The Computer Tutor

Scott Johnson, The Computer Tudor, did an outstanding job. He came to my house and checked everything out, and then took both computers. The next business day he returned, and had everything set up. He explained how to use the new computer, and had me use FireFox instead of the outdated MSN Prime. He also set up my new router and reinstalled my printer. Even though I had to learn a few things, the new setup is much easier to use than the way it was before.

It went very well. Within 24 hours he replaced the old hard drive with a solid state hard drive at a reasonable cost. He explained the advantages of a solid state drive, and explained my options of replace versus repair.

Work completed in good order. Scott or his staff are available when I've called. Much of the work can be done remotely, so I didn't have to leave the house. He offers good suggestions regarding my laptop and. He sends a Weekly newsletter with computer tips which I've found helpful. I have used his services for various problems since 2016.

Excellent response time. Scott is knowledgeable and offers tips to make computuing easier and faster. Software work can be done remotely; that process went equally as well.

The computer Tutor handles all my computer servicing needs, as far as back ups, maintenance, virus protection and software selection. Scott has went as far as helping me select computers and advises as to which system would be best for my business. I am also on his email list which he sends out weekly with tips and advice.

All of a sudden, my normally reliable laptop went blank (appearing to have no power to the screen). I tried to power down and reboot, but wasn't able to do so. Fearing something major had gone wrong, I started thinking of a new device, Instead, I found Scott at The Computer Tutor and he determined that the computer had gone into the sleep mode and would not emerge. He fixed the computer in a matter of moments and showed me how to do so if the problem occurred again. (it hasn't.) What is more, he charged me nothing for the visit. Obviously, I would recommend him. He is knowledgeable and nice guy.

My compter was not allowing me to type more then two or three characters at a time then it would lock up. I found Scott on Angie's List and he came over and that was the best thing I did. He remedy the problem right away. I will certainly have him back.

Scott arrived on time and was prepared to begin work. He was excellent in explaining what he was doing and what he suspected the problem(s) could be. If you are looking for someone with a lot of patience to clearly explain things, he is the man for you! He did have to take the computer back to his office. We received daily updates on his progress. He was very sensitive to the possibility of loosing data and was diligent that the work proceeded in a safe and logical manner. All repairs were made within the time frame we had, and the computer was completely reinstalled and tested before he left. Nobody is better equipped to be of service with computer issues than Scott. He always responds in a timely manner; you are NEVER left waiting. He always has a solution to the problem and fixes it the FIRST time. He educates and even has a blog with ongoing tips, tidbits and how to's for the customer if they are interested in learning some things for themselves. A fun read. He offers remote access as well as home service. He fixed the problem immediately.

Scott warned us that some maleware could still be hiding on the all-in-one and could reappear. The solution to that would be to wipe the computer clear and reinstall Windows. That was just what happened, so we called him the next day and brought the computer to his home. He cleared it, reinstalled Windows, plus installed Microsoft Office and a number of other programs including the anti-malware program. After we had the computer back, we had trouble getting the printer to work. Scott was able to take over the computer remotely and get everything working. Scott is very knowledgeable as well as very patient. It is wonderful to know that help is only a phone call away! We had a great experience with Scott and intend to work with him again when we buy a new laptop or encounter other problems with the all-in-one. We highly recommend him.

I called The Computer Tutor on Saturday and spoke with Scott. After a brief conversation I brought the pc to his business which is located in his home. My pc would simply not turn on at all. The next day (on Sunday) he called and told me that the problem was fixed. I picked up the pc and Scott told me that there was some sort of mechanical issue with the power switch that apparently just needed a minor adjustment. Scott didn't want to charge anything for the repair, however I didn't feel that was right so I gave him a tip for his excellent service.

I was having problems using the internet with several windows opening automatically without my control during every session. There were many pop up ads and constant messages that Internet Explorer had an error and had to close. This began about a few weeks ago after I agreed to Update a media player from a website I had opened. I called Scott and he said it sounded more like malware than a virus. He said that he could try to fix the problem remotely so I would not have to bring my computer to his office. He sent me an e-mail with a link to download the remote entry application. It was very easy to do and place the application on my desktop. Scott called me on the appointment hour and proceeded to check my system and internet settings. He uninstalled suspicious programs and installed Malware Bytes and a free Microsoft virus protection. Scott was very professional and knowledgeable and answered all my questions and gave excellent advice on backups and internet use. I will keep him in my favorites file in case I need computer help again.

Scott is extremely honest. He does not do anything that is not needed and goes out of his way to ensure everything is taken care of for you. He is very patient and does a great job.

I dropped off the computer at Scott's location in Safety Harbor at about 2:00 pm. I received a call approximately at 9:00pm telling me that the computer was ready to be picked up. Scott arrived right on time and came in, assessed the situation, answered many, many questions by us with utmost patience, and went to work, taking care of business. He was so efficient and knowledgeable! We were very impressed with his knowledge and capability. He suggested other things to us that we were unaware of and that were very helpful to us. First I had called the Geek Squad at Best Buy, and they said they'd have to send the computer out and it would likely be about 1-2 months that I'd be without my computer, so I decided to look elsewhere. When I talked to Scott Johnson (Computer Tutor), he diagnosed the problem over the phone, decided it would need a new keypad, and went ahead and ordered the part. It took less than a week for the part to come in and he called me right away. I headed over there to drop off the computer for repair and it took less than half an hour. It works perfectly fine now. He works out of his home, so I was a little worried about stopping by a strangers place with two young girls in tow, but it's a nice place on a fairly busy road and he's a clean cut gentleman. I even got a handwritten thank you note for my business. I won't be calling anyone else for computer repairs from now on.

Scott was easy to reach, very knowledgeable about the issue and repaired it in within a few days. He made certain the data transferred completely and was back in the format we were accustomed to seeing. I would highly recommend his services.

I contacted Scott to help with a computer virus I had picked up through a free download of Winrar on the internet. He arranged an appointment for the following day and was able to access my computer remotely. I sat in front of the computer watching while he worked his magic and within a very short time, the problem was solved. He also cleaned up other minor issues that he noticed during the virus removal and then did a full scan to complete the process. His service is very thorough and he has tremendous knowledge of computer issues. I always get more service from Scott than I hire him for.
