starting to get attitude but as soon as i asked who i was speaking to he calmed down and explained the diagnosis to me. so my husband goes to pick up the computer a couple days later and the guy (rick) was perfectly nice to my husband. he started the computer and it was at the same point it was when we had dropped it off. (not wanting to get into the OS) My husband was a bit frustrated at this but he took what the guy was saying and paid him the diagnostic fee and took the computer home. Because my husband isn't a complete novice with computers when he got it home he reinstalled windows by booting from the cd drive instead of the hard drive. Fortunately this worked and he was able to reinstall windows. when we finally got into windows we checked to see if with the video card out it was reading the memory card slot which was the original problem. It wasn't. so i told my husband just on a hunch lets put the video card in and see if it works. because Rick had told us the computer would not even start up with the video card in it. he was wrong. it started up just fine. still no memory card slot. the next day, today actually, i called him and explained that i was unhappy because the video card is working just fine. the memory card slot is not. and i quite simply would like the $35.00 back because i paid that fee for a diagnosis and i did not get one. he told me to bring the computer back and he would show me its working and i told him i do not want to bring it back i would like my money back and to be done with it. at this point he started screaming at me about how he does not want us as customers and how we have been a pain in the a** the whole time and called me a F***ing C**t and then hung up on me. I have never been spoken to this way in my life and i would never take any computer back to him. I wish i had read his review on Angie's list first. please do not think of taking your computer to this man. He is Horrible
Description of Work: My husbands gaming computer had started having a problem with reading one of the memory slots and while trying to investigate to figure out the problem it started looping and wouldn't get into the OS. We naturally thought that it was probably the motherboard but since we aren't professionals we wanted to get the opinion of one. I looked for different computer repair people in the area and talked to a few of them Rick at Abacus Computer Repair was the last one I spoke with and he seemed very nice and his price was reasonable. We set up the day to take the computer to him and when we dropped it off he was again very nice and professional.

He kept two of my computer monitors he took to his office to run a diagnostic, and was unwilling to return them. He also called me numerous times yelling and screaming, once at 4 a.m. I had to file a police report. Stay away from this guy and his company.
Description of Work: Rick's assignment was to set-up a simple network with four computers. He initially had it working, but only for a few hours. He would not return to complete work.
