Job was completed as described and I was very pleased with this company. They had the best estimate of the 3 companies I was considering and they were the closest to my home. Showed up on time, and the work looked very clean and professional. The sales rep that sold me the unit was not as pushy as other companies and seemed the most trustworthy.
Description of Work: They installed a new air handler and 14 Seer Trane Unit. Installed new hurricane pad and Thermostat in my 2500 SQ ft house.

Everything has gone well. They do the routine repair annually, and they have been very fair with their warranty. They had to completely replace one air handler, and worked with the manufacture to get a good price. I have been happy with them overall.

They were very, very good. I would give them the highest recommendation. They were just excellent. I did interview a number of other places, and I felt that some of these other companies tried to pad the job with things that were not necessary, so I feel that this company saved me a significant amount of money.
Description of Work: They re-designed the air duct system in the attic and they installed two new cold air return and distribution centers. They replaced the air handler in the attack and the central air unit outside with the largest sized unit that they have.

I was called 15 minutes in advance of the technician's arrival and he arrived on schedule. Jared, the technician was quite knowledgeable, professional, courteous, and very pleasant. During this annual maintenance checkup, Jared found that the heat-strips had not been hooked by the installer and not corrected by other technicians. He thoroughly checked that the air handler unit, which is in an upstair attic, was functioning correctly and that the condenser was in good operating condition. He injected fluid in the handler unit to ensure proper drainage outside.
Description of Work: Basic Annual Maintenance included check of refrigerant, condenser coils, filters, belts, drain line and pan, motors and bearings, and overall operation of heating and cooling levels. Also checked safety devices.

They were in and out in just two days (as promised). They cleaned and vacuumed almost all of their messes from the insulation. They even did some extra smaller things for me that were unrelated to the duct work. When one of the workers was in the kitchen caulking a vent, I asked if he could caulk around my sink and he did. The service manager sent an evaluation over to me after they were done and asked me to fill it out to make sure they were doing their jobs correctly. I gave them great grades. They were very courteous and did great work.

After installation I discovered that the Clean Effects Filter I had purchased was not on my unit and 1 of 3 extra vents were not installed, a slightly larger vent was installed instead. I called the Salesman that wrote the estimate to ask why. He explained that the brochures he used to sell me the equipment were outdated and the "Manual" Allergy filter and Electronic Grid installed were replacing the "Automatic" Clean Effects Filter which had a Power Opening Feature, Washable Pre-Filter, Cleanable Allergy Filter, Electronic Grid, as well as a Filter Monitoring Feature. He said that the "Manual" Filters they installed were actually a better filter system and costs more. This was not true. He also said that the 3rd room was to have a larger vent instead of adding a vent. Not true. When I called the company and complained, they eventually agreed that they made a mistake and reinstalled both items. The Clean Effects Filter had actually been recalled. The salesman was wrong in what he did.
Description of Work: Installed new Trane 19i Air Conditioner with 3 Ton 19 Seer Condenser, 3.5 Ton Variable Speed Air Handler R-22, 5KW Heater, H/P Programmable digital Stat, Trane Clean Effects Air Filter, and Installed 3 new air lines to 3 separate rooms. The equipment was installed quickly. Old equipment was hauled off and installers cleaned up after themselves.

Burgess installed an AC compressor unit through Home Depot in the summer of 2005. They did not install the air handler, but connected the compressor to the air handler unit. They did not test the system -as the heat did not function properly after they left. 11/05 -call was made for follow up. The service man took over 3 hours (made me late for work) to figure out that he had to tighten a wire connection on the control circuit. The system was then working properly. The tech charged for a diagnostic service call and was paid by check. Now, we just received an invoice in the mail (9 mo later) stating we owe more money ($107) for a part that was never installed. The original invoice never referenced an installed part and the new bill shows a different invoice number?? This company clearly does not have a handle on their customer service or AP dept. A letter will be going out with a copy of our canceled check and original invoice. We will not do business with this firm again.
Description of Work: Summer 2005-Burgess installed an AC compressor unit through Home Depot. November 2005- Service was called for inoperable heating system which worked prior to the installation of the compressor unit. Tech had to simply tighten a wire on the control circuit which took over 3 hours to complete. The service call resolved the issue.

