Water was not draining from kitchen sink and the toilet in main bathroom was almost overflowing when flushed. I called the plumber (which I had used before for another plumbing job) and they said they would be out the next morning ("after 9:30). I had to drive into town to overnight a business package, so I called to see whether they were on their way at 10:00. They were not, so we arranged for them to meet me back at the house in one hour. They (the plumber and two helpers) were at the house when I returned. They went in the kitchen, both bathrooms and under the house; using a snake, determined the problem. After explaining the situation, the plumber left to get pumper truck (while the helpers dug up access pipe to septic tank). At one point, they showed me the clump of roots that had probably caused the stoppage. The plumber told me about how long I could expect this pumping out would last (app. 3 and a half years). They finished the work (in the rain!), replaced the dirt, and marked the spot within 3 hours.
