It went fine, they fixed the issue. There really wasn't much cleanup because it was outside. They were punctual and they showed up. They fixed it before the rain started.

Very courteous and professional when they came out but just way more than we wanted to spend on a house that we are selling.

He came out on time 2 days after the initial phone call and took the pictures (he was very responsive.) They told me not worry and that they would take care of it for me. I called back 3 days later and the lady at the office told me she would have Ed write the report. After the 3rd phone call, she didn't answer the phone for me anymore. The report was due by June 18th, but I haven't heard anything. If they couldn't make it, I would've understood and would've had someone else come out and take care of it. I have used them before and there were no problems. He was timely and professional last time.

[member name removed], I apologize that we were unable to perform the wind mitigation inspection for you as you had requested. There was confusion regarding your request. Your initial phone call to our office gave Dallas in our office the impression that we had already performed a wind mitigation inspection to you in the past and it only needed to be updated(they expire every five years). When Ed arrived to your home he realized this was not the case. In hindsight, Ed should have told you this. At this time Ed could have provided you with a wind mitigation inspection, however due to the existing conditions(spray foam insulation and an existing roof ) we could not inspect the roof to deck attachment(nailing) hurricane straps, or the presence of a secondary water barrier(peel and stick underlayment). Because of these issues we would have given you an inspection that may not have reflected the actual construction of your home. For this reason we were not able to provide you with a wind mitigation inspection. This should have been communicated to you immediately. I apologize for that. For clarification only, we did not collect payment or perform services for you regarding this request for inspection. Thank you

Ms. [removed member name], I am sorry we were unable to provide you with a quote. I was your estimator that day. I phoned you around 430pm, a half hour before our 5pm appointment, to confirm the appointment and let you know I was coming across town and with traffic I would be running late. I did not get a return call from you until after 7pm that Friday evening. The next week I was personally out of town and my office was not able to schedule a new appointment to review your roof repair request. Thank you for considering us for your work and I apologize for not providing you a quote. Mike Beauchaine

We called and ask for estimate for our roof and got great response. Ed came out on Friday 1/31/14 and arrived prior to the appointment to start checking our roof. He gave us the estimate and was to get us some info on gutters. We sent an e-mail 3/3/14 to say we wanted to proceed but had a few questions and ask for him to call us. Ed e-mailed on the 4th saying he was going to have surgery e-mail our questions. We e-mailed back a few days later with our questions. We did not hear from anyone at the company so we called to find out how Ed was doing after his surgery and was told he was on light duty but he would be calling us. Today is 4/4/14 and we have not heard anything. I know this a family run business but someone should follow up. We are very disappointed because we had heard good things about this company.

