Mike did an excellent job with this kitchen back splash installation. This is the second job he has done for us. It took a day and a half to layout and install the tiles, then a couple hours on the third day to grout the job. Excellent cleanup each day. Well priced and competitive and just as importantly the same great quality we experienced in the previous work he has done for us. I highly recommend this highly talented and skilled provider of tile services.
Description of Work: Installed Kitchen Backsplash of 4x4 tumbled travertine in a diagonal pattern.

The job went great! While not necessarily the fastest, he did adhere to the schedule he provided. I interviewed 5 other tile service providers and ended up selecting Michael of Construction Finish Trades (CFT) based on the quality of work I saw him providing in the neighborhood. The marble and travertine work I saw was phenonenal and top quality. Since we had so much tile work to be done we wanted to ensure we hired someone that had demonstrated great quality and attention to detail. It was worth paying a bit more and waiting awhile to get Michael to do our work. The job incorporated a lot of work in addition to just laying the tile. The stud walls were not straight, but he made them so. The roman tub surround and the large window sill were deteriorated but he rebuilt to better than original. This type work he charged separately at a flat rate which I had agreed to up front. He installed cement board and also applied a waterproofing membrane (RedGard) to all wet areas. The prep work was outstanding. He was very flexible in doing whatever needed to be done and worked around other trades as needed.. Then came the tile work and this is where thier attention to detail and creativity proved to be worth every dime he charged. The wrapped corners and shelves set in the showers came out great. To look in a corner and have the tile appear to be a solid tile was a detail that I didn't expect. It took us awhile to come up with a listello as we just didn't want a line around the stalls dividing the top and bottom of the tile walls. Mike finally led us to a solution incorporating the smaller 6x6 tile of the same design installed on the diagonal. Using the different tile sizes gave us a look we very much liked without going too bold. I guess we're pretty boring. This was the first of multiple projects we will be doing with Michael. I can't recommend him enough. While not currently listed on Angie's List he should be. Update: I have had 2 different glass shower companies come in recent days and both were very complimentary of the quality of the tile enclosure work that was done. One mentioned several times that the quality looked like it was all lined up using laser leveling. The walls were perfectly vertical and square, the grout lines were straight and vertical. The tile wall conditions allowed them to get glass that was squared off with no compensation required to accommodate any lesser precision on the tile walls.
Description of Work: Michael and Eric provided very professional tile services to fully remodel two walk--in showers, a master roman bath tub surround and finally a traditional tub surround. The walk-ins were floor-to-ceiling at about a 9' height. I provided separately purchased tile, grout and other materials. Mike's consulting led us to a simple design incorporating multiple sizes of the same tile. 12x24 tiles installed vertically on the shower and surround walls. Listello was made from 6x6 tiles on the diagonal and the roman tub surround was done in 12x12 on the diagonal.
