Call was never returned, guess they were just too busy being the # 1 roofer in Brandon.
Description of Work: Based on the excellent reviews they had on Angie's List I contacted Shingle master's om May 2, 2013 and left a message on their voice mail. Expected that my call would at least be returned within a week - never heard from them.

Ed was most professional and knowledgeable. He crawled on the roof himself and brought to our attention that our ridge vents were uncapped and the nails holding (should have been screws) were rusted and no adhesive holding the vents in place. He explained that in addition to installing the two solar fans I provided he'd also redo the ridge vents, providing all material and a 5 year warranty. Ed and his crew of two were out on a Saturday at 7:00 AM and were done in 4 hours. Upon completion they cleaned up and removed all excess materials. Great work.
Description of Work: Removed three passive roof vents and closed existing holes, installed two solar vent fans and retro fitted three ridge vents that were loose.

WONDERFUL. This company should give classes on how to handle a custom job from the beginning sales contact , the repair and replacement and the follow up. I interviewed THREE roofing companies all on Angie's List and while all three were highly recommended, Shingle Masters won the bid for the most work for the money. They also told me about how to file a claim for my old roof to receive some money back from the previous roof warranty. They took the needed photographs, helped gather the needed shingle specimens and gave me the needed documentation to complete the claim filing. Brock Beauchaine, the salesman and owner Ed's son, gave me addresses of several job sites so that I could see how the roof would look on a home. I LOVE my new roof. Neighbors came by and took photos of their yard sign and several neighbors have asked me about the roof job. Wish I had kept their yard sign in the yard for months. And QUICK, the roof was completed in two days!!! They arrive with teams that know what to do as they follow other teams to get the job completed. It did take a few additional days to complete the chimney siding, critter guard and new chimney cap however I was quite pleased. While removing the old roof, a workman stepped through bad plywood and his foot went through my bath room ceiling. They sent out a very qualified dry wall repairman and then a very qualified painter who not only painted the damaged area but the entire bathroom ceiling. The gutter workers were also very qualified and pleasant. Every single workman and repairman was polite, gracious and pleasant. IT WAS MY PLEASURE TO WORK WITH SHINGLE MASTERS They deserve every Angie List Award they have received year after year. They are not just Brandon's Best Roofer, They are Hills. County's Best Roofer!!! They gave me a discount for being an Angie's List customer and additional discount for paying cash. I LOVE MY ROOF!!!
Description of Work: Removed gutters, old shingles, chimney siding and flashing, vents, boots, valleys, eaves drip and felt. Hames Hardie chimney siding, repair flashing, fascia, soffit and rafters as needed, Installed roof to hurricane code, perform wind mitigation and complete forms for insurance. Install new roof on entire roof (46 sqs), 28 feet of shingle ridge vents and three off ridge vents, lead boots with painted squirrel guards. Remove old materials and clean up site. Paint chimney and other repairs to match.

The crew worked diligently and performed all work in a neat, orderly manner. They were polite. Clean up after finishing was to my satisfaction. They painted the vent pipes and exhaust vents in a matching color, which was unexpected, but appreciated. There were some shingles left over and they left them with me in case I should need them later in the event of any further leaks. All in all, a job well done. I would use the company again if needed. UPDATE: 5/22/2013 4 days after the repairs listed above we had a thunderstorm with heavy rain and gusty winds. A new leak appeared over the master bathroom area, where some of the vent pipe work had been done. Water was coming through the exhaust fan in the ceiling and the ceiling had water stains in several areas. I called Shingle Masters the next morning (Tuesday) and they had the repair crew out the next day to repair the new leak. Thank you Dallas, Ed, and the rest of the crew for your help and diligence!
Description of Work: Repaired leak. Added ridge vents to 2 areas, expanded and replaced one existing ridge vent. Repaired/replaced vent pipes and added squirrel guards to vent caps.

The entire job was accomplished very efficient and professionally from the initial contact to discuss job details, contract negotiations, job completion and follow up. The company owner stopped by numerous times checking on job progress, providing additional materials as necessary, ensure all work was done to his high professional standards and that all building codes were met or exceeded. As problems arose the company owner resolved them efficiently and to his high standards. The County Building Inspector told me that the crew replacing my roof was outstanding and never required rework or for him to perform re-inspections which I fully agree with. The crew was outstanding and very professional and polite. The roof was replaced, insulation added and soffit vents installed in one day starting at 7 AM and completing before dusk. The Stucco was repaired the following day and repainting to match a few days later. What amazed me the most is that the Company was in no rush to receive payment for work completed, in fact after everything was completed the Company scheduled a final walkthrough of the job with the Owner and myself. Even though money was not discussed I assume payment will be tendered after my satisfaction of the job after the walkthrough. This has never happened to me before with contractors performing work for me.
Description of Work: Replaced roof including 16 sheets of plywood, installed soffit insulation vents throughout attic, replaced all flashings, replaced all drip edges along entire roof, replaced all vents and lead boots with squirrel guards, connected two bathroom exhaust fans and vented out of roof, installed 130 mph Owens Corning Duration TruDefinition shingles finishing by repairing all Stucco damaged during flashing replacement followed by repainting to match existing colors. Also added attic insulation to double the R value of the entire attic including the covered patio and garage. Cleaned up after repairs including gutters and downspouts.