I called Shingle Masters for quotes and was quickly scheduled to meet with Mike Beauchaine on Jan. 27, 2014. Shingle Masters is a family owned business; Ed (father); his two sons, Mike and Brock and Dallas in the office (who I think is the daughter/sister). I found working with Mike (and Dallas) to be easy. Mike was very responsive to questions and concerns. He also seemed to know his product lines. MIke walked my roof and provided estimates for both GAF and Owens-Corning roofing systems. Both quotes included the necessary products to meet lifetime warranty requirements (both companies require such things as peel and stick rubberized underlayment instead of felt paper and starter shingles along with other products). Interestingly, the extra cost in the quotes for the lifetime shingle/workmanship warranty was cheaper from Shingle Masters than the same lifetime warranty quotes provided by other companies. One roofing contractor quoted twice as much for the lifetime GAF warranty compared to the Shingle Masters quote. I didn't realize that various roofing companies would charge differing amounts for an extended warranty provided by the manufacturer. While I was considering GAF vs. Ownens-Corning, I was checking online for complaints against GAF and Owens-Corning. I found various class action lawsuits, users hasles, shingle problems etc. Neither company came out problem free, but when I talked to Mike about some concerns I had with Owens Corning, he made immediate contact with his Owens-Corning rep. and had satisfactory replies back to me on the same day that I expressed my concerns. I asked Mike for a sample Shingle Masters contract and copies of the lifetime warranties offered by GAF and Owens-Corning and he emailed those to me the evening following the estimate. He also provided a list of houses in my area with the shingle that I was considering so I could go see actual roofs. He was also quick to reply to various questions and concerns that I emailed to him while considering quotes. With input from Mike, I decided to go with the Owens Corning TruDefinition Duration with the manufacturer extra cost lifetime warranty. The Shingle Masters quoted priced for GAF vs. Owens Corning were only $100 apart. Mike provided good reasons to go with Owens-Corning (and I was reluctant to go with GAF after all the problems I'd had with them before). Some of the things that I liked about the Shingle Master quote: -The price was excellent compared to other quotes. -The Shingle Masters quote was much more detailed than other companies and Mike had no problems when I wanted to add language to the contract to get really specific on a couple of things. - No down payment (a coule of other companies wanted deposits). - Shingle Masters was an ALL inclusive quote including ALL repairs. I told Mike that previous repairs had required replacement of rotted OSB and there was probably a lot more rotted wood up there. Mike said that he noticed a few spongy areas while walking my roof, but still, all rotted wood repairs were included in the price (unless the damage was termite related). Other companies that provided quotes allowed 2 sheets of plywood and then from $50 to $65.00/sheet for anything beyond 2 sheets. Shingle Masters ended up replacing a lot of rotted OSB on my roof. I don't know the total number of sheets, but I had an impressive pile of rotted 2 X 4s and rotted OSB in my yard. (Since my roof was OSB, the repairs were also OSB and not plywood). -Mike's quote was the only one to address attic ventilation and included new vents on the south side of my roof. - Shingle Masters quote included squirrel guard painted to match vents and new shingles -- some other quotes didn't mention anything about squirrel guard. One company offer to add that to their quote for addtitional cost but not painted to match. -Wind mitagation paperwork and pictures were included in the quote for submission to my insurance company for a possible premium reduction. -MIke provided insurance paperwork. I called MIke on 2-17-2014 to set up a contract signing. We met on 02-21-2014. He scheduled my tear-off/re-roof for 3/3/2014. Dallas from the Shingle Masters office called me on 2-28-2014 to arrange dumpster delivery. They use a dumpster on wheels that fit in half of my 2-car driveway and still allowed me to get in and out of the garage. Some of the quotes/contracts I reveiwed cautioned that their dumpster might crack the driveway and the company would not be responsible for that. There was no such problem with the type of dumpster used by Shingle Masters. Dallas told me that work would begin at 7:00 am on 3/3/20014. The crew was on site a little before 7:00 on 3-3-2014 and got right to work. They started by spreading large blue tarps around the entire perimeter of my house to catch nails and debris and protect my plants and hedges. The tarps extended from the walls of my home out about 15 feet so there really wasn't a problem with nails or debris after the crew was done. From the time they started until the job was finished, there was constant work/hammering going on. Although Mike told me that his crew took a lunch break, it seemed from inside the house that they worked continuously. They finished the complete tear off, fixing rotted OSB and rafters, application of peel and stick underlayment and the entire re-roofing in one day. During their activities, I didn't hear a radio - something that was a bit of a problem in my neighborhood with a re-roof a month earlier by another company across the street from me. The company that did that one had a blaring radio running for 3 days. Several days after my roof was finished, a painter showed up to touch up a few areas of the stucco and remove a couple of marks on the fascia. We've had a couple of heavy rains since my new roof was finihsed and no problems. Mike set up an appointment to meet with me at my house on 3-14-2014 (after final inspection). At that meeting, he provided a lien release and photos on CD along with the wind mitagation paperwork to be submitted to my insurance company. We also walked around my property to assure that I was happy with everything. I hadn't paid a dime up to that point. The roof looks great and after the magnitized nail pickup used by the crew at the end of the day, I only found 2 nails in my yard. (My lawn guy was happy about that. He said that he's had multiple flat tires on his mower from customer re-roofings). The cleanup after the job was thorough. It was a good experience.
Description of Work: Replaced the roof on my 2000 square foot ranch home. After researching both GAF and Owens Corning shingles, I found that both companies offer extended lifetime warranties on shingles and workmanship, but only if you use manufacturer certified roofing companies and also include specific manufacturer products in the re-roofing. Since my previous GAF roof was only 14 years old and had needed multiple expensive repairs starting in year 6, I wanted a good warranty that covered both material and workmanship (especially to guard against the problems that could occur if the selected contractor goes out of business during the warranty period). On all of the repairs on my 14 year old GAF roof, I had been told that workmanship problems played a big part in my problems. I'd also been told that a large portion of my old GAF shingles had never sealed correctly. Fixing either ended up being my problem with the cash coming out of my pocket. Although there were cheaper roofing quotes (from non-certified contractors who offered at most a 5 year labor warranty), I only wanted to consider quotes from either GAF Master Elite certified contractors or Owens-Corning Platnium Preferred Contractors. Shingle Masters is both GAF Master Elite and Owens-Corning Platnium Preferred.

