Mr. Holmes came out and immediately noticed that the water wasn't draining from the units in our garage, so the automatic shut off kept the system from running and causing a flood. He determined that the drain pipes were hard clogged, and used a special unclogging product, which eliminated the build up that was in the pipes for a very long time.

We had 3 different vendors give us pricing, and suggestions. Out of them all Mr. Holmes was the most reliable person, and spent the time explaining to us what needed to be done. In addition, the pricing and options that were given to us were the best out of the 3 vendors. We ended up at his recommendation purchasing a Goodman 2 ton 16 SEER air handler and condenser to replace one of our AC systems, and the other was a 5 ton 16 SEER Goodman air handler and condenser to replace our other AC system. He took care of the removal of the old existing equipment, and even assisted us with the installation of our 3rd gen NEXT thermostats. We did have some issues moving forward but they were thermostat issues, in that these NEXT had manufacturer issues, that we found out about later on, and returned them for full refunds (back at Lowe's). However, even dealing with the thermostats Mr. Holmes would come out and help us figure out what was going on, as the issues were sporadic. The service that he provided us with was spot on, reliable, and helpful. He did recommend to us to put back on the some simple honeywell thermostats (which he provided) and the issues we were having stopped. We are so pleased that we were able to find Holmes cooling and Heating, and would recommend them over and over!
Description of Work: We had issues with our A/C units when we first moved into our home a little over one year ago. Very poor condition, rust, corrosion, etc...It was understandable as the house was an older home. We got multiple quotes for replacing 2 condensers and 2 air handlers. We decided to have alll the units replaced.

Perfect! Bart arrived promptly. He immediately identified the problem which was not a big deal. He didn't try to make a bigger problem out of it. He even showed us how to deal with it in the future on our own and what regular maintenance things we should do for the AC. Very friendly, personable and professional. Very satisfied ... Highly recommend!

Not good actually. They come out pretty quick. He didn't know what he was doing. He should've refunded my money. He said my themostat was broken. I have like a $400-dollar thermostat. He replaced it with a different one, and it turned out it had nothing to do with my thermostat. When we had taken my thermostat off, that $400, he wanted a part of it. And I paid them $300 above the service. Then he said, "Well here's the $100 back." He should give me that total money and he broke my original thermostat. But he's a super nice guy. As for price, I give them a C just because I don't know if it's good or bad so I just give them average.

According to our records, your husband called us for an after-hours service issue at 7pm in June because the unit was not running, and we told him we were booked solid. He explained to us then that you were 9 mos pregnant and asked if we could rearrange our schedule to accommodate, which we did. Yes you purchased an $88 tune-up on your a/c system, which is NOT a diagnostic and repair call. So when we found out you needed a diagnostic and repair, we refunded you $100 to cover the Big Deal and fixed the issue. The existing thermostat was a wifi thermostat and we believed it to be having trouble connecting to the router, so we installed a new digital, programmable thermostat to get you up and running at your request. As far as the existing thermostat and the pieces to it that you mentioned, we left all those parts with you in case you wanted to return it. I don't install wifi thermostats, so there would be no need for me to use or keep one of its parts - a part may have gotten misplaced. Bart is always very helpful when we need service. We've used Holmes Heating & Cooling a few times now and each time Bart walks us through some basic checks on the phone to assess the problem and makes time to come out to fix the issue. Bart even interrupted his own hurricane preparations on Tuesday night to come out fix our A/C ahead of the storm. Fair pricing and great service.

The previous company (Cool Air USA) failed to provide its warranty on repair and A/C is not cooling. They added freon for a number of times and leak stopper, and said the repair was under warranty. But the freon kept leaking and they wanted to charge for each visit. Our total cost was close to $1000. After that, we pretty much just consulted Holmes AC and the "free" service was awesome. Mr. Holmes patiently discussed with me on a number of phone calls (total time exceeds one hour) and offered me a range of products I can choose from, even I did no business with his company. Highly recommend!

Very professional, great communication and very detail oriented.
Description of Work: well on Sunday our air conditioner stop working and few companies i called do not work on Sundays , likely for me the owner of Holmes Cooling agreed to come help ,with temperatures outside over 95 and inside at 85 ! Our old system was over 11 years old and outside unit many times fixed before i was expecting to get offered new system but Bart make effort to fix the old one so we have air as inside its was hot . So early next morning Holmes cooling come and install the new system . After few days Bart stop by to check if everything working fine . We really appreciate Bart and his team for hard work .

