I was having issues with my central unit and air handler. The system was over 10 years old and Burgess had serviced it a few times -- most of my issue was that water was backing up the drain lines and filling the drip pan, shutting off the system. They recommended I install a new unit and air handler to address the issue. I went ahead and did so. Since then I have had to have them come out 3 times to address issues with it. The first two times the air handler froze over. The first time, a valve stuck in place and they had to replace it. I was without air conditioning for over a week because they only do service calls during working hours and I couldn't get off work. I finally had to leave my house unlocked and let them service everything while I was away from home. The second time they couldn't figure out what was wrong with the system. Yesterday, I poured bleach down the drain lines as they instructed me and the lines backed up, once again shutting off my central unit. I called twice last night with no response, then sent an email. I called again this morning -- no response. They responded to my email with a phone call but I couldn't answer the phone at work, so when I called back it went straight to voicemail. No response. I called again a couple of hours later and they claimed they never received the voicemail, then told me that they couldn't schedule an appointment for me today. The first time they can come is between 11-3 tomorrow, so there won't be air conditioning in my house tonight, and I'll be missing work tomorrow. It's also going to cost me an additional $100 to get this thing looked at since it was installed 4 months ago and there's only a 90 day guarantee on the drain lines.

Long time customer that purchased a $10,000 unit from Burgess in late 2014. Called several times before reaching a service rep to schedule appointment. Tech arrived late in time window and I showed him where everything was and made a few requests---one of which was to make sure drain line was clear by vacuuming or purging. He said I would have to pay extra for that if I wanted it done. I pointed out that every company and tech I have ever used made sure the line was clear but he said it wasn't part of the service, which was more expensive than most. I told him I would purge it myself. After rushing through the service, I found out he couldn't set the filter reminder on the thermostat they sold me. After leaving I heard a whistling noise from the air handler and realized there was air leaking out the side of the unit. Called Burgess the next day and left messages for service which were not returned so I called to I got someone. Scheduled call for the next day and the tech fixed the leak and set the thermostat. I cleaned the drain line and found it to be full of "junk". Very disappointed in the change of service quality over the past few years and the quality and demeanor of the techs. I might add that I have referred six customers to Burgess over the years........ In fairness, I will give them another opportunity to service the unit before going to another Trane dealer; but I expect to be treated professionally and be given the consideration I am paying for. Received phone call from GM who extended an apology for the misunderstanding and assured me that they took my concerns under advisement. I appreciate the call and look forward to continuing my relationship with Burgess.

Kevin and Chuck installed my new 2.5 ton Trane AC. They were both courteous and efficient. They took the time to explain how the system worked and answered my questions. They cleaned up after themselves and left no mess at all. The system works great. This is my second Trane installed by Burgess. My first one was 12 years ago. They are a wonderful company. I would not use anyone else.

We could not ask for better service. The evaporator coil was under a Trane warranty. Parts (other than the evaporator coil) and labor were not under warranty. Burgess installed this unit in June, 2005, and have provided service ever since. Their service is top notch. Their technicians are knowledgeable and extremely courteous. The office staff is excellent. Burgess has always responded in a timely manner to any service requests. We could go on; but, suffice to say, we would not use any other company for the services that they provide.

Burgess air was able to provide same day service and was timely and professional. We called them for a second opinion after another AC company told us we needed a new AC coil, which would cost about $3,000. Burgess looked at the unit and said the issue was actually a leak in another part of the AC, and no freon in the unit. They were able to repair it for $750 and the house has been cool ever since. I really appreciate how knowledgeable and honest they were. I would highly recommend them.

Burgess installed our current system 3 years ago, and we also purchased the extended service coverage. Since then we have had multiple problems with the system, and Burgess has been very attentive in fixing all of them. There is one tech we have seen more than others. I'm not sure if it's appropriate to name him in this review, but "J" has been nothing but friendly and prompt while taking the extra steps to make sure everything is working properly. It definitely makes sense to go with the extended coverage because these systems do take quite a beating in the hot and muggy Florida climate.

Install went fine. System loud when initially kicks on. I have called in 4 times now in 2 months since install. Drain pan is filling and the emergency shut off stops system. That is about all that works on the system. My salesman, RICK, has never returned my calls. I asked for the OWNER to call, he has never returned my calls. The first repairman said he needed to put tape on a place of the draining pipe and that would fix it. It did not. 2nd call a few weeks later, pan full again....repairman said he needed to spray something on the drain pipe leaving the house....that would fix it. It did not. Third call, call about how noisy system is....part ordered to quiet start up. Forth call, last night, came home, system off, house 83 degrees, I checked pan, full of water again. Repairman said drain pipe is going up hill and stopping it from draining. He raised drain pipe a little. Guess we will see if this works. Will update site in a few weeks if no further problems. Thanks Burgess for the return phone calls and great customer service. Of course, system sold.....their job is done huh? Very dissatisfied customer.

Thank goodness for Burgess! We have a home warranty (with a $75 copay) and we were first referred to another company when our a/c stopped cooling. They called to schedule an appt for two and a half days later! OMG!! I reminded them that we are in Florida! Called back the warranty company and requested another referral to a different company. They gave me Burgess who came out the same day. They called when they were 20 minutes out so we didn't have to wait at home for 4 hours. Showed up on time, completed the job and gave us a thorough explanation of what was going on. A/C is working great!