I enlisted 3 roofing contractors for a quote. Each had a solid A rating on Angie's list. During the quoting process, Shingle Master's roofing stood out in the most detailed, easiest to understand quote of the three. Brock was a great communicator throughout the quoting process. All my questions received immediate responses. Shingle Master's pricing was within what the other companies quoted. Ultimately, my decision to select Shingle Master's was in the details (a quote that was easy to understand and provided all the work that I needed done, excellent communication and a great reputation) they brought to the table as well as a fantastic warranty. Once the quote was accepted, work was set for 3 weeks later. I received notification 5 days before that we were good to go for the 3/11 date. On the day of the project, the crew arrived exactly when they said they would. Work started immediately. During the day, the area looked like controlled chaos, but it was clear each person knew their part of the job and worked diligently. At the end of the day, I had a new roof and only the dumpster remained. It was awesome. After the final walk through, Mike provided me all the paperwork I needed as well as the documentation to provide to my insurance agent for a possible discount. This company is top notch all the way. I would recommend them to anyone needing a roof replacement.

Quite simply an incredible operation from start to finish. Brock provided a timely, professional estimate that included the lumber (key in shopping any roofer). I asked each of the 4 estimates I received to include repairing a dead spot in a corner of our roof where water accumulates and leaks. Shingle Masters was the only one to give specific information about how they were going to cut out the improperly designed section, raise the roof to prevent accumulation AND it was included in the roofing price. All of the estimates I received were within 1-3% of each other, but Shingle Masters included the lumber and had an incredibly large 7 person crew on the site. They cleaned up everyday. I have already recommended Shingle Masters to my friends at work who will get roofs next year. Replacing a roof is one of the largest expenditures and after reading some of the horror stories in FL, I was truly impressed with every step of the process with Shingle Masters.

I called their office several times & left messages until we finally got a 6/15 appt for Ed to re-check. On 6/15, Ed spoke to my husband over the phone & said that it was under warranty & they'd place us on their schedule... I called on 6/29 to see when we were scheduled. I was told that they would call us. I called on 7/23 & left a message. After calling several times, I was finally told that it would be repaired 8/2. No one came that day. They did repair it in the next few days but, unfortunately, it still seems to be leaking. The leak appears infrequently & is minor but, we won't be calling them ever again. The poor repair work was bad enough but, the unprofessionalism of the management was inexcusable. They were never proactive, I had to call them, & they were totally unconcerned with the damage that they caused to our interior. They never offered to cover the roof area until they could re-fix it. We had to wait through the summer rain storms & watch while our ceiling took buckets of water through it. We were never called to see if their work was sufficient. No one came out to double check the employees' work or ask if it was corrected. In my opinion, very poor management. I can understand having problems getting the repair to be corrective but, I cannot understand the poor customer service from management. We chose this company because it was highly rated on Angie's List & they had a coupon...we had no way of knowing that this would be a terrible choice. So, $500 later we still had a minor leak, but now we have to repair a ceiling. I would have graded them an "F" but, they did show up & do some work.
Description of Work: In March 2013, Shingle Masters' Ed came out to give an estimate of a minor leak in our roof that was causing some small wet spots on the inside wall above the front door, we agreed to the work and paid. They came & did work on our roof. We were to get new plywood, a leak barrier, & shingles applied to the leak area & new ridge vent caps put on. In June, the rains came and our roof leaked WORSE than before the repair. We had water pouring into our living room & foyer area onto our carpeting & wood floors from the 14 foot ceiling. It ruined our textured ceiling & it will now need repair. We were home & so were able to catch the majority of the water before the floors were ruined too.