I selected Holes based on both very good reviews, and them being local to me. Basically my drain pipe clogged, the drain pan overflowed, and the unit would not restart. I used a shop vac and a hose the first night to try and fix it myself. The owner Bart himself came the next day, which I thought was a good sign. He's a very nice guy, and I would much prefer to provide a good review, but I owe it to the members here to relay my disappointment. Bart also cleared the line again and drained the pan. Then he cleaned out some sludgy stuff inside the air handler. Not easy work. He inspected the control panel, checked Freon levels, inspected the outside unit and confirmed that it was not the start capacitor. He was also messing with the thermostat that had an error message that he was not sure what it meant. I googled the message and found out that it was an outside air temp sensor. That info did not help him though. All told, Bart was there 3 hours trying to find and fix the problem, but he was not able to do so. He suspected that the outside control panel needed to be replaced, and that it was probably still under warranty. The only problem was that he is not authorized for Carrier systems, so he said he could not do that work anyway. At the end of 3 hours, he basically gave up and recommended I call the CMI company that's authorized to services Carrier. He did call someone there to try to facilitate the next technician. He charged me $297 for 3 hours labor and left me with a sweltering house. CMI came the next day. They re-cleared the drain line (again), inspected the inside unit again, then cleaned the electrical contacts and reset the control panel outside. Presto, problem fixed in about 1.25 hours. No parts required, just another $233 for a Saturday service call and labor. My problem with Holmes is twofold: They never asked me what brand of system I had, nor did they tell me what brands they are not authorized to service and provide covered warranty repairs. I believe they should ask about the brand before they schedule the appointment, and advise as to whether they are knowledgeable and authorized to service that specific brand. And two, this is the real issue. I was charged the full hourly rate for his time, even though they could not diagnose or fix the problem. And it was a problem that was easily fixed without parts the next day by CMI. If I own a business and fail to properly diagnose and fix a fixable problem, I don't think I charge them as if I did fix it. I would charge for the work that you did successfully perform.

Thank you for taking the time to review our company. We looked up your record and wanted to convey that we had a series of issues there. One of them included repairing the drain piping, which we had a problem with for sure because the unit had overflowed into the secondary pan. Once we cleared that clog out and repaired the PVC pipe, we continued further on with the diagnostics, I was led in a particular direction looking for the next issue. I spent 3 hours cleaning up a series of problems that had to be dealt with before getting to the next problem - in other [Member Information Removed], he had to deal with them one problem at a time. By the time I got to the sensor on the outside board, I realized that everything was pointing to that circuit board. It's NOT that Holmes Cooling & Heating is not authorized to work on Carrier equipment - it IS that it was late on a Friday night and supply houses were going to be closed for the weekend. CMI was recommended because their company is much larger and chances were they had the part stocked on their trucks. We are not perfect all the time. Even after 35 years of a/c experience, I am not familiar with all of the hundreds of thermostat brands on the market, and we all make mistakes. Reviewing our information, the issues that were fixed prior to CMI getting there had to be dealt with to get to the end of the diagnostic process. I am taking time to respond in order that you may comprehend the steps in the process it took to get the end diagnostics and the reason that CMI fixed it in just over an hour: because we cleared up the issues that let to the end diagnostics. Rest assured, you were only charged for the services that were performed. After 3 hours of chasing down the end result and everything pointing in one direction, even the best of us can get a little worn out and frazzled, especially after a very long day and it being late on a Friday evening. I was overdue for an A/C checkup. I selected the Holmes Cooling & Heating coupon on Angie's List after reviewing several companies on the website. I made an appointment for the morning I was off. On the day of the appointment I was called by the company to let me know they would be delayed due to the time they had to extend working at the previous site. I told them that it was ok since I had to take care of another appointment. They kept me up to date as to their time and once they arrived, they toke care of the A/C unit and were done within an hour.

We had an emergency with our AC on a Saturday and ;Bart Holmes on Angies list. He was great from the great get go. Bart answered the phone and scheduled an window ( between 1- 3 ) appointment for that day. He kept us informed throughout the day to let us know exactly when he would there. He arrived, told us what the problem was and fixed it. The cost was reasonable. The other two repairman said because it was a Saturday there would an emergency visit fee which he did not charge. Bart is fair, honest, reliable, responsible and a pleasure to deal with.We will certainly be calling him in the future when the need arises and HIGHLY recommend him.
