My experience with Major Tree Service is very similar to the review dated October 28, 2013. In fact I copied, pasted and edited it due to its similarity. Mr. Major came to my door unsolicited and represented that he was fully licensed and insured tree cutting service and noticed that the large live oak tree behind my house needed the branches that were above my roof needed to be cut back. He then went around the back yard with me detailing all of the clearing work he was going to do. He kept assuring me that he would do a good, professional job, and that he was very thorough and everything would be done as he described. To keep the cost low, he said he would have all of the trimmed limbs placed at the curb for the garbage service to haul away, instead of paying him to haul them away. Before the work was completed, Mr. Major advised me that there was a problem in that his tree cutter crewman had noticed a large tree branch that would be more involved to cut and remove than he thought at first, he asked me if I could add another $200.00 to remove this extra large limb. He also pointed out the remainder of work left to be done, and gave repeated assurances that this was all being taken care of and he just needed me to sign off on his work sheet. Before he had completed the project, he asked that I write him a check so that he could go cash it at Amscot and pay the cutting crew. It was Super Bowl Sunday and it seemed there was suddenly an urgency to wrap things up. Almost immediately after he returned from cashing the check he pulled his crew off the job and drove away. When I realized they were leaving I went out to check the back yard. It appeared he had cut most of the larger branches, but there seemed to be many smaller branches that should have been cut. Also, later on I found a pile of cut branches still sitting in my backyard. About half of the branches had been taken to the curb, but in addition to the pile, I keep finding cut or fallen branches on the ground beneath the tree, In summary, I would say Major Tree Service was a major disappointment.

Provider came to my door unsolicited and represented that he was an expert in tree cutting and advised me that I was going to have problems with my homeowners insurance if I did not cut back the branches on a tree that were above my roof. He then went around the back yard with me detailing all of the clearing work he was going to do. He kept assuring me that he would do a good, professional job, that he had done work for my neighbor two doors down and that she was extremely pleased with him, and that he was very thorough and everything would be done as he described and everything would be hauled away. Before the work was completed, Mr. Major advised me that there was a problem in that he spoke too soon and that the tree that he had cut back was more involved than he thought at first, and that, even though he had already done the work on that tree, he was going to have to charge me another $250.00. He also pointed out the remainder of work left to be done, and gave repeated assurances that this was all being taken care of and he just needed me to sign off on his work sheet and to write him a check including the additional amount. Given that there was significant amount of work remaining to be done, and it clearly was not going to be done unless I agreed to the additional $250.00 and to sign and pay right then, I signed and paid. I was not happy about this, but I needed the work to be completed and did not want to be in the position of having to find someone else to come out and complete the job, which was my only other alternative. Almost immediately after getting the check and the signed off worksheet, he pulled his crew off the job and drove away. When I realized they were leaving I went out to check the back yard. There was a huge pile of cut branches and debris still sitting on my roof, there was another large pile of cut branches on the ground beneath the tree, another rain tree was left untouched, and the bird of paradise he was going to clean up and remove the vines from was still covered in dead vines. I contacted him on the phone that day and he apologized profusely and said he would come back out in two days and take care of all that. When he didn't show on the day promised, I called him again. This time he said he'd need a week before he could come back. But that he would come out on the following Sunday. When he didn't appear this time, I called again and got another date. When, on the last date, (all of which dates were chosen by Mr. Major), he did not appear, I called again. This time I just got voice mail. I left a message advising him that I was very upset and thought he was a man of his word. In fact, he had made a point of emphasizing during the sale that he was a man of his word. I said, at this point, I feel like that was in serious question and that he had until 5:00 the next day to come back and finish the job as promised or I was going to have to hire someone else to come out and do it, and charge him for the difference. I received no response. It has now been more than a week since I left the voice mail. Mr. Major is extremely personable, charming even, and a fast talker. He invoked all means of instilling trust and reliability and then, after getting paid more than the amount agreed upon, walked off the job. He then gave additional assurances of coming back out, never did, and then stopped taking my call. It was an extremely discouraging experience in that a big part of the reason I agreed to hire him in the first place is because he seemed to be very conscientious and thorough and to take pride in his work. Instead, I am left with a very bad feeling about human nature, and out several hundred dollars more for having to hire someone else to complete the job.

That was pretty good. They failed on one slight piece of work. That's the reason I wouldn't give them an "A." As far as timing was concerned, they met their dates and all of that. We have a lot of oak trees and they were overhanging the house to the point where I was concerned. I'm glad they came by because they managed to trim some tree limbs back and dispose of the limbs that they cut. That was their main task. It was tree trimming large tree limbs. The timing and the quality of work were good. They had committed to come back and trim a few prawns off of a palm tree. They forgot to do that.
Description of Work: I have used Major Tree Service. They trimmed trees.

He and his Crew were simply amazing in their precision cutting of seven huge and potentially dangerous eucalyptus trees 50 and more feet high - with virtually no collateral damage and very swift and thorough clean up. In my experience, Mike was not only honest and direct he was also substantially less costly than the competition (almost %50.00 less) but completely professional. I thoroughly recommend Mike as a reliable and competent tree removal specialist.
Description of Work: I have just had a second job of multi tree removal by Mike Major and his Crew completed here in Kissimmee Fl.