This company was excellent from start to finish; from estimate given by Mike Porcelli, to completion, including payment arrangement. The price included concrete pad with hurricane straps and any electrical work, and they took care of obtaining the permit. AND we received a $350 energy credit from Progress Energy, and Burgess made the arrangements for that too! The crew showed up at the appointed time and finished within 30 minutes of the installation time estimate. They were courteous and cleaned up everything.
Description of Work: We are about to use this company again for our condo. Replaced our 20+ year old system with a High Efficiency Trane 3 ton 14 Seer Condenser and Air Handler, 5 KW Heater and Digital Thermostat. System warranty is 1 year labor & refrigerant; 5 years on parts; 10 years condenser and compressor coils (many others only go 5 years on the latter). The system was retrofitted to existing duct work, refrigerant piping, and electrical service. The condenser was installed on a concrete pad provided by Burgess. Price included removal and hauling of the old units.

Overal it was a really good experience. Unfortunately we got a repair tech instead of a maintenance tech. We didn't know there was a difference. The repair tech said everything was working fine and was ready to leave. I asked him about the maintenance and he explained that was another department but agreed to go to our attic and check the pan. He did some preventative work when he got up there.
Description of Work: We wanted to get maintenance done and the ac did not cool down 2 days in a row which also had us worried.

I had a great experience dealing with Jim. He was prompt and very pleasant, especially for a Saturday morning. He was able to explain everything in detail and answered my many questions. He did tell me that Burgess might not be the cheapest, but you get what you pay for. I would recommend this company to friends and took business cards so I could do just that!
Description of Work: I received a quote for a new compressor and air handler this morning from Jim W. He quoted me with 4 different model options to go with. He was very knowledgeable on how to be more energy efficient with what we have. He recommended not replacing our duct work as he said it looked as if was in good shape. Although he did say that if Progress Energy did a duct inspection, if I saved my report, his company would repair any damage.

This company expertly completed a job at a rental property last year. I rehired them to evaluate and resolve the air condition problem in my home. They responded rapidly to this urgent situation. The workers arrived on schedule and then cleanly and professionally removed the old unit and installed the new one. The estimator was very helpful in choosing the correct unit for our needs and making sure he documented everything that the workers would need to complete the job in one day.

WORKING WITH BURGESS AND RICK MURPHY WAS A MOST PLEASANT EXPERIENCE. THEIR WORKMEN WERE PROMPT COURTEOUS AND NEAT. THE AIR HANDLER HAD TO BE PUT IN THE GARAGE AND IT IS A WORK OF ART. THE PEOPLE FROM THE PERSON ANSWERING THE PHONE, THE SALESMAN AND THE TECHS ARE ALL VERY PLEASANT TO DEAL WITH. I NORMALLY USE BURGESS BECAUSE IT'S ONE COMPANY I FEEL I CAN TRUST. I HAD TO USE ANOTHER COMPANY THOUGH WHEN MY AIR WENT OUT AND BURGESS COULD NOT MAKE IT OUT PROMPTLY. THE OTHER COMPANY (CHOSEN OUT OF THE PHONE BOOK) CHARGED ME $450 TO REPLACE THE ACCUMULATOR. THEN USING A HANDHELD FREON CHECKER SHOWED ME THAT I HAD A LEAK IN THE COIL AND SAID I NEEDED A NEW UNIT. I GOT AN ESTIMATE ON THE NEW UNIT FROM THEM AND AGREED TO PAY THEM ONLY $200 AS THE UNIT WAS STILL NOT FIXED. NEXT TIME I 'LL WAIT FOR BURGESS.
