DSI successfully built a brand new access door that sits on the mechanical deck attached to the second story of my townhouse. Instead of the shingles that covered it in the past, he matched the exterior of the door with the siding on the second story. David did the estimate himself and provided a team to do the actual work. Everyone was very professional, courteous, and quick without compromising quality. Although I gave DSI and "A" in just about every rating, he is a bit expensive so I marked him a little lower there. I guess you can compare like this: Target vs. Pottery Barn and though I like both, I generally gravitate towards Pottery Barn.

He wasn't real competent. He was local and said that he would get it done quickly, which he didn't do. He didn't really know what he was talking about. He had to get someone out to look at it, which was a clog in the line. That person got it out.

We are extremely happy with the results of our project and performance of DSI. 2 of the most common complaints we heard about all contractors and ones we were very concerned about were the responsiveness of the contractor and timeliness of the completion of the project. We were expecting the birth of our 2nd child very close to the original projected completion date. DSI was able to greatly exceed our expectations in the completion of the project and gave us plenty of time to get all the new and remodeled space ready for our "other" addition of a 2nd child. Also, whenever we had a question or concern DSI was very easy to reach and get answers. If everything goes completely smoothly many contractors are able to meet expectations, but in home remodel projects there are always unforeseen difficulties (especially in South Tampa when our home was originally built in 1960 so there were going to be some surprises during the remodel process). We did encounter some unplanned difficulties and DSI was able to smoothly overcome the issues, keep the project on track/ahead of schedule and ensure that we were totally happy with the results. We highly recommend DSI and would absolutely use them again for any future home construction projects.

We anticipated charges that would be less based on the quote of dollars per hour and expected hours. It was not clear on the contract that the hourly charge would be double due to 2 contractors working on the job (which seemed like a small job). As it was the hours needed wound up being at the top end of the estimate and then doubled due to the 2 contractors. Also the solution provided was not very elegant with large overhead brace made of 2 by 4's intended to enable the gate to close. The middling quality mark is due primarily to the fact that relatively soon after we still have an issue with the gate being very difficult to close. If it had been a more permanent fix, I would have been more satisfied with the work.

My experience with them was excellent. Everything about the group was excellent. The time of start and completion of work was good. The quote was exactly what it is. The work was well. It was perfect. I paid money for good work.

The work team was amazing. They took incredible care with my house, protected landscaping, cleaned up everything every night. The foreman, Mark, was awesome.He listened to everything I said, answered all my questions and bent over backwards to make sure the job was done according to my expectations He and his team met every one of my expectations and then some. I would highly recommend hiring this company. I will use them again..

Dave and team took down and replaced a leaky flat roof which hangs over my front small porch area.

Knowing that it would likely take more time than the original quote, the owner of the first company came out and checked the job informing me that he could not complete the work by the timeframe I required. He is very honest, a man of his word, respectable and any problems that arose, he would address them immediately. As in any project, there was some issues and when presented them after two days, he immediately took care of it. He saw what our complaint was, agreed with us and he made sure it was taken care of. We've had some unexpected health issues that came up during the project so we were not able to complete the final renovation that we had contracted for and he was extremely understanding and did not push and say, "Well, you signed a contract here so you're gonna have to pay me up even though we don't do it." He wished us well and I was very happy that I was working with him. He gave me any option I was comfortable with. He said, "We'll do whatever you wanna do. Whatever you're comfortable with, we'll do." I appreciated that. When it was all finished, I was very happy with everything that was done. He is a man of good character, which is one of the best things I can say about someone. He's a man of his word, very honest, you can trust him and you can't say that to a lot people nowadays. He wasn't the cheapest and not the most expensive but I did go with him because of his reputation with the previous people that had contracted them out.

The workers were on time and very professional. The job was done right and looks great. I highly recommend David and his company.