I contacted company to come out for estimate to repair leak/soft spot on roof as well as estimate for new roof. The office staff was polite and Ed the owner came out in person. He was on time, professional in his approach and presentation. Clearly knows his business. He is coming out again next week with shingles so I can decide on color and will sign contract to have the new roof done. I have every confidence in his company and it's clear from reviews that other people do as well.

Shingle masters made an appointment for an estimate, they showed up on time, gave to me waht I thought was a fair estimate after looking at the leak, I signed the areement right then and they told me the timeframe they could complete the work. Based on where the leak was they were able to do the work without me at home, so whithin the time expected they completed the work and called me with an update.
Description of Work: Small roof leak, they removed the shingles and repaired the wood and put on new shingles.

Brock came to the house to meet with me and go over the size of the roof etc. He then quoted me a price which I thought was high, but I hadn't replaced a roof in many years. The work they did was worth every penny. They put tarps all over the place to catch any debris that fell and they ran a magnet around the house when they ere done to make unsure there were no nails or tacks left behind. I would highly recommend this company to everyone. They are fantastic!
Description of Work: They removed all the shingles and tar paper. They also replace any bad boards. Then they laid down a peel and stick barrier and put up new shingles throat are warranted by the manufacturer for 50 years. They also installed 900 feet of gutter with a leaf guard. They did the whole roof in one day and I had 4500 sq ft of roofing! They were very professional land cleaned up everything.

After reviewing numerous roofing services on Angie's List, I narrowed them down to three. I had those three come out for an appraisal. Although Shingle Masters was the most expensive of the three, they were the most professional and were able to sit down and show me every detail of what they would do. They did everything they said. No hidden costs, no "surprises". Having a general contractor's license along with a roofing contractor's license is a plus. It did take a couple of extra days to complete, but that was due to some rainy days. When it did rain, the roofing crew covered any exposed wood, waited for it to clear, and then when right back to work. They did a great job!
Description of Work: Removed old shingles, skylights, nails, vents, valleys, lead boots, eaves drip, felt and all damaged plywood. Made all plywood, flashing, faschia and rafter repairs. Installed peel & stick underlayment on entire roof and 2 layers in the valleys. Sealed eaves drip, vents, lead boots with squirrel guards and starter strips. Installed 120' ridge vents and 8 off-ridge vents and recovered the roof with 130 mpg Owens Corning shingles. Cleaned up and removed old material from property. Included was repair to previous water damaged soffit. Repaired and painted bottom of chimney to match. Performed a wind mitigation form for my insurance company.

The representative who came out to provide an estimate was very professional. He took time to explain what needed to be done. The estimate that was provided was more expensive than a previous estimate provided by another company, but that comapny never showed up to do the work. We subsequently agreed to have the work done. The company advised that they would do the work during a certain week butthat did not happen. When we called them they advised that they would be out the next week. They subsequently confirmed the day that they would be out and arrived that day. The work was completed, and though we have had limited rain since the repair, it appears that the repair solved our problem leak.

The quality of work and professionalism of this company is outstanding. The job was completed in a timely matter, but never at the expense of all work being performed at superior standards.Brock does a final walk around with the customer, and provides all documentation needed. For all veterans, GAF is providing a $300 rebate through 2013. The job site was completely clean at the end. Brock, his father, or brother were always available on site, or by phone to answer all questions. I happen to live in northern Pinellas county, but I would highly recommend contacting this company for all your roofing needs. A+

They never gave me a quote.
Description of Work: They were prompt in showing up for the bid inspection, but never got back to me. I called a week later, and the person I spoke to said he would get on it, but I never heard back. They are obviously good at what they do, but are likely spread too thin because of that. I have friends that have used them, and were very pleased.

