Jay's Perfect Palm Discount Tree Trimming

They came and gave an estimate. Told me the work would be done on Fri. No show. Showed up Monday. I met them, they were about 1/2 done, I paid them CASH (with signed receipt). Apparently, they left immediately after I did. Work not completed. I called, spoke to person doing work and was assured over and over that they would be back. This went on for four days until I stopped calling. Never returned! Called owner, no answer. Left messages on owners phone, no response.

Flipping diaster. Missed four promised appointments. Sent some belligerent guy named Freddy, insiisted on way more money than quoted...I refused. He got ******, started cussing me out about not needing my **** work and to f'ing do it myself. I told him to leave...he did, yelling and cussing all the way to his truck. Seriously considered calling the police!

I phoned for a quote from the above. Mr. Rich called me back at least five times (not knowing I was in hospital). Discharged Thursday late afternoon and spoke with Mr. Rich and arranged for him to come Friday morning, gave a verbal quote of $110 cash for 6/8 palms. Mr. Rich arrived 6th March Friday took one look at the overgrown palms and said he would need $250 cash only. I did not have this amount on me so we agreed on three trees for $110 cash. However, I pointed to JImmy's car parked on the right hand side of the driveway and said "can you come back another day when I can get the car moved" as I did not have the keys to the car and do the whole job for $250. He replied the "deal is for today ONLY all the palms $250 cash not next week and do not worry we are professionals, fully experienced, licensed and insured. My car was also on the driveway on the left side slightly further up than the other car. I agreed to $110 for 3 palms, (gave him $120 cash) He cut these and then I asked for another palm and gave a check for $50.00. We also agreed he would come back another time and finish the rest of the palms for $150.00. Total would be $280. When the Job was finished Mr. Rich came and told me that a branch had broken the back window on Jimmy's car but he had a deductible of $1,000 so asked me to get a quote and he would sort it out. I told him Jimmy would contact him directly. Jimmy got a quote for $350 on Saturday 7th March. Jimmy phoned Jay with this quote on Saturday afternoon, they had a conversation whereby Jay said he could not pay this amount and to F off. I tried numerous times to contact Mr. Rich over this week-end with no success. On Monday I phoned him from work, he answered immediately after a lengthy discussion (which seemed to me friendly) we agreed that Jay would cut down the rest of the palms and Jimmy and I would pay for the damage to the car. By now Jimmy had got the car down to $300 and was still working on a lower price. Mr. Rich agreed to come on the 13th, then 14th, he was a no show. When I spoke with him he said he was very busy but would definitely come Friday or Saturday 15/16 March again he was a no show. Numerous attempts to get hold of him via my phone but could not so using a different cell phone I got to speak with Jay and this time he said "his partner had decided that they were not responsible for the damage to the car and they were not paying for it". As my family was in Jacksonville at this time, I was am still ill and I am over 70 I delayed any action, but then contacted a lawyer who called Jays Discount Tree Trimming the foregoing business name is not valid, the business is licensed under the name "James Gibney Discount Tree Trimming". Due to illness I have let this slide and really expected Jay to just come and trim the palms which he quoted $150.00. He now states that he requested me to move the car (not cars) how he expected this I do not know I had no keys and was in no condition I had a Neck Brace (still do) and he says that I gave permission to do the job with the cars in the drive - NO WAY. So I felt (although my lawyer disagree's) we were at a stand still with a he said she said situation UNTIL 27th April. My grand daughter's graduation party with the neighbors invited. First, one neighbor across the road asked me was my problem solved (the son in law had told everyone the story) No I said. Then he reminded me that he had phoned me that morning thinking I was in hospital to inform me that tree trimmers were on the property with no one home and two cars in the driveway should he go and cancel them??? I said no Jay told me it was OK they were experienced, licensed and insured and knew what they were doing. THEN, next door had sent their youngster to my back door (not the front of the house) to check on me and ask if I was OK and did I want her mother to move my car (not Jimmy's) again I said that the tree trimmers said they were able to do the job. It was also stated by another neighbor who watched them working that the branches were just thrown haphazardly and it was an accident waiting to happen - shows just what you can learn when people get together and remember a certain day I had completely forgot the phone call and my visitor as I was still resting/sleeping. All this just because of $150 and now it will cost me ($670) ($170 paid to Jay $300 to Jimmy and at least $200 for the rest of the palms plus my future lawyer's fee's. Letters and photo's to everyone and notarised letters from neighbors I am now progressing with a case and I am in the process of registering this with The Attorney General Office/Talahassee Better Business Bureau West Palm Beach Chamber of Commerce Angie's List I work in the St Lucie School board and will not recommend this Company to St Lucie, Martin County, or Indian River School Board who I have colleagues working there I will shortly be entering a claim in the court I am British and now used to this sort of action, have never sued in my life. I phone Jay on Monday 19th and still offered to let him settle this matter by cutting down the trees but he put the phone down on me - What a Professional?

Everything was great; they did a great job. I found them in the money saver.
