Description of Work: REPLACE A CIRCUIT BREAKER THAT I HAD PURCHASE FOR MY CIRCUIT PANEL CHECK VOLTAGE IN OUTSIDE OUTLETS.THE WORK WAS DONE TO MY SATISFACTION. VERY PROFESSIONAL IN HIS DEMEANOR. UNFORTUNATE I DO NOT REMEMBER THAT EXACT DATE OF SERVICE.

Description of Work: The team at DSI were all professional from start to finish, from customer service, scheduling, and work. I had a sensor light installed in the front yard. The technician, Matt, replaced an old light where the wires had melted causing the breaker to trip. Matt was informational as he described the issues while removing the malfunctioned old light and fixture and replaced with new one. He also had time to check another electrical issue and gave me tips to fix as it was an easy job. This was my first Angie's List job and will use again.

Description of Work: It has take me a while to submit this review. It was written long ago - back when this work was done. I was not going to submit this at all, because I have become a believer in promoting local businesses. As such, this will be a bitter pill to have to swallow. Unfortunately, lessons come in many different forms and need to be learned. I have done lots of my own electrical work in the past, completing all of the electric and plumbing for our modular home in Ulster County, NY after I got married. So yeah. I can do stuff. Do I remember all of the salient points in the NEC? no, but I get by. This time I really didn't feel like doing the job. I wanted to be lazy and pay to have it done. So here I am. The tech arrived on time and was pleasant enough. But right off the bat I had the feeling that there was an agenda. This is the same agenda that I get from other contractors - not just on Angie's List, but for Amazon Local contractors as well. It's the time agenda. They want to cut corners so that they can get the job done fast and move on. It isn't that this is a dishonorable goal. The thing is not to reflect it in your interaction with the customer and the quality of your work. The tech was supposed to put in a power outlet with a switch for a ceiling fan and put in a fan drop. In the initial discussion about the job he inflected and presented in his voice that he did not want to go into the cement wall so that the outlet switch would be flush. He made clear that he was going to put it on the surface. Me, foolish person, agreed to this, though I really wanted it in the wall and flush. Anyway, I came out to see how it was going and the fan drop was done and the switch was done but there was no power outlet. The outlet was the very first thing that I had asked for. I explained that he had forgotten the outlet. He corrected this with a single outlet/switch combo. I paid him for services rendered but I was not pleased. I really wanted TWO outlets and a switch. Ceiling drop, pvc, a switch and a box costs 48 dollars? Really? The whole thing began to bother me and I was asking myself if this was going to present itself as a mental "hassle" every time I looked at it. So I decided to change out the whole thing so that I could have my switch and two outlets. I turned off the Lanai breaker and went back and opened the box and got the shock of my life - LITERALLY!! That is MY fault for not checking behind someone else's work! I had a Fluke 77 meter sitting right there. The tech had wired into something that does not loose power like everything else on the Lanai branch when the breaker is tripped! Grrrrr. Not being ready to go rooting around in the attic to see what was amiss I turned off the whole house and changed out the box and redid the wiring. BEWARE! Check your circuits even if the breaker has been turned off. This is a good example of why it is more than just a good idea. When the weather cools off I will go up and redo the whole thing and it will be in the wall and tied to power for the Lanai branch. Yeah, do it yourself! To me, this job, DONE RIGHT - in the wall and flush, with the ceiling drop should have taken two hours. Instead I got slapdash work done with nothing but regrets and good reminder of why these procedures exist.
