I therefore used Lykes Drywall-very professional, significantly cheaper and a pleasure to work with.
Description of Work: Was recommended, but very expensive about 50% more expensive than the others. When I mentioned this to him, he was indignant.

I sent an email with three picture attachments of the worst and quot;ground settelmentand quot; cracks and asked if they also filled holes where pictures and window treatment hardware was attached. A couple of days later Mark Lee, the owner of Gator Drywall, met me at my mothers, looked over the cracks and gave me a price. I then asked if he knew of good painters and he said his company also painted. The next day his head painter (and job boss) stopped by the house and that night Mr. Lee emailed me the price for the exterior pressure washing and painting. I returned the email indicating a go ahead, but I wanted a contract indicating what they were going to do and the cost. The following week work began. Five work days later everything was completed - it took an extra day because the plaster on a couple of the more severe cracks did not dry for final sanding. I shook the hand of the job boss, thanked him for the good work ( and a couple of extras that were thrown in) and said I would recommend Gator Drywall to anyone in northeast Florida. The check was written for the original agreed upon price.
Description of Work: Situation: I am preparing my elderly mother's 50 year old block home for sale as she has moved to a nursing home. Issue: There was ground settlement problems that caused fairly severe cracks in the drywall. The settlement problems were corrected in Dec. 2009 using an engineering company that stabilized the home foundation using helical screws. The home was completely pressure washed along with the front porch, carport, driveway, and front sidewalks using a commercial grade 4000 lb. washer. The exterior was painted using an "elastomeric" type of paint (strechy) because it fills the minor cracks in the mortor that were not chisled out and re-filled during the stabilization process. By this time, I had enough furniture out of the home the drywall crew could get to work. They taped the severe cracks, filled all holes created where pictures were hung and window treatment hardware was mounted. Most impressive was two cracks that were in the ceiling which had a "crow's-foot" pattern impressed in it which they matched perfectly.