THIS SERVICE TECH WAS unprofessional in the comments he made, underhanded in reporting to my condo office something that was NOT in his area, and has earned the BLACK MARK OF SHAME in my book!!! When the tech arrived he told me that I wasn't a "regular" and wanted to know why. I told him that I'd experienced "surprise charges in the past. He then told me he'd fired all the other techs that had been there for years and he was "top tech" at Burgess so I could trust him to do a complete and thorough job. Really??? Then he told me that my coils and hadn't been cleaned in years, which was not true because I'd had it done exactly 11 months ago from another vendor. He even showed me the coils and although I saw spots on them I didn't think they looked that bad. He said they needed to be cleaned so I asked him what the final cost would be and he told me $149.00 - The total came to $186.00 EVEN [ how does THAT happen with tax???] What I DID NOT EXPECT was him to go back to the office of the condo complex and report to them that I had a dryer that was not properly vented. I received a letter from the condominium office stating that I had a washer and dryer unit in my condo that was not installed by a licensed contractor or it would be on the office's approval list?SERIOUSLY??? The letter stated that I needed to schedule an inspection by the condo office because my dryer is not properly vented. EVERYBODY has to vent their dryers the same way here. Does this guy's job title state that he's QUALIFIED to do air conditioning AND appliance inspection on his job description? First, he would have had to go into the NEXT ROOM, open my bedroom closet and look into the closet where the washer and dryer are to know that. THIS IS NOT HIS AREA so I'd guess that he's probably getting a bonus of some sort for reporting this back to the condo office. If it was in violation, why didn't he mention to me? I bought the condo and the washer and dryer were ALREADY HERE so why doesn't the condo owner inspect before the "interview" when you're buying the condo? I've made up post cards - TONS OF THEM - and handing them out to owners here on what this company did, and how unethical and underhanded they were in reporting something that was NONE OF THEIR BUSINESS?and I've received a huge box of "35% off discount tickets" for future service from another local vendor to hand out to ALL the neighbors in this complex. In Burgess' defense, the CSR there called an said she wanted to get to the bottom of it and will call the maintenance department here on the grounds to find out if this tech reported it to them?.like they'll say yes. Two words?.AIR DOCTOR from now on!!

I saw Burgess on Angie's List, so I called for an estimate. Rick came out the same day and I called back twice with questions for him. He was always professional and answered my questions thoroughly by explaining the "hows" and the "whys". After receiving estimates from several companies, I received a recommendation from a neighbor for Burgess. So not only did they come highly recommended, but their price was the best. Installation went very well, they even moved my thermometer to a better location on my wall. Couldn't be more pleased with their service.

The tech came out on time and took about 30 minutes and found the problem the other two techs from other companies could not find. I then had to schedule for the duct people to come out and repair my leak. They arrived on time and completed the work neatly and professionally. Its been over 1 week and no more leaks!! Great Job.

It went very well. However we understand due to the age of the unit that this is probably a temporary.Gerald was the service tech that was sent on our call. He is absolutely the best and I will be requesting him for any future call. Trustworthy and knows his stuff.
Description of Work: We have a pinhole leak somewhere in our 15 year old AC system. Since it is an old system freon was used to re-charge the system. Also both the compressor unit and the air handler were frozen up as a result of the leak.

My A/C unit had been overflow draining several gallons of water per day. I had used a different service to check the unit and was told that nothing was wrong. Gerald came out and spent about two hours blowing out and cleaning the pipes so the water would drain. He also added a valve so that I could use bleach in the future to keep sediment from building up and causing the problem again in the future. He was extremely competent and professional. I would highly recommend Burgess for any air conditioner repair. Be sure to ask for Gerald.

A working cooling unit flooded the room next to it. A long term leak created mold all over the unit. After being frustrated by two other companies, I called Burgess. Very glad I did! Salesman Rick Murphy was a pleasure to talk with. Installation went smooth. A week later, we had noticed unit coming on often and immediately shutting off. Called Rick at Burgess and he sent someone the same day. After double checking EVERYTHING, James discovered that a vent installed when we built our home, was pointing AT the thermostat and that was the issue. He kindly and thankfully fixed a builder mistake and our new unit runs great!

Gerald arrived within the allotted timeframe for the service call. He diagnosed the problem regarding why temp was not cooling. He explained that the system is leaking refrigerant and a thorough leak test should be done. At this, we approved refrigerant only. Burgess Heating and Air provides annual service to our rentals and residence. The company's technician have been knowledgeable and courteous at all times.

I always use them for my yearly ac check up. They are very professional and always prompt. This year due to critters in the attic they found some duct problems. They quoted and the price was reasonable so I set up a day and time to have the extra work done. They were on time and finished the job, the price was as quoted and now the a/c is not leaking air and the system is running at its optimal performance. Would highly recommend.

Burgess came out for an estimate for the HVAC and to discuss which types of filtration would suit our needs. Once we approved the job, the installation began as soon as I could get a day off from work. The installers came at the promised time and were friendly and professional. They even accomodated our nosey dog, who was very intersted in what they were doing. The installers were very careful not to make a mess at the access hatch in our closet and elsewhere in the house. From what I observed, everything was performed carefully and neatly. After the job was completed, the operation and maintenance of our system was explained. System then operated as promised. After a month of operation, the unit started flashing an error code and cooling performance was decreased. A technician was at the house as soon as I was able to be there to meet him. The issue was due to a leak inside of the evaporator core. (a parts issue not related to installation in any way) The tech found the leak, added a freon charge to get us by until the part came in and ordered the part. He said that the evaporator may be hard to get because they didn't have any currently in stock. I was prepared for a wait of a few weeks. I was surprised when they called the next day and said that they had the part in hand already. The system was back up to 100% the following day and has been operating properly ever since.
Description of Work: We had our air handler and outside unit (condenser assembly) replaced. Some un-needed liquid lines for a heat recovery system that was no longer in use was removed. In addition, they changed a ductwork junction in order to improve air flow to our florida room.
