Description of Work: We had wooden floors installed in two rooms. The materials arrived on time. The installers were efficient, neat, and accurate with their measurements. They cleaned up after the instillation and even helped move the large pieces of furniture.
Hessler Flooring was not the lowest bidder to replace some 2,000 sq. ft of flooring in our Port Charlotte home. The company had a strong 50 year reputation, we expected and were promised a professional complete top notch turn-key effort well within the milestone schedule we agreed to. What we got was VERY poor project management, a parade of excuses, delays and misinformation. In the midst of our difficulties we learned Hessler Flooring was recently sold and is now managed by Wayne Wiles Flooring ( Ft. Myers FL). At every turn of the project we found ourselves having to invest far too much of our own time and energy in the thick of unpleasantries and frustrations. As a customer I sent many emails, had to make too many phone calls and it required my personal on-site inspections to keep the project moving. In addition to all the expected charges, we faced the unexpected costs of hiring a finish carpenter to do repairs, trimming and re-hanging doors in the house so they would work with the new carpet and tile heights. (Some of our interior doors were left outside in the rain by the carpet installers.) Our original plan was to repaint the rooms before the new carpets were installed . Unfortunately our painters needed to be rescheduled several times because Hessler wouldn't bring in a proper cleaning crew till after the tile and carpets were down. It doesn't matter if it was Hessler / Wiles' lack of appreciating the scope of the job, or the result of simple incompetence. Either way they acted with cold recalcitrance. Until the last tile was grouted and the carpeting laid, their salesman would occasionally return my call then he would ask me (the customer) for a project status. Were they kidding? It should have been Hessler calling their customer with accurate progress status reports. For my money a TWO Star Service Rating is a grudgingly generous evaluation. With Hessler now owned and operated by Wayne Wiles, frankly you can carve a better flooring supplier out of a banana.
