My tenant called on a Saturday morning reporting the AC stop working after a power outage. The house was 82 degrees and she had two children. It was Saturday and I searched through Angies list for an AC technician. The first company I called went to the house and reported the fan motor and capacitor died but did not have a replacement. I started calling other companies when I came across Holmes. I explained the situation and urgency to the technician who was polite and accommodating. He called my tenant and was at the home a couple of hours later. He called me and reported the problem was misdiagnosed by the previous company explained the problem which turned out to be less expensive then first indicated. The tenant called me and reported the AC was functioning again and was very happy with the professionalism of Holmes as was I. I would highly recommend Holmes for any AC issues and will use them in the future.

Bart Holmes and his helper Izzy came out for an Angie's list deal for AC tuneup and inspection. I have owned my condo since 2007 and have never had my AC looked at so I was happy that a deal came along. They went up on the roof to see the outside part of the AC system, and when they came back down they told me how old the roof unit was and that they couldn't even find model numbers on it (they estimated it was a mid 1990's model). Also, my roof unit is a Ruud and my air handler in my condo is a Trane (about 13 years old). They told me that these units weren't made to run with each other and my setup was kind of rigged. I had no idea. Bart told me that if one of the units dies, then I will have to replace both. He told me I could easily have another year or so because the units were running well for their ages, but that I should start saving up for a whole new system. I was glad to hear his expert opinion. He then pointed out that my air handler did not have an overflow shutoff valve. I remember that when I was about to purchase my condo, the inspector had also pointed this out. Bart was able to install a new valve right on the spot for the same price that my inspector said it would probably cost. I am in an upstairs unit and the last thing I need is my AC condensation overflowing and damaging my floor, as well as possibly damaging the unit below me! It was a real weight off my shoulders to know the status of my AC health as well as peace of mind knowing that I had a new shutoff valve. I would totally recommend Holmes Cooling & Heating and I will call them again should I need any service.

Our a/c system had a total failure and 2 different companies diagnosed it and came away with 2 different solutions. Their sales tactics made us feel uneasy and pressured to act quickly ,then we found Bart with Holmes Cooling, from the very first phone conversation we could tell he was a straight shooter and we felt no pressure or "up sell" tactics. He gave us several options on what we needed to get our system going to complete replacement. When we decided on a full system replacement, Bart and his team arrived exactly as promised and were extremely professional and explained how the job was going. They even went the extra mile making sure the ductwork was sealed correctly and in good shape (not part of the estimate) they even did repairs to the attic entry ladder. When the work was complete the only evidence of their presence was the cool house. These days it is hard to find honest and professional companies that aren't in business just for the money but are willing to help and pay it forward when they can.I believe I have found the only A/C company I will use and recommend in the future!

I called Holmes Heating and Cooling to ask for a second opinion on a AC replacement (recommended by another highly rated Angie's list contractor). Bart answered the phone himself and was so kind. He asked me to read the invoice from the company that did the inspection and what their recommendations were. He said according to what was on the invoice, Company "A" was spot on. So- he basically saved me the $85 service call and reassured me that the estimate I received was honest. He then asked me the name of the company (he said he knows ALL of them and knows who is good and who is not) and he gave me further reassurance. I really appreciated his honesty and candor. I would feel very confident to hire Bart Holmes.

Almost as soon as I bought the Big Deal on Angie's List and emailed Holmes, Meredith called me to set the appointment for 3pm yesterday. At about 3:10, I called Bart and he mentioned he was running a bit behind but would be here soon. Once he arrived, he gave me some background about our system (which is the one installed when the house was built). Basically he did what he could as far as the tune-up because he said that he was cautious about messing with a system so old, as it is very likely on its last leg! Basically, if it ain't broke, don't fix it (particularly in our case since we wouldn't spend any money to fix anything; we'd just install a new unit. We then discussed a maintenance plan that would give us future discounts and priority service, but there was no pressure. I would call Bart again.

Bart, the owner, was timely, very fair, and willing to fully explain the problem and fix for the service we needed. He followed up to be sure the new system was working as promised. We would not hesitate to use him again. I am updating this review. I recently asked Bart to stop by and look at a leak in the condenser duct. He promised he would but never cam by. He did the first work very well. But so far, my continued history with him is that additional follow-up may be a problem.

Unfortunately, three days later we were hit dead center by a powerful thunderstorm that knocked out the A/C unit. It was late Sunday afternoon when it struck. We immediately called to report the problem. Bart was there within an hour to repair the damage. The unit has performed flawlessly since then. A few days after the repair, Bart called to follow-up on the status of the repair and performance of the A/C. We are delighted with both the work and the follow-through. We are pleased to write on his behalf and recommend him highly.

He could have sold us a much bigger job, but knew our situation, instead, he put himself in our shoes and told us how to proceed. He replaced only our condenser, and our system is running perfect! I can not believe the difference! He was very helpful and I would recommend him to anyone!