My apologies to you for not receiving a quote in a timely manner. My understanding is that you were unable to stay for the quote. It is a best practice of ours to be able to meet with the homeowner and go over the quote in person that day. When that does not happen other appointment tend to fill Brock's day. Thank you

Brock who goes out & does the estimates (but not the actual work) was very knowledgeable and pleasant. He was thorough in giving me specific names and addresses of people whose roofs they have recently replaced in our development, so that I could go and look at the work in person. He showed me all their certifications and awards. When I mentioned that the prices he gave me for the roofing alone were above what we could afford, in order to lower the roofing price, he put together several packages that combined roofing and other repairs. This still made the offers much more than we could afford and we turned them down. They appear to have a "monopoly" in our area of town. I might consider using the construction portion of their company for the other home repairs that are needed, but they need to be more open to negotiating their costs or they may lose more customers.

Response from Shingle Masters Roofing & Construction Services
Member, I truly wish we could have earned your business. I know that we would have completed the roof in the same professional manner in which you were serviced during your quote by Brock. I wanted to take a moment to point out a few issues about the roof we quoted you and the roof received from another contractor so that you understand that price was not the only difference. According to public records, your roof only has 30 # felt. Our quote specified Peel and Stick underlayment. Peel and stick is a superior underlayment to felt, so much so that it earns a homeowner's insurance discount. Also, when I viewed your roof, the contractor installed much less venting that we had quoted. The decrease in venting causes hot attic air to vent out less quickly, and thus, results in higher cooling costs for your home. These two items alone show that you did not get an apples to apples quote to the proposal we gave you. In the long run, you may actually pay more for the roof you have. Lastly, and most importantly, when i searched your contractor on Florida's Department of Financial Regulation website(www.fldfs.com) it shows that he does not carry worker's compensation insurance. Instead, he has only exempted himself. What does this mean? The contractor risked the well being of his workers as well as your financial well being, as well as illegally installed your roof. Worker's Compensation Insurance is costly, but required. This is an easy way to cut costs, but in the long run he could end up in trouble and out of of business. Thanks again for considering our company. I hope you keep these factors in mind when deciding on a contractor for a construction project.

Shingle masters was recommended to me by my next door neighbor. They have won "Best in Brandon" roofer awards several years in a row. Overall roofing job, solatube installation, insulation upgrade was excellent! The Roofers, Masonry, Carpenters and cleanup crews did a proffesional job. All installation took one day with final touch ups and painting a few more days. The only downside to their whole operation was returning phone calls due to the volume of estimates and jobs they have. They were very courtious, prompt, and proffessional. Whatever price they tell you and is stated on the contract is the price you will pay. Very honest and up front. Have a few discounts such as cash payment, Angie's list coupon 200.00, GAF shingle rebate 300.00. Had another estimate done with a competitor, which was slightly lower in price, but they would have to get a separate contractor to install the solatubes, and they charged per square foot on the replacement of the plywood. Overall, I would highly recommend Shingle Masters - Ed, Brock, Mike and crew were awesome!
Description of Work: Removed shingles, nails, vents, valleys, lead boots, eaves drip, felt and all damaged plywood. Make all plywood, flashing, fascia, soffit, and rafter repairs. ALL REPAIRS INCLUDED. Nail plywood to code. Install peel and stick under lament on entire roof and two layers in valleys, sealed eaves drip, vents, and lead boots with squirrel gaurds painted to mat.ch, starter strips, 28' shingle over ridge and 2 double off ridge vents and shingles. Clean up work and remove old material from property. Paint fascia and soffit repairs. Blown in insulation to R30, and installed 2 - 14" solatubes. Performed wind mitigation inspection - providing a dvd and allpaperwork required for insurance company requirements. Obtained permits, filled out shingle warranty paperwork and submitted to manufacturer. Performed final inspections.

Brock Beauchaine came to the house and discussed all options and recommendations. His offer was a little higher than others, but he was so personable and patient that it tipped our choice to his company. They even brought shingle samples and provided a list of other properties that they had done so we could drive by and see the colors and work in person. The Shinglemasters crew arrived on time as scheduled and descended on the house like something out of Extreme Makeover! The whole thing, including replacement of 5 sheets of old wood, putting in new air vents and replacing the old gutters took less than 2 days. It was amazing to see the house transformed so quickly, efficiently and professionally. The clean up left no traces of debris and we are extremely satisfied with the job and the new roof. Even the neighbors complemented how fast the Shinglemasters team worked and how great the roof looks. Go ahead and get other quotes, but you'll not be disappointed with the work of the Shinglemasters Beauchaine family! They have my highest recommendation!

I can't say enough about this company. It's family owned and we met them all. There was always one of the family members there to supervise. At one point, one of the workers could't make it and the son went up on the roof to help out. They were all professional and above all, hard workers. They did everything that we agreed to plus more to make sure the roof was done correctly (at no extra cost). I have recommended them to other folks needing their roofs done.

