After researching contractors, I settled on David because of his good reviews and we were not disappointed. When we arrived at the house to meet him, David was already there and had inspected the outside of the home. As we walked through the house, he was a little hesitant to break the news that the project was going to cost a lot until I mentioned the figure that we thought it would be which he agreed. He was very patient with our questions and took the time to educate us on some of the concerns & ideas we had. Overall, he was a nice guy and seemed trustworthy. In the end, we decided not to go with the house but if we had, we would have hired David to do the work.

Installer was professional and job was completed on time.

It turned out great! Looks very nice, and they got the work done ahead of schedule. Only issue was a few small communication problems regarding what we expected to be done. But ended up with everything looking great in the end.

David came out to inspect and quote the job fairly quickly, and was quite thorough in determining the various tasks required to achieve the permanent fix I was looking for. Quote came in higher than preferred, but expected to pay for quality results. The job was scheduled also fairly quickly (around 2 weeks) from when the contract was signed. To be brief, Brad and Sean whom was designated for this repair did a superb job. They were prompt, took the time to answer all of my question and address any concerns. Upon finding an additional area with water damage (not major, but concerning), David didn't skip a beat and had the team address immediately. Quality, professional work that met every expectation (they are rated A). The office staff is also friendly and stayed on top of all messaging and needed communications to keep things moving. Any major repair where Quality is #1, this team is it.

I absolutely LOVED working with David Spence Inc (DSI). Backstory: About 18 months ago, I considered moving or remodeling. I asked DSI and a couple others for an estimate, and figured remodeling wasn't worth it in my area. I searched and searched for a home that I would love and that didn't require a major remodel, but never really found anything compelling me to move. SO, I reexamined my options. Estimate: I contacted three businesses for an estimate on the project. DSI (obviously), another good Angie's List provider, and a big box store. First, David Spence is an amazing person. He is very personable, down to earth, and a straight shooter. He is creative, an absolute professional, and definitely engaging. He asked what I was looking for, and I gave him freedom to give some professional ideas with the broad things I was looking for. The first estimate I loved (it included an island), but opted not to go forward with that, because I did not want to re-tile my house simultaneously. I re-engaged to go with largely the existing footprint, but extend the cabinets further down one wall. David was easy to work with and provide an estimate in my target budget. For the two other estimates - the other Angie's List provider was a nice guy, but not very personable and didn't seem to be that creative. I didn't have the right feeling with him - nice guy, but I wasn't really impressed. The big box store actually provided me an estimate about the same as DSI (actually, slightly more if I recall), except it was for inferior cabinets and questionable craftsmanship. By the way, I had ZERO issues contacting DSI after over a year of no contact. I provided the original estimate/email as a reference point, and used that as a launching point for a new estimate. Contact: DSI has excellent communication and they are very engaging. I've had an absolute terrible schedule with work the past six months. I don't have consistent access to my phone, and rely more on email. Kristy, the office manager, was amazing throughout. She would leave voicemail updates for important things, and was fine communicating via email to accommodate me. I usually wasn't able to return calls until after their business hours, so email was a lifesaver for me and my project. The Project: When I went forward and signed the contract, everything was scheduled promptly. The contract was projected to finish within 45 days, but they were optimistic it would finish earlier. I was able to schedule immediately, or wait a couple weeks - I chose the latter so I had more time to prep and pack the kitchen. Work began on 10 April, and the workers were very prompt, courteous, friendly, and professional. J.D. was the project lead, and he was perfect. I'd meet with him a couple times during the first week to check on the progress and see if there were any issues, and let him know how to get a hold of me during work for anything pressing. I never had any issues with the crew showing up, getting the job done, or staying on task. During week 2, I had a particularly bad work schedule that led to less meetings with J.D., but I never had an issue. When I had a question, J.D. was able to handle everything. The work was finished by 02 May, so it took about 3 weeks (only while waiting on the granite). DSI employees were always on site, even for the countertop install to ensure everything went smoothly. Of note, the tile backsplash they installed was with travertine tile - it was not the normal nonsense you find at a box store on a shelf. Mr. Spence was actually the one that sold me on doing that, and it turned out awesome. J.D. was able to pick up some great travertine at a local store - most impressive was he picked out something great with hardly any guidance from me - I honestly didn't know what to think or expect. I had a broad idea and he ran with it. By the way, payments were in installments, which was very reasonable. In short, I STRONGLY RECOMMEND AND ENDORSE DSI. I absolutely loved every aspect of this process. With so many concerns during a remodel about being ripped off, or having a salesman 'sell' you on them up until work starts and they have your money, do not worry. DSI is amazing and a cut above. I never had to worry about what the final product would look like, or if everything would be finished – it was exactly how a remodel should be.

