David and Jerry arrived on schedule and were professional throughout the service of my irrigation system and addressed all my concerns. They told me of any issues and addressed replacement parts as we went through the inspection of our entire system. David also told informed my how often I should inspect the system myself, and showed me how, to ensure maximum efficiency. + -1 moreDid not arrive on on time as scheduled prime to prep and work requested; gave one estimate but invoice received days later incorrectly noted work done and outrageous price. Calls to company several times requesting explanation of invoice went unanswered. Letter to company also went unanswered after no communicable response. All this after payment was made to a Yankee Clipper as billed. Our trust and faith to this company (since 2008) broken. Our belief is that this company whose mission statement is “small town mom and pop business promising customers treated as family” was in fact more focused on becoming large enterprises motivated by greed.
Description of Work: Cap and move one sprinkler head. Trench dig new route, lay pvc pipe, raise sprinkler head, all for 10 foot extension to back porch for 20 foot extension.

+ -1 moreThe work was fine, but they are extremely expensive by our standards here. It wasn't $100's of dollars, it was $1,000's. My main problem with them was the cost. Everything else was fine. When you pay over what you think you should have, for something, it makes you think about it. It was way too high. Their quality was fine. They cost too much money.

+ 0 moreAs described above, the work went very well and I would recommend Yankee Clipper.
Description of Work: I hired Yankee Clipper to revamp my lawn irrigation system and was pleased with the work. When the gave me a good price on sod and installation I also had them do that work. Their estimate on the number of pallets needed was low so I had to pay for an extra pallet to get the job finished. Although the price of the extra pallet was a little high they let me apply the 10 percent Angie's List coupon discount to both the irrigation work and the sod installation. They have also been back once to tweak the irrigation system and add sprinkler heads at no additional charge. They came back another time with no charge to help me with sprinkler adjustments. They workers are all business when on the job and, since labor is paid by the hour, this is a plus. Charlie Benniger, his wife, Judy, and all members of the crew are professional, courteous and customer-focused. I would recommend Yankee Clipper most highly.

+ -1 moreWe were having trouble getting another company we had used in the past to return our calls so we found Yankee Clipper on Angie’s List. We knew we needed a new irrigation pump. We had also been told our well was collapsing and we would need to drill a new well. Charlie came out to see us the day after we called. He installed a new pump. Also, he determined one of our zones was leaking which was the reason our well was having problems. Previous company did not take the time (or maybe have the expertise) to look beyond sand in the pump. Our system is now working and we don’t need to pay to drill a new well.
Description of Work: Replace irrigation pump. Also, we had been told our well was collapsing and we needed a new well.

+ -1 moreI came to st. augustine from my home in NC to get my parents house ready for sale, after moving them into an independent living facility in North Carolina. The lawn and sprinkler system had been very neglected, and my father had modified (jerry-rigged) parts of it. Charlie (owner) was responsive to my calls - unlike other irrigation system companies. He came out to meet with me and was very professional, and great to deal with. Within a couple days, he had guys out there repairing system and replacing broken heads, replaced timer, running new wire, rewiring valves, ..... Extensive repairs, Hours of hard work - I saw it all myself. His men are great workers and very polite and professional. Got the whole system up and running. Very happy with how the system is functioning. Next, they will be putting in sod this coming week. Will keep you posted on that as well. Anticipate it will be wonderful, as their service has been.

+ -1 moreI have been dealing with them since November and we finished up the job in February. Everything has gone very well. They have been very punctual and available. I have worked closely with the owner, Charlie, the whole time. They may be more on the pricier end, but I think sometimes you get what you pay for. I chose a more pricy outfit because they do good work. There was a pump on my property where they calculated the amount of water that was available for the amount of land I needed to irrigate. They did the design work and installation. Everything has worked out great and is getting water very well.

+ -1 moreWe called Charlie (owner) to get an estimate and he was able to come out that day. He came out and assessed the system and gave an estimate for the front yard. He told us when the work could be done (next day). We agreed and the next day someone was there on time and the work was completed. That is when we decide to see about the addition of the back yard. Charlie came back out and gave an estimate and told us he would have to get back with us on scheduling if we decided to go with the work. In a nutshell, everything they said they would do, they did. The workmanship is great and the equipment they use is top notch. I would definitely call them again for any sprinker installation or repairs.
Description of Work: Completely overhauled (extensive) our sprinkler system that had not been in use for a couple of years in the front yard and added on to two stations to cover the back yard.

His two associates arrived promptly on the day on which the work had been scheduled, worked at a furious pace in extreme heat for hours at a time, and completed the project one workday later. When, through no fault of his workmen, minor problems appeared in the system several days later, they returned and completed the project at no additional charge. At all times they were friendly, helpful, and very anxious to please. When we received our bill, it was very fair and reasonable. The total cost was within two hundred dollars of the original estimate. The increased cost was based on improvements to our system that we had requested and approved after the original estimate had been made. To our pleasant surprise, we were given a 10-percent additional discount because we had mentioned to Charlie that Yankee Clipper had been recommended to us through Angie's List. Yankee Clipper Irrigation Service provided the best, most efficient, and most honest service of any contractor with whom we have dealt during our 12-year residence in St. Augustine.
Description of Work: Charles Binninger of Yankee Clipper Irrigation Service provided an estimate of the materials required and the level of effort needed to restore an "orphan" irrigation system nearly 35 years old and non-functioning for the past few years. Rather than try to sell us a new and expanded system, Charlie honored our request to merely upgrade the current defunct system. He quickly and precisely estimated how many rotating sprinklers would be required, the best type, and their optimum placement. Where necessary, he determined the placement of several additional sprinklers to cover areas of our lawns and gardens that were being neglected by the original system. He guaranteed his work, asked for no payment until the entire project had been completed and approved by us, and was pleased that we offered to recommend Yankee Clipper to others if we were satisfied with his work. It quickly became obvious that he was more interested in the quality of the work and in pleasing us than he was in making a quick profit. His cost estimate, incidentally, was a fraction of other estimates that we had received.