This company and their staff far exceed expectations!! From our initial contact, Mike worked with us via phone (as we were in Ohio) to offer suggestions, explain shingle options, and outline work to be performed. He followed up with an email containing information on their insurance, permitting, manufacturer's certification and web links to shingle options. He also included a detailed map of previously completed work in our area for references. We arrived in Florida, materials were delivered and work commenced. The two craftsmen who replaced the fascia, soffit and installed new shutters were meticulous and professional and we can not say enough about their work. In fact, the entire crew is professional - start to finish. They treat your property as if it were their own - covering landscraping during work and thoroughly cleaning up at the end of each day. Ed and Mike were both on site to check on the progress of work and assure everything was progressing as had been outlined with us. Shingle Masters did not require a deposit and full payment was not requested until Mike had completed a walk thru and provided all our warranties, wind mitigation forms and photos. As a footnote, these guys go above and beyond the call of duty- during our first rain storm, we noticed a small amount of water coming in to the house. We phoned and the next morning, Ed was there bright and early with 3 crew members. After running water over the roof and looking for leaks, they discovered either rats or squirrels had been trapped in the attic and eaten through the air conditioner pvc pipe. Ed ran to Home Depot, bought a length of pipe and supplies and came right back and made repairs. This was just hours before we were scheduled to fly back to Ohio. Ed - can't thank you enough!!! We highly recommend Shingle Masters to anyone who needs a roof repaired or replaced. Note: We sent out a bid request to 10 contractors and received bids from 6. Overall, the cost and type materials used by Shingle Masters was superior. Based on Angie's List reviews and conversations with Mike, we went with Shingle Masters. Very pleased with our choice - great company that prides itself on workmanship, value and delivering great customer service.

I was glad that I had chosen to join Angie's list. I was able to see all the different roofers and make a choice. I interviewed many from the list. I read all the comments members made about their roof repair. I also interviewed Brock from ShingleMasters and he told me all the things that they would do to repair my roof. I wanted to get gutters and I wanted to have the rain water drain away from my house in the back side yard. He suggested that we install an extra pipe to drain the rain water to the flower beds. We also added leaf catchers to the gutters. He suggested that he could add insulation in the attic. Also that they would be able to do a mitigation for the insurance company. He said that he would send me an email with all the prices for each job. We could choose how we wanted to do the project and the total for different packages. We decided to do everything. First they put a dumpster in our drive off to one side. The next day they started early in the morning to remove the old roof. They were very careful to cover all my bushes for falling things from the roof. As soon as they finished that they took the tarp off the bushes. They then started to lay down the first layer and then they started to put down the shingles. Everything went very well with no problems. They would things that the builder should have done and repaired that. Then the insulation went in and when the roof was done the gutters were put on the house. The team worked very well. The roof looks beautiful and the insulation keeps my house cooler or warmer. No extra charges or surprises. Many discounts. I'm really very happy that I hired ShingleMaster. I am going to get a refund from my insurance company for the mitigation report and the new roof. My roof looks better than any other new roof in the neighborhood.

