Description of Work: Ellington Air replaced an a/c motor that was under warranty. We waited several days for the part to be sent, while no offer to give a temporary a/c unit was offered. Replacing the motor took about 45 min. While I've yet to receive the receipt from Ellington Air, as promised by the tech, the cost was strictly for labor and a 9 month warranty, from my understanding. My husband handled the transaction. I feel buyers need to beware, the high ratings on Angie's List that some companies boast, such as Ellington Air, are basically coerced from the moment they arrive. Their first and last order of business is to get their customers to sit down and offer their recommendation to be touted on Angie's List. How this is feasible, given the fact that no work has been performed as yet. My guess is that the initial Angie's List review is based on the fact that they showed up. At the end of service, when the part had been installed, my husband was told to sit down and fill out another review while they processed our payment. My husband is elderly and lacked the clarity to see this tactic as highly unethical. If a customer is so inclined to write a review, it should be done when and if they want to, and not feel bullied into doing so. Whenever reviews are high, it's best to ask up front if you'll be pressured into doing an on the spot review by the vendor. As a business owner myself, I find that this practice is an unscrupulous tactic, and taints the rating the company so proudly boasts.

I want to start by saying thank you for your feedback. Whether the feedback is positive or negative I appreciate you taking the time to share your experience with others. I find it so important I read each and every review personally. It is only through feedback that we can either celebrate our achievements or work on our failures. Thank fully we celebrate far more often than we have conversations about failures. Unfortunately it seems as if your experience was a failure. I research and look up each and every incident, fortunately we have a very sophisticated gps tracking system and digital invoices to capture such data, therefore I have some facts when researching. After researching your service call, the tech was there for over an hour the day of diagnosis, in which we didn't charge you for the diagnostic fee but rather waived it, and the tech was there on site for far longer than 45 minutes the day of repair, not including acquiring parts, returning parts, etc. In regards to the cost of the repair, we offer the pricing up front with 5 different options in which we asked the customer, what would they like to do. We never want to pressure anyone or make the decision for them on a repair as there are always several variations of a repair. When it comes to elderly people, we always strive to ensure they understand what they are purchasing, but again at the end of the day we can't deter people from making a decision either if in fact they are the one present masking the decision. In regards to gathering reviews, yes we ask every homeowner we see to complete a review, personally I don't see how this is an unethical practice. An unethical practice in my opinion would be if we were to fill it out, which everyone here knows that is instant termination. We take our reviews very serious, as well as serving our customers. In these circumstances were someone is unhappy I always encourage them to have a rational conversation with me in regards to what happened so we can identify where the breakdown was. In any event my reply is not meant to pass judgement but rather extend the olive branch and offer a maintenance at no charge to you due to the poor experience you had. It is never our wish for anyone, regardless of the circumstances to have a poor experience.