They showed up right on time as scheduled and worked quickly and efficiently. No delays; showed up every day until the job was done. Asked for my approval regularly & I believe they'd have changed anything I asked. Very professional job. The tile was very well done, floor and bath/shower. Used quality materials. The same people were here throughout the whole process, and Dave Spence was involved every step of the way. I'm very happy with the work Dave did.

We contacted David Spence, Inc., primarily based on strong Angie's List reviews, for a bathroom remodeling project. From start to finish, the job was well handled and a couple of minor missteps were quickly corrected. The entire process moved smoothly and the project was completed on schedule. If we have additional remodeling needs in the future, we will definitely contact David first.

He arrived promptly. i informed him of the problem and he fixed it within the quote and in a very timely manner. On the front of my house there was an extension of a wall under my bathroom window that rotted out and was falling in upon itself. Now it looks like there was never a false front.

Dealing with these folks has been an absolute pleasure from the beginning. Mr. Spence himself came out to provide the estimate. He was very thorough and a complete professional. Everything he discussed mirrored my insurance company's estimate to include the proper mold protocols due to the water damage. From start to finish, all work was conducted on or ahead of schedule. There were no surprises or hidden costs. Additionally, his company was very sympathetic and helpful to my somewhat unique situation as a service member getting ready to head overseas. These are truly good people. I look forward to continuing a relationship with David's company in the future.

David Spence is a good, honest and professional Christian man. The people who work for them are good, kind, courteous professional people. He is not cheap, but in his case you very much get what you pay for. if you are fed up with lousy work, people who don't show up when they say they will, people who say it will cost more after you are into the project, and people who leave a mess behind, then call David Spence. My porch is beautiful. You will most likely deal with Kristy in his office for estimates and scheduling, she is a true professional as well and a kind considerate lady. I am a stickler and I am very satisfied. I work hard for my money and I am glad I spent it on good people who do a great job.

David and his team were professional, prompt and maintained a very clean work area throughout the project. We couldn't be happier with the company and the results.

David Spence responds to phone calls, and shows up on time for appointments. He wasn't the cheapest bid we got, but he did what he said he would do when he said he'd do it. He actually subcontracted out the roof repair but was on scene regularly to manage the project. The workers cut a gas line when sawing out some rotten plywood decking, but DSI took care of all the repair costs associated with that problem. My only complaints are 1) The workers dropped some tiles from the roof on our driveway pavers, damaging the paver stones, and 2)He seems to be in such high demand that he won't take on smaller projects that we've asked him to help us with.

They did exactly what they said they would, for the price and were on schedule.

I contacted them a month or two ago. It was probably November. I don't think he even really looked at the plans. He gave a broad quote. He never even took the time to look at plans. The lady was very nice. The person that answers the phone. They had an A rating and they were located near us. I thought they had potential to hire. They should have reviewed the plans. They were quick to respond. They were punctual. I have not met with them. It was just a call. They did not give me much detail.

David was very professional and had great suggestions for improvement in my space. I did not hire him only because his estimate was more than double of others that I received.

This is the second time I've used David Spence Inc, and I couldn't be happier with the quality of work, the speed at which the work was completed, the professionalism of everyone involved, from the work crew to the office staff. I had purchased a condo and wished to remodel the kitchen and bath before moving in, as well as install some additional lighting and ceiling fans. I had used David Spence Inc, previously and was very happy with their work so I contacted them for this project. The owner, Dave, is always very punctual, listened to what I wanted and then made very practical suggestions as to how to save money and get the most out of my budget. Dave even took the time to meet me at the tile store to steer me in the right direction to get good looking tiles which wouldn't break my budget. The work crew did a great job and at the end of each day cleaned up the construction debris. I also have to point out that the office staff (Kristy) was great, and anytime I had a question or concern she was able to get an answer immediately or get it resolved. No detail was too small for them to make sure I was happy with the project. I would definitely recommend David Spence for any construction/remodel related work and will use them in the future.