Description of Work: Excellent presentation of what they would do on the job and after. Quoted price which included everything and then deducted Angie's list coupon and discount for paying by check. I run the maintenance department for a property management company, and we are always looking for great contractors to do work on our properties. This is not one of them. I called on Tuesday 10/16 and requested an estimate to put a new roof on one of our houses. They immediately set an appointment to come out on Thursday, and said they would email the estimate when they wrote it up. I called on Monday afternoon (10/21) because I hadn't heard anything. No one answered and I left a message. I received a return call the next morning and the woman on the phone seemed confused and asked me if I needed an estimate. I told her that they were already supposed to have gone and looked at my property and I was waiting for an estimate. She asked me for the property address and then told me that she didn't have the estimate, and that "maybe" her boss hadn't written it up yet because he does office work on Thursdays. I told her that I would wait. I called back at 4:15 pm on Thursday because again I hadn't heard anything and left another message. I tried calling again today, but got the answering machine so I was forced to leave another message. Now I'm writing this review.

Replaced a big roof exhaust fan (rated to 2200 sq. ft.) and the plywood and shingles around it. Called Shingle Masters for minor repairs to some leaks in my roof around exhast vents. Received a quick callback and schedule for an onsite estimate. Mike was very nice and identified the issues plus reviewed the rest of the roof and had a few extra recommendations where shingles were not installed well at the flashing where the 1 story garage meets the 2nd floor walls. He was able to have his team back on the next morning which was a Saturday. He and his team were on time as promised and were done in a few hours. There were a few pieces of scrap trash left on the ground, but not a big deal. However the next big rain we later the following week, had proved that the problem had not been resolved at both repaired exhaust vents. After notifying Mike, he had his team back out on the next Saturday morning to review. They performed a water leak test and were able to identify where additional roof tar/cement and silicone needed to be used to hold back the leaks. Mike insisted I not pay for the job until more storms came through to be sure that the leaks did not continue - which so far after 3 weeks, no leak has occured. Other than wishing the leak test was done the first time, I am satisfied with the job.

Originally contacted company to provide a quote for a new, shingle roof. Fully explained situation that we were in the process of buying a home and had a limited amount of time to provide numbers back to the seller. Initial contact from Ed at Shingle Masters was quick. We contacted them on August 22. Within a phone call, they promised to be out on Friday, August 24. When that came and went without hearing anything, they stated they would be out the following Tuesday. Tuesday, August 28 came and went without any word, except we were told someone had made it out. We had a contractually obligated negotiation deadline of September 1 and on Thursday August 30, I emailed Ed to find out the status. His response was that he was sorry they hadn't provided the estimate yet but they were working on it and he was working to have it to us that day (August 31). Based on their poor response times early in the process we had contacted another roofer just in case. Brad Morgan with Dynamic Roofing Concepts was responsive and after being contacted on a Tuesday, told us he would have an estimate to us by the deadline, and he did. September 1 came and went with nothing from Ed. September 10 brought an email in all caps with highlighted parts from Ed stating that he had sent the proposal multiple times with no response from me. I had been monitoring my junk mailboxes and had not seen anything. Nowhere did I see a forward of a message that was bounced back or anything proving that he had sent it before the 10th, so I'm not sure I believe that. We continued conversations about replacing the roof with Shingle Masters but continue to be disappointed in the response time via email from Ed. Because of this, we've decided to pursue a replacement roof with another company. If they are responsive to you, there is no reason not to use Shingle Masters. However, if they are so busy that they don't have time to respond to potential customers, they should just state this at the first contact and save everyone the trouble.

We are VERY pleased with the work that was done. The crew arrived at 7:00AM and work began promptly. The old roof and rear gable siding were removed within a couple hours, all repairs were made to the existing plywood (and/or replaced) as needed and the new roof and siding were installed on the first day. Stucco and painting were completed the same week as there were minor delays because of the weather but we have no complaints. All work was completed professionally and on-time. We definitely would not hesitate to call them again for future projects.
Description of Work: After using Angie's List to find a company to service our air conditioner, we were on the hunt for a roofing company as our 20-year old roof started leak during TS Debby (we had wanted to have it replaced but the minor leaking expedited the need for it). We read many reviews and contacted ShingleMasters. Brock came out and gave us an estimate to replace the roof, add several ridge vents, blow-in insulation under the roof, and replace the siding on the back of the house. The dumpster was delivered the day before work started on the roof. All work was performed to Code and we received a Wind Mitigation Report and CD of digital images for our homeowners insurance company.
