Let me start by saying, when we first began using Ellington they were still pretty new. They resolved a lot of the problems we had with other a/c companies and seemed to be very honest and forthcoming regarding required repairs and costs. We decided to have them replace the 2 units on our commercial building that were about 7 years old at the time and were not properly done according to what our business needed. Ellington replaced one of the units in May 2011 and the other in May 2012. We began using them for our home, rental home and business from that time on, not only for repairs but annual maintenance for a total of 5 a/c units. We called Ellington this march because one of the commercial units they installed needed a new blower, we had already diagnosed the problem. The technician informed us of that as well when he arrived and he began to give us estimates, starting at about $1400 for the ?Band-Aid Job? and higher if we wanted a ?quality repair?. We explained to him that we already checked our paperwork and are warrantied for parts until May 2016, which would bring our cost down considerably. When he contacted the Ellington office they told him we are commercial and only residential installations are warrantied. My first thought was, ?why would they install a brand new unit on my commercial building if it wasn?t covered?? but, then we went over our warranty again it stated 10 years for residential all others 5 years. When we told them this, they continued to insist that we were not covered and then claimed that we were only covered for a year. We were finally offered a ?bargain price? of around $900.00 to do the repair. Mind you, it?s a simple matter of unscrewing the old part and screwing in the new one. Needless to say we were extremely upset at the fact that they refused to honor our warranty that they gave us at installation and that we presented to the technician at the time of the service call. Then they even charged us $99.00 for a service call! (for doing nothing but looking at the unit) We contacted the manufacturer Amana ourselves and found out that Ellington never registered the unit for the warranty that they handed us, but, the representative at Amana took our info and mailed us our warranty that had us covered just as we said, until May 2016. We contacted an A/C co. referred by a friend, they contacted Amana for the part, Amana shipped it to them at no charge, and the A/C co. charged us only $120.00 to install it. $120.00 dollars!!! That?s quite a difference to the $1400.00 Ellington would have liked to charge us for a repair they warrantied when they installed our unit. We had also been doing the pre-paid maintenance plan with them for our business and home. When I called regarding the business, which was due for service in March and they never called us to schedule, I was told by Josh that they do not do ?pre-paid? for commercial therefore I could not have a ?pre-paid plan?. Not until I read him my invoice from the previous year where I had pre-paid $268.17 for servicing the 2 commercial units for 2016 did he come back on the phone and agree to send me my money back. Hence the reason I waited to write this review, I wanted to make sure I had my money back and the check cleared. Obviously I would now deter people from using Ellington A/C instead of recommending them as I have done for years.

We had installed a Honeywell thermostat that failed after 6 months of usage. We spent 6 hours on the phone with Honeywell's help desk over two days. They had us check the voltage and then asked for an amperage test, telling us to use any two wires but we discovered that that is not the case - the test caused the problem in the air handler - a blown fuse. We finally got Honeywell to accept taking back their faulty thermostat which we replaced with a new one and the Ellington A/C company sent a service representative to resolve the internal problem. They told us to expect him in 5 hours - he arrived in 1.5 hours (yea!) and had the until working. He witnessed the problem we were having with the thermostat (while the A/C worked to cool the air, during the time it was running the temperature on the thermostat would go up causing the A/C until to continue running and the ambient air temperature would go below 70 degrees (the set point was 74). We checked the ambient air temperature with other thermometers and discovered that the ambient air was closer to 68 than 74 degrees. The new thermostat works properly and we are able to maintain a reasonable temperature in the house.

Jeffrey came out and found where the shorted wires were, repaired it and found that my T-stat was bad so he ordered a new one and installed it. Service promptness is excellent & very professional & cordial.

Excellent. Shawn called & arrived earlier than expected. After diagnosing the problem, he graciously waited for my husband to arrive before proceeding with the repairs. His work resulted M what seems to be a "new" unit. Great job.