The roof repair went great, with no more leaks. We had to wait for the original estimate since the problems surfaced during the rainy season and the roofers were very busy. The owner came out and did the estimate, showing us photos of the problem areas so we could completely understand what was needed. The repairs included some re-work that had not been done correctly before. Considering the amount of work necessary, the cost was very reasonable and came with an extended warranty. We had to wait again for the work to be performed, due to the rains and their busy schedule, but they came on time and worked diligently. After they did the first round, we had one leak still occurring, and they promptly came back and fully fixed the problem. We have not had a single problem since. We are very appreciative of their conscientiousness and professionalism.

If you still need roofing service we also have an online form to fill out at shinglemasters.com, or you could send a request through Angies List and we will contact you. Thank you

From the initial estimate to the finished product Shingle Masters consistently exceeded our expectations. Brock met with us two times to discuss roof options and the job process to answer all of our questions and walk us through the detailed written estimate of the job (the best and most complete estimate we received!!). Communication from the front office on forms, start date, how the job would proceed, payment and final inspections was handled exactly as outlined. The job itself was done under the original time estimate, and the quality work of the final product far exceeded our expectations. The attention to detail and follow through was just great. Our pool and plants were covered during the roof removal and installation process- great care was taken at the job site to keep our property clean and safe. All workmen conducted themselves professionally. Ed was there the first day to set the tone and expectations of the job and continued to follow up. Mike also was actively involved during the job and met with us post completion to get our direct feedback. If I ever needed another roof replaced, I hope it is in an area Shingle Masters services. I would comfortably recommend them to family and friends. Note I called 9 roofing companies, all listed on Angie's List. Of the nine, 8 showed up, 6 gave written estimates with some level of detail, and of those 4 were also listed on the roofing supply companies websites as a preferred installer. Three followed up after providing an estimate. We went with Shingle Masters based on the thoroughness of their estimate, after visiting prior job sites, reading other reviews, and calling roofing supply companies (both Owens Corning and GAF). I personally found Shingle Masters to be that seemingly rare breed of company who takes true pride in their work, cares about their customers, and gives great value for their services.
Description of Work: Shingle Masters removed our existing tile roof, replaced with an Owens Corning composite roof, added new vents, a solar attic fan, new drip edges, replaced roof decking where needed, cleaned and repaired our gutters, installed new attic insulation.

Awesome! Ed called before hand to let me know he and his crew were enroute. Everyone was very punctual. Ed inspected the roof along with his crew and he advised me of what they found. His crew got right to work and completed the task at hand in the most professional manner. The crew cleaned up as they worked so there was very little to clean up when they were finished. Ed also identified and repaired an area that was not under warranty. It is this kind of proactive service that makes this a top rated company. Kudos to Ed and his crew.
Description of Work: Warranty repair work.

Shingle Masters provided a detailed roofing repair estimate that was easy to understand during quote phase. Brock , who provided our estimate was professional and very knowledgeable and answered all of my questions. I sought out 2 other Angies list roofers and being that Shingle Masters spent the most time on the property and provided a detailed estimate, I chose this company. I ordered the 30 yr GAF Timberline HD shingle in Barkwood to accent the brickwork on the home as Brock suggested (good call my man!) The office staff emailed me a work schedule which stated work would start 11/18 and would be complete within 3 days providing weather wasnt an issue. I took that week of the 18th off to watch my new roof being layed. A four man crew worked from sunrise to sunset and were the hardest working team of guys I had ever seen! I was so impressed that on the 3rd day I bought lunch for the roofing crew. A Foreman was on site daily to supervise work as well as Ed, the owner. In 3 days the work was completed and a punch out team arrived to put the finishing touches on the roof. Mike phoned me to set up a final walk thru date which included paper work for warrantee and wind mitigation forms and to collect payment. I would like to add that Shingle Masters did not require any up front payment and only collected payment when I was fully satisfied. Shingle Masters honored everything they outlined was to be done. I am truly impressed, as are my neighbors, with the quality of the work and would highly recommend this company to anyone looking to replace their roof.