I requested an estimate from DSI for a partial bathroom remodel. The owner came out to our house and was on time and professional. A few minutes into our discussion, I asked if the company would work with customers that provided their own tile. DSI indicated that they provided all materials which I understand. Some companies prefer to do that to insure all materials are on site and ready to go. They do not want to be delayed by people that have not properly planned. So I get that. However, I requested that I be provided an estimate that laid out both materials and labor costs and not just a bottom line figure. At that time David indicated that he would do that for a cost of $150. I mentioned that I needed this information because I wanted to be able to compare cost with contractors that were willing to provide only labor. Without agreement to a detailed estimate of costs, the process ended and I will hire another contractor for this job. Now, I will say DSI seems to be a good company with a lot of good reviews. That's why I called them. They may even do good work, I can't say. I can only comment to the somewhat short discussion we had about estimates and my desire to get a detailed estimate that I believe I need to make decisions about who to hire and how to compare cost data.

A great company! Response time was immediate! Chris (office mgr) & Matt (technician) were spot on with customer service & the quality of work performed. Both were very friendly & helpful. The job was completed very much to my satisfaction & I highly recommend their service!

The whole process was great starting with the office person Kristy, who was courteous and attentive to our needs and scheduling, through the expert install by Matt the electrician. The job was executed in one day and the price was very reasonable. I would highly recommend this company for any electrical work that you may need.

Basically everything went very well. Kristy was amazing at keeping us informed and working out details and issues, especially change orders. I would advise anyone who is having a remodel done to make sure that everything you verbally discuss is written in your contract to avoid change order confusion. The work crew headed by JD were superb. They listened to our specific requests and concerns, they were on time, polite, experienced, and cleaned up every day! Matt, the electrician is highly knowledgeable and was quick to help us find solutions. The work was completed sooner than expected and the final product is astoundingly beautiful. The only concern we had was that there was no true closure, or review of final results after work was completed. We would have appreciated time to check over everything with a formal checklist, perhaps even at a later date. However, issues that were discovered later were quickly and completely resolved to our satisfaction. The work ethic of everyone involved is of the highest standards, truly people of integrity. We are thankful for David Spence and all of his employees for the blessing of a good experience and gorgeous outcome! We highly recommend this company and would definitely hire them again!

Matt was great! Besides installing the outlet, he answered some other electrical questions I had. He also gave me an estimate on another job.

They did good work. They were good. They did what they said they would do. It would depend on the project. They did a good job. I was pleased.

I sent a bid package on Feb 3rd and heard nothing back. On Feb 15th I asked if they were still interested in providing a quote. I was told they would take a look and let me know if they had questions. On Feb 17th I was asked what is the budget for my project. When I said I could not provide one they said "I am so sorry to hear that. David wanted to meet with you and discuss your project. However, before he proceeds anymore, he needs the budget established." So I'm supposed to guess at how much the project will cost before I'm worthy of getting a quote from the great David Spence!?? If they were really trying to quote the job the questions would have been about the materials and the work to be done..etc. Also someone could have called me - that might have been more productive. I don't know what kind of game this is - but I"m not interested in playing. My bid package included specific brand name and color for the stone materials to be used...the rest is pretty standard stuff --wood, concrete, shingles and some electrical wiring. I don't think this is supposed to be about what 'David needs' as I don't work for him -- it is supposed to be the other way around - about what the customers needs are. I don't have any idea of a budget for the porch but I have plenty of cash to spend on my house...so your loss.

Could not have gone better. I ordered the service via Angie's. The company called to see if they could send Matt that afternoon. Courteous, clean, efficient -- Matt even checked an outlet in my shed I hadn't used in years. Excellent work at fair price.

Service was excellent. Got 4 lights and a fan added within a day. Electrician was extremely knowledgeable.

Matt did an excellent job. He was very professional. It started when he came to the house to give me an estimate for the job. He went up into the attic and spent time examining the current wiring situation. He then informed me on how he would approach the work. That alone convinced me to hire him, the fact that is estimate was lower than others was a bonus. When he came back to do the actual work, he was hard working and thorough. He made an extra effort to limit the amount of dust the work caused and then clean up afterwards. I would strongly recommend DSI as long as Matt is doing the work.

He and his team performed outstanding work and put in every effort imaginable. Their timing on the project was faster than I expected. Great. Contractor methodically investigated problem, identified issues, proposed solution, and executed according to the plan.

David and his crew did an excellent job of removing the old doors and installing the ones. He also did a nice job of adding trim around the doors on the outside since the new doors are much heavier than the old builder grade. The new glass doors are a great an improvement both aesthetically and functionally. Nice job David. Thank you.

Once the repair was scheduled, showed up early and finished the job to my satisfaction in a couple of days as promised. Attention to details and cleaned up after themselves, very professional.
